My 16 year old son has been ready to get behind the wheel for some time. He was eager and excited. The moment we contact Mike, he came over to meet up with us at the house to go over all the paperwork. He was on time, professional and reassuring. The reassuring part is for me. The price he charged is on par with most of all the other driving schools in our area. 6 hours of lessons in 3 days. My son told me that he was good at Mario Kart and told me not to worry. Well, what do you know, the kid did alright on his first day. Mike was an amazing teacher, patient and my son felt very comfortable with him. On the last day, Mike felt confident enough to have my son drive on the highway. After every lesson, Mike gave me a thorough and detailed report. My son has one year to practice before he goes for his road test. He has been driving every weekend as Mike strongly recommended. My husband has been guiding our son while I sit in the back holding on for dear life.

Asking around, I heard some others from Princeton who used them, so we went ahead and booked with them. My daughter had the same instructor for all three of her lessons. He was always on time and everything went fine. All lessons were scheduled within a 5 or 6 day window at the end of July (about a week after I called them initially). When we called back to schedule someone in April to take her for her road test on her 17th birthday, her prior instructor was no longer with them due to illness. Someone else took her and she did fine - she passed and he'd given her the added tip of getting the QLess app so that by the time she passed the road test, she was 10th on the 'line' in the dmv building - she would have been 56th! So she was dropped back at school that day with her license in hand, on her 17th birthday. Only drawback was that they did sometimes pick up or drop off another student at the end or beginning of a lesson. There was another woman with them on the day of the test as well - also taking her test. Additionally, the lessons were cut a little shorter than the 2 hours, but driving is exhausting when you are first learning, so neither my daughter nor I really had any complaints about that. They covered all the basics - stop, start, reverse, k-turn, parallel, highway . . .

I didn't get behind the wheel until about an hour into our session and then because of that he offered me extra time and when I told him no because I had to be home for a virtual therapy session he said it would be fine if I got home a tiny bit later because the appointment was virtual. I tried to cancel a driving session due to being sick the previous day and because I didn't cancel 24 hours in advance they said I would still be charged. Mind you after that was explained I was more than happy to pay for the missed session seeing as that was my own mistake but when I called the office to clarify, the woman that picked up the phone was abrasive and rude. She immediately had a confrontational tone when all I had asked about was clarification. When I spoke to her about Justin's behavior her immediate response, she was again defensive and abrasive.

I had Bob help me out-- at first I was just going to rent one of the driving school cars to take my test because my home car apparently had tinted windows (? they're normal, but whatever), but I arrived early to the test and Bob gave me a mini-tutorial on the test himself in the spare time. I cannot overemphasize this-- HIS TUTORING WAS WHY I PASSED. Even if you already actually know how to drive, I recommend you do an hour with Bob-- he is patient, kind, helpful and he knows what the driving examiners expect!!

The initial six hours would have enabled me to pass the road test, but in the three months leading up to my road test, I wanted to keep driving with Mr. Wang about once or twice every week because I learned immensely every time about how to drive safely in a variety of real life scenarios. With patience and clarity, he provided logical instructions, quick corrections, and practical, wise advice. In addition, scheduling lessons amid my busy schedule was always easy. Using Mr. Wang's car in which I had learned to drive, I passed my road test on the first try. Extremely happy with my experience, I am emerging as confident on the road as I can be before driving often by myself. I would recommend NJC Driving School to anyone.
