To the Parents, Military Members, and Veterans of the University of South Carolina Columbia Community, I strongly urge you to avoid utilizing the services of Absolute Towing located in West Columbia, South Carolina and provide feedback on any services you received from their establishment. My recent experience with this company--particularly with an employee named J.C.--was deeply disappointing and concerning. My student parked briefly in the Waffle House parking lot to attend a nearby celebration with friends. At no point were there visible signs indicating "Customer Parking Only" or warnings about towing. Despite this, Waffle House called for towing services. Strangely, only my student's vehicle was towed, while several others that arrived and parked at the same time--right beside him--were left untouched. This incident occurred at approximately 12:35 AM and there was plenty of time for the others to be towed before the celebration concluded. When my student contacted J.C. that night, he was denied the ability to retrieve his car and was told he could only do so the next day for $250 in cash--even though Absolute Towing's website clearly states they accept credit cards and others paid $175 or $200. J.C. was dismissive and rude, and his behavior worsened when I called to discuss the situation. He sarcastically stated, "If he has money for the club, he has money to get his car back." This assumption is not only unfounded but incredibly disrespectful. My student was not at a club, nor should that even be relevant to the issue. It appears my student was targeted--possibly because of his visible USC parking pass and the type of car he was driving. If towing were truly being enforced across the board, the other nearby vehicles would have also been removed. This feels predatory, discriminatory, and entirely unethical. I am formally requesting a refund of the $250 towing fee due to these unfair practices and ask that the South Carolina Wrecker Advisory Committee review Absolute Towing's operations. This company has numerous poor reviews and demonstrates questionable practices that should not go unchecked--especially when they affect our students and military-affiliated families. Many families of our amazing students do not live in the Columbia area like us and need to ensure the community has all of students' best interest and safety at the forefront read more

I was parked under my girlfriend's apartment, she saw it happening as she was leaving. Approached the driver "Donnie" and I was on the phone with her and he was rude as it gets. She was nothing short of respectful and just asked what needed to be done, in return he was no help other than handing her a card and being a dick. Shortly after I went to take them the 175 dollars they requested, and Donnie was at the counter. I came in with a great attitude and just told them I was there to pick up my truck. During the whole payment process, Donnie was the least likable dude I have ever encountered in my life. I tried my best to be respectful but he made multiple snarky, off-colored comments back. He asked for my ID and I placed it on the counter and he scoffed and told me to put it in his hand. Immediately after he throws it off the counter onto the ground. Finally he handed me my receipt and I went to leave and he said "maybe don't be dumb and park there again". I walked outside and went up to the owner and told him about how awful his employee was and that if I had any chance to tell someone to not do business with Absolute Towing I would. He just brushed me off and said he would go look at the camera. I 1000% do not recommend Absolute Towing. Awful people. Awful company. Other reviews go to show for it. Two cars towed from the exact same parking lot at the same time. First car was $150 to get, second one was $175. Offered no explanation as to why the price was different, and threatened to call the police. Inspect your car very carefully if these folks tow it. There was evidence that one of the cars was dragged from the spot it was towed from. Whatever you do, keep your expectations of Absolute Towing low. read more

They were out of regular passes so they gave me a paper pass. This morning I was towed with no information of where my truck was held. Found out what towing company and called where I was connected to the head of the buisness (i'm guessing) he was so unprofessional and disgusing. He figured i was a college student and immediately told me to bring $250 cash. Then another time told me $200 where I called him out on it because to him I was just a "little college girl". He thought he could get his way and still after telling him I had a pass he would not release my vehicle. He made me show him the pass and then say that he didn't see if because it wasn't hanging up but as i said before they printed a pass because they had no more available. He called me a liar and told me to fess up to "faking a parking pass" and told me he would let me take it today for $175 from there I told him he was getting no money out of me and he literally stole my vehicl. He finally got the call from the girl in office that gave me the pass and he still told me that in quote "this doesn't add up". When I got my vehicle I noticed many deep scratches from the bed of the truck all the way to the headlight AND dents all on the bed of my truck that were not there before. He likes to con college kids out of their money and try to gaslight them and scare them with the whole "you won't get your vehicle back" WHEN SOME HAVE A PASS. Apparently he didn't have all day to sit around and wait to see if my pass was legit when clearly it was and he was keeping my vehicle illegally basically. David showed up early and got my box loaded quickly but carefully. they brought it to my house and helped me push it through the front door. the entire time he took his time to ensure that nothing was getting damaged. he's also moved a few toolboxes from my old shop and has always done a fantastic job. definitely use again when it's time to move my box again! read more

As someone who has had their car towed by 4 different parking companies, all I have to say is that if you're going to get your car towed for parking in the wrong place at the wrong time, at least get it towed by Absolute Towing. Today was an experience, so this company preys on college kids and gets 150.00 cash points on the tows. So my kids car was parked in the visitors parking with a resident parking sticker on for me to pick up and take to get work done on it. Found it was towed, and called, and I was irritated and then they were like you can pick up at 8 and bring cash. Then when I picked up the car they lectured me on residence can't park in visitor parking and vice versa. They just like to drive around and find cars to tow! Wish I could give them less. The rudest, most disrespectful and tasteless towing company I've ever encountered. My daughter resides in a garaged apt complex and had her car towed. Her temporary decal flew off the dash on the seat but was visible. She was walking out when she saw the driver. Who was very rude and arrogant. She explained to him and pointed that the decal was there they both could see. Also her office has a rule that levels 1-5 is not supposed to be towed. She explained that and it's also on the decal. She asked could she just pay to have the car unhooked bc she has to meet at her school at 8 bc she has graduation. This cornball says. No!!!! I then called even asking could she come and pick it up and about the rules of not being towed , he was so tacky it's pitiful. This is quite possibly the worst customer service that we have ever experienced. My mothers car was towed, despite given permission by our apartments front office to park in handicap (which she has a tag for). After the office took care of the issue and ensured we had permission and would not be charged for the towing fee, we went to Absolute Towing to pick her car up. I dropped my mother off by the front door, due to her being handicap and having trouble walking. When she gets in the office, a man comes out the door and begins screaming at me for blocking the gate, which I was unaware of. He then proceeds to cuss my mother out saying that she is a liar and isn't handicap, in disrespectful words I refuse to repeat in this review. Had a flat tire today around 6:00, called to get it changed because I don't have the tools to do it myself. Originally, the gentleman who answered was kind and told me they would call me back. Around 8:00 I called back and a very rude man answered, told me they had no record of me, and laughed when I asked, again, if I could get a tire changed. Towed my car (parked in no parking area) asked how much it was to drop the vehicle driver said $150 with $5 per minute it would take to get the money. Got to the impound lot fee was only $135. I cannot recall the drivers name. I would look at the receipt except he didn't send me one as he said he would. As far as the timing and competence he displayed was fine. My issue is his "poor-me" hustle. Starts with small talk then he went to "I've got four kids and my wife can't work because she must stay home with the kids". Then he went to "I'm not going eat again till 8:00 this evening, b/c I don't have any money". The crowning part was "my little boy needs some Tylenol but we don't have any". Yes, I gave him some money ($20). I have a big soft spot and am a sucker some times. It usually makes me feel good for helping. But then! I realized that I had been conned. Was at Hobby Lobby last week and locked myself out of my car. Ricky from Absolute Towing came and got me into my car in less than two minutes. He was amazing. We have Geico Roadside Assistance and Geico dispatched them and said it would be around an hour until he got there. So I was planning on sitting by my car for a while, but it had only been maybe 10 minutes before Ricky showed up. I couldn't believe how fast he got there. Asked me some questions and he got right to work. He carried a conversation with me while he worked. And was also courteous to the other drivers who he had to block with his truck.
