Out of laziness,…read moreinstead of proceeding forward with different types of retention for my challenging case, Dr Grauer decided keeping me in invisalign trays for the rest of my life was the best solution he could offer. Since Dr Grauer is the only orthodontist I had been to as an adult I didn't know that doing so meant that my teeth would always be moving and were never put into final retention - and that doing so meant that my orthodontic treatment was never completed. I only discovered this when Dr. Grauer attempted to charge me $500 to replace the final invisalign tray set a few months ago (which I was told was my final retainers). After I had already paid $7k for treatment + additional costs for retainers that I couldn't use bc once placed they would push my teeth out of alignment, I wasn't willing to pay an additional $500 every time I needed new aligners (since I would likely need a new set every year for the rest of my life). After I insisted they lower the price for the aligners, after comparing the cost of a permanent retainer ($300-600) which lasts 10-20 years, to the cost of paying $500 a year for aligners (which are only supposed to last a few weeks to a month, but I was stretching them for a full year at a time), Dr. Grauer wrote me a formal letter releasing me as a patient. He failed to complete my orthodontic treatment, never put my teeth into final retention, tried to charge me $500 for my final set of aligners and then formally released me as a patient when I called attention to it. I now have to pay another orthodontist to address what Dr. Grauer failed (and refused) to do. Dr. Grauer should have his licensed reviewed, penalized and potentially revoked. How many other of his patients are wearing invisalign for their entire lives after having paid for "top notch" orthodontic treatment? And for him to shrug off the responsibility of it by releasing me as a patient after I paid him over seven thousand dollars? Most orthodontists charge half of that and they actually finish their patient's treatment. Dr. Grauer's actions are inexcusable and unacceptable. I want my money back.

As a insurance agent for over 20 years I get that a lot of people change insurance annually and you cannot help what the policy will or will not pay for treatment if you are already in treatment when you get a new policy and I see people talking about insurance on here but let me say as a person in insurance and who has worked for a corporate insurance company for over 20 years prior to my position now that you cannot blame a office for your coverages or insurance changes over the course of a treatment. The quality of care you get with Dr. Austin and the prices he charges are less than any other office because he is older and has never made the increases other offices have. The finished product and detail you get with him you will not get anywhere else. He is the most genuine person and is very honest you cannot expect not to wear your aligners and them move your teeth. If you cannot commit to wearing them then use braces that are glued to the teeth but do not expect to move teeth with aligners you never wear. Dr. Austin does a very good job explaining step by step and will tell you with each appt. what you need to do or what he has done and the next steps. I highly recommend him!

These people are thieves, extortionists, and commit insurance fraud…read more I've been a patient here for 2 years. They were recommended to me by a coworker. Everything had been fine until my latest and last visit. Last year Dr Patel recommended I get some fillers for a few teeth. The vibe of this place is very sales-y. They definitely try to upsell you on things. Which I get, everyone needs to make some money. So I decided to get the fillings done. I had 3 fillings done last June (2025). They submitted the claim through my insurance and I paid the copay. Fast forward to today - 1 year later, June '26 - as i'm leaving my routine cleaning the front desk woman said I had a balance due on my account. I asked if she could just email me an invoice since I'd already spent nearly an hour there and had other commitments. I said I'd take a look at it as I wasn't sure why I would have a balance due. She pushed and said it's just $50.40 - As though it being a nominal amount meant that I should just pay it without knowing what I was paying for. I said that's fine, but I'd like to make sure I know what I'm paying for and will need to talk with my insurance. At this point of the conversation the man with the long hair and nose ring interjects into the conversation and starts demanding payment. He was practically yelling at me. It was highly unprofessional and made me uncomfortable. Given that he was demanding payment on the spot I tried to ask clarifying questions but he would not answer clearly. He said that it's for services rendered and it's due today. He became increasingly hostile and combative so I left the office seeing as the conversation wasn't going anywhere. I figured they'd send me the invoice anyway and I'd get it sorted. They did indeed send a follow-up email demanding payment within 15 days or they'd send it to collections. Given that this was the first I'd heard of a balance owed on my account, I found it highly suspicious that they'd be so threatening. Note that I had a cleaning with them between my appt when I got the filling and the latest cleaning. Additionally they have all of my contact info and never once sent me an invoice. In any case I started combing through my emails from them, my receipts, and the insurance claims they sent to my insurer. Turns out they had fraudulently billed my Insurance for 4 fillings instead of 3, and the outstanding balance they claimed I owed was the exact copay amount for the 4th tooth. I reviewed the invoice again and noticed another discrepancy. The teeth they claimed to have filled were incorrect. What I find comical is that one of the teeth that the invoice reflects as filled is actually one that Dr Morim mentioned I should get filled at the appointment that literally just took place. With all that being said, I've obviously reached out to the Dental Board of California and i filed a formal complaint, I've notified my insurance of their fraud, and have contacted an attorney to explore other avenues of legal action that may be available. The thing that is most upsetting about this scenario is how they treated me. I've been a loyal client to them for 2 years, but it felt like they were treating me like some common thief trying to evade payment. Given that they destroyed all goodwill i had for them, I've obviously decided to find another provider. I highly recommend avoiding this practice. Though I'd be surprised if they still have a license to operate after I'm done with them.

However, the front desk has been a major issue. I've been trying to get a pre-authorization for wisdom teeth surgery for 6 months now......and it hurts!! Every time I ask about the status, I'm told to contact my insurance myself, often with interruptions and a dismissive attitude. They've given multiple excuses for delays, but my insurance confirms they've never received a request. While the doctor is outstanding, the front desk's repeated mishandling and poor communication make the process unnecessarily stressful. The office needs to improve their insurance coordination and patient communication. --------------------- After posting this review, I received a call from the front desk saying I am no longer welcome at the office due to my review. And suggested me ti cancel my wisdom teeth removal appointment. First if all, I feel extremely uncomfortable to be contacted via phone for my review; Secondly,it is unprofessional to suggest a patient to cancel a surgery ( which is well needed) because patient's online review. And again during that call, I was interrupted multiple times and the tone felt dismissive. This unfortunately reinforces my original concerns. Finally, I'm shocked that my preauthorization remains unresolved after over six months, yet it takes less than a day to act on a negative review. Great image management!

I developed an extremely painful, very swollen, pus-filled dental abscess late last month, and called Fuller Smiles to see if they could have me come in that day to have it get evaluated or drained. I was told by the receptionist that no one could see me same day, and since it was a Friday I could check back on Monday. The abscess was swollen and painful and if left untreated can cause more infection, loss of the tooth, and sepsis, and I pointedly asked the receptionist so I can't be seen even if it's an abscess and a dental emergency? To which the receptionist replied no and asked me to check back three days later when they're open again on Monday. Of course, I found a different facility and got it drained that day and was confirmed by the other dentist of the abscess. I then went back to this Fuller Smiles a few days later to get it evaluated by Dr. Katie, my usual dentist, and she did a CT scan for me and referred me to an endodontist. I called the receptionist at Fuller Smiles today and asked if the results of my CT scan could be sent to the endodontist or to myself to show the endodontist so they could get a complete picture of what's going on. The receptionist then tried to tell me I didn't get a CT scan done, when I know I did because I was literally in the machine getting it done a few weeks ago. I then told her the date of the test and she found the record but then told me she couldn't send it over to me because of software issues, even though it is my legal right to get a copy of my imaging tests. I asked her how the endodontist would be able to evaluate me then without having my test results and she basically told me to get another repeat CT scan done there, without any regard to any unnecessary radiation exposure that would mean or if insurance would cover it. Overall I thought the dentists here were great, but Jackie at the front desk was very unsympathetic and unhelpful, and I am considering taking my business elsewhere just so I don't have to deal with her anymore.
