Yelp: good for finding a restaurant for lunch, but is it good for finding a Lawyer?!?
Yup.
To be fair, most of the other attorneys I researched don't have a Yelp review AT ALL, let alone a good one. The fact that Michelle Abrams is reviewed in Yelp tells you 2 things: 1) her client base is more with-it than most, and 2) she is pretty good.
First let's take a moment and talk about how important responsible and expeditious communication is with any practicing professional. When your emails and phone calls disappear into a void, it's hard to have confidence that the office staff on the other end are performing their other duties in a diligent fashion. The Abrams firm was always on the ball about returning and answering phone calls and emails in a timely fashion.
Next there was the actual experience of interfacing at their office. They are located in downtown in a pleasantly-appointed one-story office. The Wall Street Journals in the waiting room may be a few weeks old, but you won't spend too much time sitting there.
Michelle Abrams has a congenial and professional demeanor, and is able to answer any and all questions in great detail. There is no sensation of being rushed into or through anything, and while the questions posed (who gets your stuff when you die? how bad do you want it to get before they pull the plug on you?) are heavy, she provides a relaxing environment in which to discuss them, and is able to explain the options clearly and in plain language.
All in all, a very satisfactory experience for a process that we may not enjoy, but need to pursue to be prepared for the inevitable. read more
