I highly recommend this Spa! The staff was amazing, kind,…read moreprofessional and knowledgeable. I received a fantastic facial from Katie and a great massage from Ben. I definitely will be coming back. Thanks so much for such a relaxing evening!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Bear Mountain Spa was, without exaggeration,…read morethe worst customer service I have ever experienced at a luxury spa. This was especially disappointing because this spa is one of the most expensive in the area. I had received a gift certificate and decided to treat my mother and myself to massages. Instead of leaving relaxed, I left feeling humiliated. When I booked the appointment, I specifically requested two female massage therapists. This is extremely important to me, and I never book massages with male therapists for personal comfort reasons. When we arrived, two male therapists came to greet us. They didn't even know who we were--they addressed me by the wrong name and were clearly expecting completely different clients. That alone suggested something had gone wrong with their scheduling. A manager came over, and instead of trying to understand or resolve the situation, she immediately insisted that everything was correct. When I explained that I had specifically requested female therapists, her response was essentially, "Prove it." I was stunned. My appointment time was already starting, and instead of helping me, she demanded that I somehow prove a booking I had made weeks earlier. I told her that if the reservation had been made by phone, they could review their recorded calls, or if it had been made online, they should have that information in their system. Rather than investigating properly, she simply sat at the computer for a few minutes and then came back saying that unless I could prove it, I had only two choices: accept the male therapists or lose the value of the appointment. I asked for a refund instead. She refused. There was absolutely no attempt to accommodate me, no apology, no empathy, and no customer service whatsoever. I was simply told that I would forfeit hundreds of dollars if I declined the massage. At that point another guest sitting in the waiting area quietly told me not to worry because the male therapists were professional and respectful. The only reason I went through with the massage was because I didn't want to lose approximately $550. To be clear, the massage therapists themselves were excellent. They were professional, respectful, and did nothing wrong. My discomfort had nothing to do with them personally--it was simply that I had specifically requested female therapists and felt extremely uncomfortable being put into that situation with no choice. Unfortunately, because of everything that happened beforehand, I spent the entire massage feeling tense instead of relaxed. Then came the final disappointment. When checking out, the same manager asked whether I wanted to leave gratuity in cash or on my gift certificate. I honestly assumed gratuity was already included given the very high price of the services. I handed her cash. She looked at it, held the bill between her fingers, and asked, "Is this for both therapists?" The way it was said was incredibly embarrassing and inappropriate. Without asking for my permission, she then returned my cash and charged a 25% gratuity directly to my gift certificate instead. That reduced the remaining balance that I had hoped to use for another massage. At that point I decided I would never return anyway. The therapists deserve recognition because they handled everything professionally. The manager, however, completely destroyed what should have been a luxury spa experience. Her attitude was dismissive, confrontational, and shockingly unprofessional. At no point did she try to solve the problem, show empathy, or make us feel like valued guests. I live only a couple of minutes away from Bear Mountain Spa. I should have become a repeat customer. Instead, I still have money left on my gift certificate that I no longer want to use because I simply do not want to deal with this manager again. Management should take this review seriously. Luxury spas are built on exceptional customer service, professionalism, and making guests feel comfortable. Unfortunately, this experience delivered the exact opposite.
