I had bridge work done by Dr.Nicholas and it looked like my teeth were cracked all the way across and the assistant said there was nothing he could do about it. I asked to have him come in to look at my teeth . He did not even come in to talk to me. He admitted it was his fault and replaced the bridge but had to pay extra money plus my time. Approximately every 10 years I need a dental bridge replaced. And when my last bridge needed to be replaced, I went to Above Dental. I've never been more unhappy with the product. Although I told them repeatedly that I liked the bridge that needed to be replaced, it was discarded and the one I was forced to accept is off color and misshapen and embarrassing. Also, *multiple* times their office added on to my bill. The original quote kept getting 'add ons'! Really?? Both of these experiences have never happened to me before. Now, I am forced to replace this poor excuse for a bridge at fully my own expense. *Avoid* this office if you need Cosmetic work done! And beware prepare to pay much more than your originally quoted out-of-pocket expense. read more

In five years that I have been going there prices have more than doubled for maintenance. Cleaning etc.. Hard pressed to have more done by technician. Don't think they're interested in just your maintenance work. Just your $$$ Wasn't all that satisfied with last crown installed. From my first phone call, speaking with Cassandra, I received the utmost kindness. She was able to schedule me for the next day due to a cancellation which was fantastic since I was in tremendous pain. Upon arriving at Above Dental's facility, I was surprised at how charmingly cozy it was. I was met immediately by a sweet woman who gave me a quick tour with a gift box of cute little goodies and took me to a beautiful private room. Minutes later Amanda, the Tech, arrived to make sure I was comfortable and answer a few questions with a sweet smile and great kindness. Dr. Nicholas Ahn arrived just minutes later to explain how the extraction would be done and answer a couple more questions. Dr. Ahn did amazing work, that was slightly uncomfortable, but not in the least painful, especially with the major abscess I had. My comfort was always utmost. He, too, was very kind, professional and actually listened to my questions and concerns. The experience was unlike any other medical procedure I've ever had, in that the care, comfort and Dr. Ahn's tremendous proficiency was ABOVE all else I'd received from other dentists. Since I don't have dental insurance, I thought $300 for an extraction was quite affordable, as well. Wonderful staff that showed genuine concern. Dr. Ahn does fabulous work. read more

I am on Medicare and needed a broken lateral incisor repaired. I was hoping for a way to save the broken tooth and keep my costs down but I forgot I was going to a dentist. I met with Dr. Ong and I was given three choices A) $5000 implant , B) $3000 bridge or C) A clip in (flipper) that is only a temporary cosmetic solution, for $700. My fixed income did not allow me to accept either of the first two choices and I went with the flipper which has to be removed when eating. I believe Dr. Ong did not consider my limited income nor did he offer any less expensive solution. In fact the hour long extraction of the broken tooth and subsequent pain made the experience traumatic and made me feel this practice is more about getting as much money out of the patient to pay for their nice facility and salaries. This notion was further reinforced with a solution I recently learned about called a Maryland Wing Bridge which does not require as much prep work therefore less expensive. I would not recommend Above Dental to anyone and certainly avoid Dr. Ong if you have to go there. read more

They thought they were cute with their stupid banter while working on my teeth. What ignorance these two individuals displayed and how shameful that these people are in the medical profession. These people including the office manager are well aware of what they're doing and taking advantage of anyone they can. Please for your safety and well being stay away from them. I went there because the competent dentists were booked. I only wanted a few fillings completed but they tried to trap me with more of their sneaky sales tactics. The office is amazing, free gift on your first visit, which I declined, fun playroom for the kids, and an office tour. Nothing is free and that beautiful office and gift is all wrapped up in your unbelievable high bill. I had a crown come off. I didn't lose it, it wasn't broken, it just came off. All they did was cement it back on. Even WITH insurance I owed over $100. How is it possible that to cement a crown back in cost over $200? I know how...the "free gift" on your first visit. The gloves used smell horrible. Poor puppy Alley had to wait 2 hours for her walk due to how slow they are. I won't be back. I can't afford it. read more

How odd to have such self promotion even from a screen facing the dental chair. Not at all subtle and rather foolish. Quite impersonal and production line like. Multiple times I have tried to have them help adjust my teeth as they promote denture care and lab but they showed no interest at all. I was misled. So much for hyped up advertising. The first visits are great, everyone was super friendly. Not sure what happened. Maybe the fact that I didn't want to spend 1500+ for a crown that they recommend be done but isn't needed at this time. After the 2nd call to schedule and me saying no, please quit calling me about it, I will call when I am ready to do it. I then found communication to be very abrasive, or maybe I was talking a foreign language and didn't know it. Either way the treatment I received from the office manager was horrible. I was trying to understand where the communication had broken down to cause the issue but she stood with her arms crossed and kept saying I was being aggressive. My 7 year old was with me and had to witness her behavior. Not sure why she felt like she had to be this way but when she refused to let the dentist look at my daughter's loose permanent tooth I lost it. After having such a great experience with our 1st visit it was so disappointing to be treated this way by the office staff. We aren't residents of this area, but we come up every summer for a few months. Hubby had a crown go astray, we called Above Dental, they got us in within three days, repaired that wayward crown and sent us on our way. Took our dental insurance card, no problems. I've been a patient at this dental office for 12+ years. I started coming when it was just Apple Dental. The late Dr. Brice was incredible and took amazing care of his patients. He was kind and patient with children especially. I love my hygienist Binh, too. She is just wonderful and takes good care of my teeth. Since Dr. Brice has passed away the practice has gone down hill. They move around my appointments, they book with the wrong hygienist, and now they are no longer open on Saturdays. If I need to take my child in, I have to pull her out of school. They don't do appointments after 4pm and no weekend hours. I would have to miss work and my kid would miss school. When I told them my dilemma, they didn't care that I'd have to find a new dental provider. read more

I had the best time at Apple Dental! When was the last time you said that about YOUR dentist? From start to finish their whole office was the epitome of friendly professionalism. I called their office inquiring to see if they accepted my insurance even though they were not listed on my insurance's "preferred" list. After a quick fact check and a guarantee they had me scheduled for my first appointment and a cleaning within the week. Everyone was very helpful and friendly while I filled out my paperwork. They welcomed me with a gift bag of dental care accessories and a box of candy from Cranberry Sweets which I thought was right on the nose lol! I had my teeth cleaned over two appointments and began a treatment plan for the next year after my baby is born. Today I received a statement in the mail and when I called to ask a few questions they were more than helpful. I would highly recommend Apple Dental for all your dental care! read more

I booked an appointment for a cleaning. I made it specifically clear that was all I wished done. I have had x-rays done in the last year. I was not asked for a copy of them. I was told the cleaning would be $100 on up. I tried for 2 days to fill out the forms on line (the site was down, staff was not aware); still was not working properly day of appointment. Arrived on time with a confirmed appointment. Was told a complete set of x-rays was needed or no services. I explained that these were at OHSU. I was told the clinic was not affiliated with OHSU and a complete set of x-rays was needed before services would be performed. No offer to call OHSU, no indication the x-rays would be accepted. What a complete waste of time. I have run a medical clinic for 24 years. This is no way to run a practice. Good luck. read more

I was terrified to go to the dentist. Above dental staff is very friendly and respectful! They are thorough and let you know the options and the cost of each procedure. I had to have an extraction that was at the gumline and some fillings. I was very nervous at first but Dr Brice was good and so was the dental assistant. Personally I don't prefer to go here. I've been bullied into purchasing things that I didn't really need like a $600 mouth guard (because I used to grind my teeth as a child but don't any more but they tried to get me to buy one anyway "just in case") Also they charge when you miss an appointment without canceling in advance even if you're sick. No other dentist or doctors office in town does that. Also the girls in this office were kinda pushy and attitude, not very friendly or helpful. I will say that the dentist is nice. And they didn't do the best work when putting a cap on my tooth, I had to have a new dentist fix it because it chipped after I switched dentist offices. read more

I came in last week for a cleaning. Worst dental experience in a long while. I had to swallow water during the cleaning and it was rushed. At the end the fluoride varnish felt like it was dumped in my mouth. A large amount fell down my throat the hygienist tried to suck it out but ended up just spreading it around more. They gave me a free tongue scraper and said I would need it lol. A hour later it felt like I was chewing on taffy. I returned to make sure it was normal and the front staff said it was. I tried waiting on a dentist but my stomach started to hurt I made a appt for the next day. After I returned home I started brushing it out and coughing it up. I would clean my mouth out and then cough more up. Over the next 24 hr my tongue throat and head hurt I felt fuzzy and my chest was tight. At my appt the next day dentist said it was probably my blood pressure medication and they had never heard of anything like that happening. I gave this dental clinic a 5 star as they are great. I chipped a front tooth & we are from out of town & had no idea who to go to. This was a good decision as Dr Brice did a wonderful job on my tooth. They give all new patients a welcome gift which is a really cool gift. I would recommend this clinic very highly. read more
