Steve Braithwaite from Able Moving is dishonest and unprofessional, and I would advise against using this company. They claim to be BBB accredited, which I have verified that they are not. I used their moving services to transport a vehicle from Toronto to Banff AB, for which Steve gave an ETA of 5-7 business days. The shipment took 9 business days/11 calendar days, and Steve was providing false info about the status of my shipment the entire time. Upon collection of the vehicle, his colleague Shaun informed me that the vehicle would be loaded on the transport truck that day, and that there were 2 drivers on the job to Alberta and it should arrive pretty quickly. On collection day, May 27, Shaun gave me an ETA of the following Friday, Sunday or Tuesday June 5 at the latest. Later correspondence with Steve set an ETA of Tuesday June 4. According to recent correspondence with the transport truck driver on June 5, the vehicle was not picked up from Toronto until June 4, while Steve had told me on June 3 that the vehicle had already made it to Brandon MB, 24 hours west of Toronto; he had also mentioned that the vehicle could make it to Banff late in the evening of June 4, which was also a lie as the transport truck driver did not leave Toronto until that morning. The vehicle had been sitting in the yard in Toronto for an entire week, and Steve was not only avoiding my emails requesting the ETA of the vehicle, but lying about the progress of the move. read more

If I could give these guys zero stars, I would. Very unprofessional. Booked a move 2 months in advance, and the day before sent AN EMAIL saying they had a 'scheduling conflict' and couldn't do the move until 2 days later. No one has returned MULTIPLE phone calls for an explanation. I wouldn't ask them for help moving a couch from one room to another at this point. read more

Brutal. I went with able because they had moved my parents about 7 yrs back. It appears they sometimes sub the work out, and depending on who you get, you may or may not be as dissapointed as I. They took 11 hours to move a 2 person condo to a house 10 mins away (they estimated 7,encouraging an hourly rate versus a fixed contract). They were unable to reassemble anything; I reassembled the bed, couch, fridge, and desk. They held our tv hostage till we paid for 12 hours! The "customer service" keeps dodging our call. Why did they do this? Because the only people at the house was my pregnant wife and mother in law. They took advantage of the situation, humiliated me, and took nearly double the money they estimated. I deeply regret using these guys. :( As a cherry on top: they damaged one dresser and one media stand. Their truck is ancient. There was no light inside . When i used my cell light to take a look if anything was forgotten, i got yelled at "nothing for ya here". I wish i never met these people. read more
