Unfortunately we didn't receive the 4 star service. It was imperative that a hospital bed, transfer bench etc was delivered to our home today. I started calling at 9am and was told truck was going to Everett then to our house which is 4 miles from their store. I repeated called all day and was told it would be delivered before 3:00pm. Finally at 3:30 I was told they were loading the equipment on the truck. It arrived after 4pm, it was incorrectly assembled and the driver left. When I called they told me the driver was gone for the day. Because of this I was unable to pickup necessary prescriptions, handicap card etc Needless to say I was very disappointed. read more

My mom needed a new walker and I was only available to take her on the weekend. Many medical equipment stores are only open during the week but this location in Seattle is not only open on the weekend but it's easy to access, has good parking, and great selection/service. I have used Access Medical before with good help and information. This time the only available staff seemed to have poor knowledge of mobility devices. I explained what I already have, a heavy duty Pride scooter and am looking for a mid wheel. This means a midwheel power chair. The staff starts pointing at the light weight scooters. They are not mid wheel. Then finally she says, oh we do not carry anything rated 400 lbs. Many morbidly obese need and buy mobility devices. She had never heard of a common Pride model. It appears that staff has little knowledge of the available devices. The business is entirely based on customer needs. The owner was helping another customer and clearly was knowledgeable on all of this. But other staff are not. Why bother with a store that does not know a specialized product line. read more

Travis from Access Medical Equipment call me today to fix an issue I had with a short term wheelchair rental. He could not have been nicer. They are a family business, around for fifteen years. Let me share the positives: They were open during the hours posted. (I know that sounds odd, but small businesses during this time are struggling to keep workers both here and in Canada and sometimes aren't open during posted hours because of this). We got a human on the phone- not a frustrating series of voice menu prompts. They had the equipment we needed, in several choices. The equipment was squeaky clean and sanitized. Honey, who was sent to get it, was in and out of the shop quickly, with the wheelchair. Finally, good followup. If you need to rent medical equipment, give these folks a call, or stop by. read more

Access helped me acquire them in a timely fashion, advocated for a better price with the supplier, installed the equipment for a more than fair price. I love this walker. I began the purchase of my "forever" last recliner with Charley and his team in 2021. He was diligent in helping me find the best features, colors, and fabric available during COVID, and did all he could to keep me informed and expedite the delivery of my chair and side-table when trucks were slowed by the pandemic. Charley made special arrangements to get a working side-table to me, using his staff to deliver it on their way home, when his delivery truck was vandalized the day of my scheduled delivery. His staff even made a second trip to ensure that the table worked properly, and I live 45 miles from their store! You might think that his commitment to my satisfaction would have diminished following the conclusion of my sale, but when my remote control cabling became entangled in the mechanical "undercarriage" of my chair, severing the power 9 months later, he had Greg at my home with a replacement first thing the next morning. Greg even had it untangled and replaced before my scheduled 8:30 a.m. business meeting, so my workday was not impacted. The purchase of this lift chair and table was a sizeable investment for me, so I called and visited other distributors before selecting ACCESS Medical Equipment. I can't recall receiving better customer service from any organization, both before and after my purchase!! read more

This review is not based on the service or staff. It's based on the fact that Access Medical "accepts no third party payments of any kind." That's right; they accept no medical insurance. If the website had said "no insurance accepted" we would have gone elsewhere. It wasn't until the invoice showed up that we learned it would all be out-of-pocket. I'm aware that providers of medical equipment have a choice on whether to be paneled with insurance companies. I have to say, it feels unethical for a Medical Equipment Service to not accept any insurance. Access-- please have a heart and please begin to accept health care insurance. PS. I'm now getting my medical equipment from Bellevue Medical Supply-- which has excellent customer service, and accepts medical insurance. Interestingly, their prices are quite a bit less than at Access. PS. Why do some of the Access reviews below look fake? We have been coming to Access medical for 4 years for various pieces of equipment for our Mother. The staff is always friendly, helpful, empathetic, and very knowledgeable. They have a large variety of products and have most of the items in stock right there in the store. You can purchase or rent most items which makes it super flexible and helpful. Shevon at Access Medical was so incredibly kind, knowledgeable and helpful when we needed to find a walker and lift chair for my mom. She really listened to Mom and took all the time in the world to explain the options and come up with creative solutions. And Access Medical has a huge inventory of equipment. The only down side is they were not able to help us with insurance billing or provide a superbill, but I was able to get the diagnosis and CPT/DME codes from my doctor's office to be able to submit the simple Access invoice to Mom's insurance. Throughout the entire process, everyone at AME was so great. They showed genuine care for my situation and helped me choose the right model wheelchair for my needs. When I had an issue with the battery, they helped me with the warranty, acquired a new battery (within warranty), and drove out to my location to help me replace it, at no additional cost for any of the labor or transportation, and all in a timely manner. I needed to rent an automatic recliner so I could be comfortable sleeping after a surgery (bilateral mastectomy). They have several floor models to try, and they are not bad looking at aSizes S-M-L and choice of fabric or leather. We easily found the perfect chair and they helped us load it into our minivan. They can also deliver if you want. It's a large store with tons of stuff and great customer service. We will definitely use again for any future needs. UPDATE: I broke my foot two days prior to a scheduled trip to Paris. I was able to rent a motorized wheelchair that I used at the airport and all around Paris. It totally saved my trip. This place is the best. The employees are friendly, helpful, and follow through. I recently had a need for a hospital bed after an outpatient surgery for a family member went awry. I called a few places and Access' pricing and billing policy were the best. They were also able to deliver the next day, within a reasonable timeframe - a two hour window where the delivery person calls when they're 30 minutes out instead of an all day window with suspense and mystery surrounding when they will arrive. The delivery person was respectful, focused, and quick with drop off and assembly. They also wore appropriate PPE without hesitation. When the rental renewal window came up, the sales person called at a reasonable hour of the day and was no pressure but helpful in determining whether we needed to renew and for how long. Disassembly and pickup was similarly smooth. While I hope I don't have a need for their services again they will be my first call if I do. read more

Access Medical saved me from so much pain and anguish! I crushed the bones in my right ankle and tore the tendons/ligaments. The following day I was to see the orthopedic trauma surgeon. Yup, trauma surgeon. My break was so nasty that the regular orthopedic surgeon who came to see me in the ER didn't feel comfortable operating on it. My other ankle was so swollen, discolored and painful they thought I damaged something in that one too which wasn't showing up on x-ray. When I was discharged they gave me crutches and sent me home. I couldn't even take 2 steps because they hurt so badly in the underarm area and my other foot was messed up and I couldn't put much weight on it. They ended up having someone take me to the vehicle with a wheel chair. I knew that I needed another option on how to get around. I called several places who rent medical equipment and finally got ahold of Access. They gave me a few options and told me to come right on in. Upon arrival one of the gentleman who worked there saw me struggling to get out of the car and hurried out with a wheelchair to get me. I knew a wheelchair would be difficult to get in and out of my car as well as my house. So we opted for the next option which was a knee scooter. The scooter allowed me to get around easily, was easy to get in and out of the car and allowed me to get around without pulling too much weight on my other foot. I like how Access gives you the option to rent weekly or monthly. While calling the other rental places they only rent by the month. That's a nice option to have. Why would you want to pay for a month when you may only need it for a week or two. No, they don't bill insurance. But I submitted my invoice and receipt to my insurance company and they reimbursed me. The staff, I think Steve and Josh are their names, are so friendly and helpful. Since becoming disabled, I had found this place to be one of the more impressive in their refurbished department. I HAD planned to make it my new "go-to" store for all of my various needs (which are many), but I will NOT be doing that now for sure. I had emailed about some refurbished items and having them shipped to me. I told them that they were 100% sold as long as the shopping cost wasn't some crazy freight shipping fee or something, and I asked that they consider them sold. Although they responded quickly saying they were looking into shipping on one of the items and would get back to me soon, it took a WEEK to get back to me with prices, and by then I was at the Mayo Clinic for some testing. I responded a couple of days later ready to pay. Matt had sold the main item I needed out from under me for someone who wasn't coming in to see it until the NEXT TUESDAY!!! Not a good way to do business and certainly not a good way to treat ANY customer, new or recurring. I will not be shopping here because they are willing to sell items out from under people who desperately need them to save themselves the small trouble of having to pack it for shipping. Hate to break it to you Matt, but I have multiple disabilities and your company COULD HAVE made a lot of money caring for me... but since you didn't, you won't be. I certainly hope you treat the rest of your customers better than that, and I hope whoever bought the refurbished bath lift on Tuesday really needs it and enjoys it. Sincerely I do. I had purchased a power /lift recliner from them in May of 2019. On Tuesday June 23,2020 my chair back wouldn't return to the sitting position. What wouldn't be a big deal for most, it is for me. It is the only chair I can sit in comfortably and I also sleep in it. I called about 10 am and spoke to Andrew. I spoke with Andrew and told him the issue. Travis called 2 hours later to see if we'd be home. By 2:30 that afternoon Travis was at the door gloved & masked. Not only was he prepared to diagnose/fix the issue, he also had brought a loaner chair in case he needed to take mine to be fixed. He was able to fix what turned out to be a minor issue and was gone in about 40 minutes. Oh, I forgot to mention that their business is at least an hour or more away from my house. I visited Seattle this fall and needed to rent a lift chair. After a lot of searching I FINALLY found Access Medical Equipment - what a wonderful place for any medical equipment you need. The quality of the rental equipment is very well maintained. They were extremely helpful and went above and beyond what is is required to make sure the chair was delivered to the hotel and set up before we arrived.
