I recently (yesterday) eloped in Cape May, we spent only a few months planning. I found Accent on Beauty on Instagram and saw that they were deva curl professionals so I thought I would give them a try. Planning a wedding remotely was pretty challenging and I had to put a lot of faith in my vendors because I have never met them and didn't know their skill level. Imagine my angst as I arrived to the salon for my hair and makeup. Upon entering the salon i was greeted with such warm and welcoming smiles that immediately put me at ease. I didn't really have a plan for my hair but I did have certain accessories that i wanted to use. maryanna was AMAZING! She just took the wheel giving suggestions for my hair type and truly bringing to life exactly what I didn't know I wanted!! Then it was make up which really had me anxious. I don't typically wear make up and was conceRned I would look like a different person. Again Maryanna was nothing shy of AMAZING!!! She went to town and made me look like a princess. Very disappointing experience. I called to schedule a blow out with curls for an event. I showed the stylist photos of some hairstyles, and it was really nothing overly complicated. It took over an hour and a half for the appointment, partly because the stylist seemed to be over-scheduled - she stopped half way through styling my hair to go have a 15 minute conversation with another patron whose hair she had finished before mine, and took forever to ring up their purchases. I was very clear that I wanted voluminous curls, but my hair barely had ANY curl when I left the salon, and within 30 min it was completely straight. I even told her before leaving that this was not the look that I had intended, and all she had to say is that my hair is "heavy". While I realize that not every type of hair can achieve any hairstyle, I've curled my own hair before with much better and longer lasting results. Overall this was neither a relaxing experience nor a good outcome. To top it off my hair felt starchy all evening because another stylist who came over to help used half a bottle of hairspray on my head and sprayed me without warning so I got an eyeful of hairspray. Very disappointing, and also expensive at $75 for my hair to look worse than what I could have done myself. read more

my fiancé and i both got our hair done here while on vacation and we are SO happy with how it turned out. Maryanna did a great job with both of our very different heads, and was very easy to talk to. their prices are good, especially for the DevaCurl services, which i got. my fiancé is very impressed with their cut and color. definitely recommend and will try to make it back next time i'm in town! read more

Made appt to get hair done for a wedding. Salon team are very friendly and my stylist was talented and did a good job with my hair. In addition, I left my cell at the salon by mistake, and an associate went out of their way to return it to my hotel! I would have given salon four/five stars in this review except I was disappointed with the billing. When i initially inquired i was told that cost would be 25 - 40 but with my shoulder length hair probably about 30 - 35. When it came time to pay I was charged the max $40. When i asked why i was told that my hair took longer than 30 min so therefore i am charged the max. This is the first i heard of this. Had i known i would have told my stylist to speed it up. Salon knew i was an out of towner, and i felt taken advantage of on the pricing - they should not gauge the summer visitors. . read more

So, really really nice women who work in here. I had my hair done for a wedding. It looked great, simple updo. I scheduled just a $35 blow out and then got there and changed my mind in favor of an updo. The reason they are getting 3 stars and not 5 is that I should have been warned that it would be $75 for an updo. I didn't get my hair washed, it took the same amount of time, probably more skill than drying it - I don't know but it was a little sticker shock to pay $75 plus tip. I would have had a better experience if it were $50 (reasonable I think) or to be told, 'hey lady, just so you know, an updo is twice the cost of a blow out.' Off the beaten path in West Cape May, I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Ann for a "Queen Bee" massage. I felt completely pampered and massaged for he 90 minutes. Ann asked me if I wanted a light, medium or firm touch - inviting feedback - encouraging me to tell her if I wanted more or less of something. I was happy with the open communication - she asked me a few times if I was ok and then did her job.....she does it well. I'll certainly be a return customer read more

Staying a couple blocks away, my 13yo daughter wanted a quick wax. The space is lovely and professional and the staff was super friendly - my daughter felt totally comfortable (and she can be picky about this). The job was quick and perfectly done. We'll be back on the next vacation. read more

I had my hair and makeup done for pictures I was having taken. I loved my makeup, it was exactly what I asked for. But my hair was horrible; my fiancé asked what happened to my hair. It looked like I did it myself without a mirror. I was very disappointed. read more

While visiting Cape May in July my sisters and I decided to all go for a massage and scheduled them at Accent on Beauty. We were hoping to each get our own massage at the same time, but unfortunately there was only one therapist available. So we went one at a time with Ann and OMG, she is the BEST massage therapist ever! She asked each of us , as we started ,what firmness we wanted and each of us selected different degrees of pressure. She asked us about what our problem spots and each was different. Afterwards when we compared "notes" we were equally ecstatic about our individual massages. For me it was the highlight of my stay in CapeMay. I cannot give a higher recommendation. Ann has wonderful hands and her personality is so gentle and kind. I wish I lived closer so that I could visit her regularly. read more

On vacation in Cape May from Washington, DC. I hadn't had a haircut in months, and on a whim decided to get one before heading back to Washington. Accent on Beauty was near our rental house, so I called and booked an appointment. I'm SO glad I did! First, Accent on Beauty is clean and relaxing, and everybody very welcoming. The shampoo was incredibly relaxing, the products high-quality, and the women who did it was charming. Finally, Christina, the stylist I worked with, talked to me before the shampoo and noted the texture and type of my hair, etc., and talked to me about what I wanted. She did a FANTASTIC job. As I said, I hadn't had my hair cut in a long time, and it was shapeless and damaged and pretty awful. I left the place feeling like a million bucks. Not only that, it cost $40.00. Coming from Washington, that left me stunned. I'd easily have paid $60-$70 minimum for the same cut at home. I'm seriously tempted to drive the 4-hours round trip in 6 weeks to have Christina do my next trim--she was that good. read more
