Our rep struggled with basic math, wouldn't follow through on basic tasks, had to be continually convince to make a basic effort and when called on it his manager was condescending and insulting, mistakenly sending us an internal email insulting my wife. No apology made... We were constantly finding errors in their work requiring corrections and when we called corporate to complain, their complaint mitigation officer flat out lied to us and outed himself on the call: he claimed he had no contact with the office processing our mortgage yet and asked our permission to contact them about our complaint... after mentioning specifics we had never given him that he only could have obtained from those people directly. I have never met a mortgage company this flatly Incompetent: They ordered the appraisal way too late, they forgot required fees and could not answer some rather basic questions "this is kind of a black box to us; we put in our numbers and thus comes out." They lied to us about being able to have partial payments applied; a fact we found out the actual signing of the loan. They forgot a key provision on signing day which left us in the car an hour from anywhere trying to negotiate to get the loan to record 30 minutes before the recording deadline because of their last-minute failure. They even threatened to pull the loan after we asked them to corrects mistakes. Even the escrow company said they have been a nightmare to deal with. But here's the topper: They violates Federal law and sent someone else's mortgage papers in with ours and told the escrow company to ignore the fact that they sent duplicate copies of a bunch of provisions and said "Make them sign all Of them". Really? You want to sign someone else's loan papers? What absolute morons! I don't know how they get a single good rating, but I do know the "mandatory customer survey was missing from our loan docs at signing, which is probably how I'm the only one outing their felonious behavior. Fortunately all calls With them were in our recorded line... We'll see how this turns out, but stay away! These guys have no clue and no desire to get one! read more

I did my research when it came to choosing the right mortgage for my family. I met with Dave for at least 45 minutes the first time we met early on in our build job. He was recommended by my builder. He walked me through all the fees, the process, and I told him that I was looking to lock 30 days prior to closing with no points. He assured me it would be no problem and even gave me a sample of what my mortgage would look like at the current rates. I decided to take a chance and go with Academy over my banking institution because the reviews of the company were excellent and according to Dave although some loans were sold, they kept most loans in house. Well, long story short, I kept in contact with the office over the months and Dave assured me that we were on track. When the time came to lock he told me the interest rate we would be locking at and two days prior to closing I got a copy of the paper work. Turns out, I had indeed been charged over $3,000 for a point! Clearly it had to be a mistake so I called Dave and he apologized, saying it was an Idaho loan which requires a point. When I asked to go with the loan that doesn't require a point he said he didn't explain correctly and all loans require a point charge. I was upset so he assured me that I could choose the higher rate and not pay the extra money. I decided that was the best bet since we didn't have that extra money set aside. That's when he told me that he got it wrong and if we changed the rate it would postpone the closing date until the next week. So the movers, time off, previous living situation, and deliveries we had scheduled would all have to be postponed which was not a possibility. So basically we lost over $3,000. To add insult to injury, our mortgage was sold to a random company I have never heard of before the first payment was due. read more

Never once picked up the phone to talk to me. Terrible follow through. I guess that is too much bother. Low hanging fruit is what matters most, not customer referral.
