    Enclosed lanai
    Elle H.

We have used Absolute Aluminum for multiple home projects - a new enclosed lanai, a large roof to cover our back patio and replacing all of our gutters. Their process of both scheduling and construction was timely and easy. The quality of the products they used is exceptional-from the aluminum to hardware to screen, all exceed what I typically see in Florida homes. The workers were super friendly, efficient and always cleaned up after themselves. Communication with our sales rep was always quick and easy. These home improvements have improved our home's value and our personal enjoyment of our outdoor space. With Absolute, we felt 100% confident that these jobs would be done well. We wouldn't use any other company and would recommend them with no hesitation to anyone seeking to improve their outdoor living spaces.

This photo clearly shows the area in my $11,000, brand new Lanai, that is not pitched properly.

Absolute Aluminum has a good reputation in the Sothwest Florida area, but I had a terrible experience. After waiting 9 months they left me with an improperly pitched floor. The water pools in this particular spot. I try to brush it away but eventually mold forms. The cimpany says it passes the nickel test. This means the water does not cover a nickel. However, after a hard rain that nickel will be covered many times. $11,000 !! Give me a break!!

This company used to be a great company, sadly it is not anymore. Originally we both our house with a pool cage built by Absolute Aluminum about 10 years ago, that is why we choose to go with the same company to have our lanai and pool cage extended. We had our lanai extension done by Absolute Aluminum at 2016 August (2 years ago). Now while they were doing the job we had some concerns, like an unsightly, crooked deco drain across the lanai floor clearly showing where exactly the extension is.It is such an eyesore! They said it can not be taken out or moved because it won't serve it purpose. We had an original cool deck, Absolute Aluminum repainted the whole lanai floor, the paint what they used was cheap or badly mixed, after months of application it was still sticky to the touch and attract the dirt-like pollen,dust,footprints-so much more then the original paint on the lanai floor. After a few months the concert started to crack in several places on the new concrete-Absolute Aluminum said it is normal,I only should worry when I can drop a penny in the cracks!!!! After 2 years almost all the screws are rusted. On a white lanai cage it is very noticeable! We started to change the screws ourself to the nylon top screw, which are much more durable. We payed a lot of money for this job to be done,I don't know why they couldn't do the nylon top screws at the beginning, even if it is more we would of pay the extra to the better look and durability. On top of that where the new extension starts the aluminum floor beams are noticeable bent not 90 degrees. I would not recommend to use Absolute Aluminum! Save yourself the headache and look for a better company to install your pool cage!

I had Absolute Aluminum add 10 feet of living Area on my pool cage and a new pool cage as well. I had no problem whatsoever with the old one; just needed more room. They did the concrete for the extension. From the first day it rained we get 3/4 inch standing puddles; mud pours in. This never happened before and have never seen any other pool cage It is Horrific! I have called repeatedly and they do nothing. I have holes that leak right on my indoor outdoor carpeting. Here are some photos of what they have done. We were new to the area and a neighbor of ours works for them and told us what great work they do. I am thinking about getting a lawyer and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. You be the Judge. I am almost 75 and they took advantage of a Senior Citizen.

Regardless, Ron L.'s professional approach at this stage led me to select them for the job, and I did. They sent an email on Thursday that read, "Great news, we'll be on your job tomorrow." Okay...that works. And then a crew showed up completely unannounced at my home that evening at 6:30 because they were there to measure the job. Umm...didn't the "office" send you the specs? No...that's why we're here. Okay, strike one, and I sent a message to Ron and another company representative, and crickets.... The crew came back on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to do the job. It's a good thing I didn't intend to use my backyard space for what should have been a one-day event (according to Ron L. and every other screening company I spoke with). And then the crew left on Sunday. No notice, no final report, no review with the customer...just drove off. Then I checked out the work and found that they ran the screening from one side of the lanai to the other. Had Ron L. bothered with any quality checks, that may not have happened. But they didn't, so now I had to address it, and I did. The crew made excuses and said that's how they did "rescreens." The same crew came back out the next weekend, fixed the problem that I (not the company) found, and again...drove off with zero notification. Then, 2 weeks later, I received the final invoice. So, of course, I asked the question again. How do I know the work was done to any kind of standard? So far, I have had to address every issue with the company and its crew. Here I go again, and I contacted the company. Only then did someone who said they were the project manager reach out to me directly (first time) to address my concerns. It's at this point that I told the individual (I'll leave your name out of it, but you know who you are) that I was disappointed in the company's ability to communicate to me what was going on. Of course, I again addressed the crew's attempt to shortcut the job, and the response I got was "they're lazy." So here we have a project manager (who doesn't know what it means to manage a project) who is diming out their work crews. They're only lazy because you are an ineffective manager. They offered an apology and only then said they would come out to review the crew's work and thus do their JOB. I offered my comments as constructive feedback and asked if they were willing to offer any additional concessions (other than an apology and acknowledgement that they need to do better). The response I got was that the work was done. Okay, fair point...but I had to do YOUR job and inspect the work. Ron L. has a terrific reputation for building cages, and I will likely use them again if I ever need a new one or a rebuild...but I simply can't trust them to do my screens, especially when they hire out subcontractors and don't follow up on the work. They lied to me and tried to deceive me. I can hope they can figure out how to transition their build expertise into their larger business plan, and remember that the customer (read the one who is paying the bills) should be your primary focus.

I did my due diligence, got 3 quotes and not only were they the least, they offered the tear down at no expense if I went with them. Both other quotes had a 2k charge plus one of them wanted half of the contract price advanced to them upon materials delivery. And maybe that's normal but I wanted my insurance money to sit in the bank until the very last minute. RL Aluminum did a fantastic job and I couldn't have hoped for a nicer company to handle my cage rebuild. I highly recommend them.

Overall a bad experience…read more We chose Commercial Residential Aluminum (CRA) for positive experience 10 years ago, with good CRA lanai cage still on our property. But this lanai extension and patio paver project was poorly managed administratively. This caused us issues and extra work/cost. The project was slow to finalize contract taking weeks; review delayed as CRA has e-mail domain issues; needed to correct several errors they made. Coordination for the patio paver work was weak. We had to direct obvious items ourselves, including connecting / continuing existing drainage (that was part of contract) and removing/reconnecting obsolete drain pipes; (all part of contract). Most concerning, CRA ordered the wrong pavers: initially attempted to place that blame to us, and only acknowledged the mistake when proven otherwise, our grey color choice in writing twice. This color issue finding occurred on paver installation day - 3 weeks into the project. We were told correcting the paver color would delay the project another 3-4 weeks for new paver delivery (an unknown). This was rough to hear after the job had already been put on hold by CRA merely because we asked to be included in any cost change requests. Trust in how they'd treat us now was low. CRA putting our job on hold caused distrust. Left us little choice but to proceed under pressure with the wrong color material. (I.e. Duress; wrong decision!) There was also no meaningful accountability for this paver error. We incurred significant out-of-pocket costs for trying to fix their error by staining, sealing, and the labor to correct the pavers. No compensation or acknowledgment was provided in the end. CRA denied helping or paying the labor needed to do the project (that's the real cost). But glibly advised they'd pay for the bottle of stain. These communications have been awkward to say the least. To elaborate on CRA change-order handling: Our project was paused for a week (put "on hold" by the office manager until we Docusigned agreement to pay) solely because we justifiably requested to be included in any change order discussions / cost increases and receive proper documentation. They states ours is a "retail job" and we did not warrant being included; charged an additional $450 related to the footer digging / stump hole filling work that was double billing. Disappointing because prior guidance from CRA was that the trench could remain as-is. We had already a paid other contractors for this added work so did pay double. We asked for a copy of that $450 invoice or payment of that invoice. They denied providing it to us which is suspect. The final bill has been sent to us by CRA with out this. Paver install was via a subcontractor too I found issues with footer to paver connections that would have caused large delays if not seen. Later undercut landings I had to repair myself. We waited for a week for the paver team to finish the sanding pavers (it took 45 only minutes); but this delay negatively impacted other work we tried to accomplish such as the color issue - not allowing us to get labor help. To their credit, the aluminum cage installation itself was well done - final inspection quality was lacking. It required follow-up work was done well. DO FULL INSPECTIONS! Overall, this project involved poor communication, lack of coordination, and questionable billing practices. Operationally the team did follow through swiftly to address the inspection concerns and minor issues observed after job completion and we appreciated that very much. Not the level of professionalism we expected. Rating 2 is based on not trusting the company, being boxed in by CRA on decisions that we ultimately regretted. It should be a 1. But the ops team tried hard. Final: CRA just wanted their money. HOW they operated seemed less important than getting STUFF DONE. Photos : tan pavers vs requested charcoal grey. cage install with dyed pavers (first of several tries to fix ourselves). door kick panel popped open. Inspection findings.
