He will go over everything with you on the TV screen (computer is projected up on it) no nothing is hidden. My husband Dan and myself went through Acade Tax Services last year and we're happy to make another appointment with Darren! I've never been "excited" about going to get my taxes done until I made my first trip to Arcade Tax Services. I had an appointment last night and from the second I walked in Darren was extremely welcoming, friendly, and hands down the most helpful tax consultent I have ever worked with. It took roughly 40 minutes from start to finish with me and he asked questions I've never been asked and even showed me different ways I could file and keep myself organized throughout the year. Prices here are comparable to some of the other places, however I can almost guarantee that you won't be getting the same personal touch as if you come here. He has an even, calm demeanor, even when presented with a shoe box full of miscellaneous receipts. Darren gives even-handed, down-the-middle advice about write-offs and what you need to disclose. I would not recommend Darren for tax services. He calculated our taxes incorrectly and later we received a letter from New York saying we owed money (he had calculated that we would receive a large refund). We had to scramble to fix the problem ourselves and call other tax services to help. We had to try multiple times for numerous days to get a hold of Darren by phone or email until we finally reached him about this problem. read more

Darren helped my husband and I save hundreds on our taxes this year by comparing different filings. We stared out as 'married filing jointly' and we owed a few hundred dollars. As a courtesy, Darren checked what it would be if we filed separately and it came out that we would have a small REFUND! I doubt any online tax software would even bother to compare. I have never done my taxes alone before and needed someone to do it for me and could answer any questions that I had. I tried TurboTax but had a headache attempting to do it alone. Since I haven't lived in Buffalo for a long period of time, I needed to find a tax preparer who was knowledgeable and affordable. I decided to turn to Yelp and Google for help in finding a good place to go and ended up finding this place. You are able to make an appointment online. The appointments are an hour but the appointment won't last that long. Once you go inside, there is no wait time. Darren was extremely helpful and patient while doing my taxes. As he works on your taxes, you can follow along on the big screen and he'll take the time to talk you through your tax return and gives you an estimated time as to when you may receive your refund. I had never had my taxes done by anyone but a confused version of myself and a computer system that couldn't answer my questions. When I had a few things I didn't know how to deal with, I hopped on the internet and searched for a place to get my taxes done. Jackson Hewitt? No, I've heard terrible things... H&R Block? I remember my mother used to use them and she HATED them, so that was a no. I really didn't know where to turn. My nights were becoming stressful because I usually had my taxes done the second I had my W2's. But with a confusing situation and some additional, unrecognizable documents, I didn't want to do it myself like I always had. I turned to Yelp. I searched "taxes", and Acade Tax Services, LLC was the first thing to pop up. "5 stars? Oh, this has to be a good place" I've always been the kind of person who has to hype themself up before making a phone call or I shout and cry because I'm not as much of an adult as I like to say I am. I called, and I got a machine (which is totally great!). The message told me I could make an appointment on the website. I made one there, and it was easy peasy. There are late appointments available (mine was at 8PM) which is great for someone like me who is a busy bumble bee. I was super nervous just becuase I'm that kind of person, but the whole experience was great. Darren is awesome to work with! He answered all of my questions, explained everything in detail when needed (I needed it a lot). He's very friendly and made me feel confident that I chose the right person this tax season. I was able to book my appt online (yay!) and I arrived a few minutes early and Darren took me right away.
