If you want to wait hours on end to see someone, please come here. We have had 3 appointments in the past 3 months (two kids), and we have well exceeded over 2 hours of waiting. We walked out after waiting 50 min for our scheduled appointment and being told it wouldn't be seen for another 15 plus minutes. Both previous appointments were 45 min waits each. I have really enjoyed our time with Dr. Rawson! My two children (1 and 8) feel very comfortable with her and her staff. She's gentle and quick, which is really helpful with a squirmy 1 year old. I don't feel like our family is being swindled out of any money with pointless procedures or any unnecessary extras. Dr. Rawson is very straightforward and is also a parent of young children, so it's nice to have someone who can treat my children with the same understanding that she would treat her own. read more

The staff was very friendly, very informative, and made sure that my daughter had an absolutely wonderful experience. I love Dr Rawson and the team at ABQ Pediatric Dentist. My kiddos are super uncomfortable at doctor's offices and dental offices, but this really is a kid friendly environment. My husband is a physician and I'm a pharmacist so we are super picky about who cares for our kids medical needs. Dr Rawson is wonderfully kind and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her. Both of my girls where in tears when Dr. Rawson filled their cavities. When my first daughter was uncomfortable I didn't make much of it and gave Dr. Rawson another chance. But, when my second daughter got work done; she was also in tears. This has never been the case before when my teenage daughters have been to the dentist. When I saw Dr. Rawson's hand excessively shaking to put in the second shot on the side that already received a shot, which I have never seen before...that much shaking and my daughter welting up with tears. Here's the thing, if your kid has a cavity and you just need it fixed and don't care how she might be okay. This approach might be good for fixing an air conditioner, but this is a child's mouth. She will NOT let the parent go back with their child when she is working on them period. As a parent I find this disturbing to say the least. There is no way to see how she is treating them or what she is doing, and the drugs have an amnesiac effect so you can't even ask your kid how it went. On top of that she asks, no tells mothers to stop breast feeding and bottle feeding at one year. When told that we had no intention of following that advise (the World Health Organization recommends two years of nursing) she didn't drop it. I found this to be extremely invasive and off-putting. Don't waste your time with her. read more

Everything is new and a first time experience with your first child. I knew once my son turned one I needed to find a pediatric dentist. I am not from Albuquerque so I Google and Yelp to search and read reviews about a lot of different business. It also you become very picky about what happens in your child's life. So let get to it... I found Dr. Shaw's office because my son loves watching PBS. So then I decided to look up her office. When I called the receptionist was very kind and helpful. When I arrived to the appointment all of the staff was awesome. The lobby area is so cute with the rocket ship. She has tablets and learning toys to keeps kids occupied while they wait. Our wait wasnt very long at all we were called back before I even finished paperwork. During appointment I was given clear instructions on taking care of my child's teeth and how to help him and when to transition from they different types of cups to keep his teeth healthy. I love how I was told if I have any questions or concerns about my sons oral health or he hits his mouth and hurts his teeth dont hesitate to call and make an appointment to make sure everything is ok, just based on that I would recommend Dr. Shaw's. read more

I cannot recommend this office, Dr. Audrey and her staff enough! My 7 year old was TERRIFIED with an extreme amount of anxiety over having to get a cavity filled. Our general dentist recommended ABQ Pediatric Dentistry because of the anxiety and the need for specialized pediatric care. Every single person in ABQ Pediatric Dentistry has been professional, knowledgeable, gentle but most of all, extremely caring towards not only my very scared not so cooperative son, but also his anxiety-filled mother. The office is clean and professional while still be kid-friendly (but not in an obnoxious "kid-friendly" way, meaning soothing colors vs. a circus look). Every detail is thought of to make kids feel comfortable, from the waiting room with a kids movie on, to the chair with the leg support cushion, to the instruments that are obviously kid-sized, to the iPad over the chair that the kids can choose a movie to relax to. They do not rush the appointment at all and took a long time to explain each instrument to my son, letting him hear what it would sound like and feel like while explaining what it did so the unknown wasn't so scary anymore. When my son was crying (out of fear when we first arrived), Dr. Audrey took the time to hold his hand and do breathing exercises with him, which made a huge difference for him. The office staff are very knowledgeable with working with insurance, including filing through both insurance companies my son is covered under, and kept me abreast of the coverage details and estimate, even before we arrived for the appointment. No stressful time for me, dealing with insurance with this office! They are wonderful with communication via email, text messages and phone calls and actually do follow through with calling you off the 'cancellation list' when an appointment opens up. I honestly cannot say one negative thing about our experience. My only regret is not finding them sooner for my kids! If you have a child in ABQ or the surrounding areas, do yourself and your kids a favor and call for an appointment. You will be shocked at the difference this professional business makes. My son graduated from high school this year. When I look over his graduation photos I notice what a great smile he has. I can't help but think this is due to the treatment he had as a child at Dr. Shaw's office. When he was young she diagnosed a cross bite. When you first get in you get a friendly and knowledgable receptionist, she made my appointments and worked with our insurance company. The dental assistance are WONDERFUL, very sweet and personable (just what you want for a CHILD!!!) and Dr. Shaw explains what she is doing and what needs to be done, doenst talk down and my kids LOVE her! The office is very kid friendly with books, rocketship video games, kindles and IPADS, enough to keep everyone busy!
