Please be True to your Mission Statement-Second Harvest-that in part states, "to provide resources…read morefor education and advocacy to end hunger." As 1 of your non-profit member agencies, please help with our education of how to utilize your recent distribution (quarterly) of: -TWINKIES-numerous cases of -Light Popcorn-48 large bags -Rice -Juice -Cereal-Crispy Rice -Soup-Sole Protein,canned-Chicken noodle, 6 cs. -Mac&cheese, 8 single serving cups -Frozen items-including large lamb cut (1 only) As our non-profit serves our countys' low income seniors housing plus many other deserving individuals and families (60+) , was the above list our "access to sufficient sources of nutritious foods essential to building sustainable healthy communities" that confirms your "belief that no one should ever go hungry"? How are we to "improve the health and nutrition of our low income seniors"? Once again, there seems to be a disconnect between your federally funded "SUNShine boxes" program ("Serving Under Nourished Seniors") allocation: -Cereal -Juice -Vegetables, canned -Fruits, canned -Milk, evaporated -Pasta -Peanut Butter -Protein (Beef, Chicken, or Tuna) -Cheese and our non-profits quarterly food distribution. A reconnect on Second Harvests' part by distributing more nutritious foods remains critical to sustain our communitys' health! Without the above, the financial burden to close the nutritious resources gap continues to fall on our non-profits' shoulders. Being True to your Mission Statements will then earn you more stars.
