I used to have a membership here when my kids were younger but hadn't been here in a few years. We went last week for the winter lights event. The concessions were a bit steep, but you kind of expect that for an event like this. We were hoping some of the animal exhibits would be open still but aside from the two goats in the petting area, a sleeping emu, and some owls...no animals. There was a small musical show with "Elsa" from Frozen also. The lights were beautiful and the kids were happy, so no complaints aside from what I already said. We would come back for the lights again, but would be happier to do so if a bit of the actual zoo was functional. read more

This was a one and done experience. Incredibly small with a very limited amount of exhibits (many where empty). You will be disappointed.

Came for the Winter Light Spectacular, bought the Vip for three people, we felt it was not worth what you actually get for VIP. Highly recommend if you buy vip tickets purchase each ticket on its own booking, that way you each get a souvenir ornament and your own photo. The hot chocolate and s'mores kit was nice. It was a cute walk, better for little kids. It's a super easy walk and honestly could walk the whole thing in 25 minutes if you really wanted to estimate time. Otherwise a stroll and handout could keep you there for an hour and half. Santa is only there until 8:30, highly recommend purchasing a 6pm or 7pm time slot. Our time slot was for 8pm, took almost 45 mins to park and we missed Santa. So if you're coming for that coke earlier. Overall great concept to help the zoo make some additonal Income. read more

Went to the Christmas light spectacular, we're members of the zoo and purchased vip tickets. After several unpleasant experiences, we were planning to have pictures done with Santa which was closed. Zero animal exhibits and no hot chocolate refill stations they said were placed throughout the park. I called the zoo and left a message and an email. A week later Stephanie Timmins, easily the most unprofessional, unpleasant person I've ever encountered basically told me "sounds like a you problem, not an us problem." needless to say we won't be renewing our yearly passes. If you're looking for something to do with the family, look into Longwood gardens or Elmwood zoo. You'll have a much better time for the cost. The only good thing about the zoo is geakers tacos. read more

This is a reasonably priced zoo ($16 for adults) to get into and the food was fairly reasonably priced for venues like this and you got a decent amount. In terms of actual exhibits of animals, it's not a full zoo like with tiger and bears and larger animals like that although they do have giraffes. I think it's more of a zoo to take your family too - great for kids. It was also very clean and laid back. I did not give it four stars because I wasn't really wowed by anything. There was no wow factor in terms of the animals. The one thing that was really cool was the red panda. I've never seen one and it was beautiful and unusual. read more

First of all I think it is wrong to charge 35.00 dollars for a wheelchair. I have a disability where I may suddenly need to sit. When I found that the cost to rent a motorized chair was over double the entrance fee, I couldn't stay for long. I am all for a non-profit petting zoo but they actually charged five dollars just to climb some stairs in order to pet the giraffes. There was garbage in some of the cages, and the animal's drinking containers were bone dry with some dried grass in them. The animals themselves looked unwell. I've lived in this area for thirty years and that zoo has gone downhill for sure. read more

Nice little zoo. Little being the key word here. If you're in the area and looking for a short day out this is a great pick. The zoo can easily be seen in an hour and is in a very easily walkable loop. The zoo is best to visit in the warmer weather when you can also enjoy the farm animals and feed the goats (not available in winter). Don't miss the giraffe barn or feeding (in warmer weather). Parking is plentiful and the zoo is located in a free nature preserve so you can extend your day with a hike. read more

Wine festival being held at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. There were 6 wineries and some food vendors at the event. The wines offered were so so except for one winery that featured some really exceptional reds. The zoo itself has a lot of acreage and space for housing all their animals. This zoo though large in property is just the opposite in their displays. You won't find any big cats there, so if you're looking for Lions,Tigers or Bears oh my! you will not. Well at least I did not see any. The biggest cat I saw was a Lynx and a Bobcat. The largest animals were the Giraffes. They also had a wolf enclosure but the wolves were nowhere to be seen. Went to the Winter Light Spectacular at the zoo. It was better than I expected. The parking situation was not the best, but there were plenty of people directing traffic to find you a parking space. The line to get in was also long but moved at a good rate. I would say from the time we got to the zoo to the time we were in side was about 20 min. The Spectacular itself was nice, the rain deer were nice to see. The lights displays had a modern feel, not the dated displays you see at some other places. The light arches you walk thru were real nice. Everything looked well done and professional. One of the things I liked the most was the S'mores areas, they had three fire pits with big fires where everyone was gathered around to make the S'mores they were selling. $4 for S'mores and $3 for hot Chocolate are not bad prices. The prices to get in change based on the day, Wednesdays and Thursdays are cheaper than the weekends. They also off discounts most nights so check the web sight. You also get a discount if you are a zoo member. read more

We are partial to our zoo in Tampa but this would be a great zoo for smaller children. Our toddler was able to walk the entire zoo herself in about an hour. The animals are active and easily seen in their enclosures which made the experience for our daughter more enjoyable. The drive out the the zoo was probably our favorite part. The game preserve is beautiful! I can't wait to come back and hike when the kids are older. We did not however do the drive through the bison and elk due to time constraints so I can not comment on that part of the experience. My one disappointment was the giraffe feeding. We prepaid for it when we bought our tickets at the gate and did not realize it was only done at certain times. We had to stall a bit to keep our daughter entertained until it started but then a very long line had formed which there was no way our 2 year old would wait in. I think they need to have better communication about the feeding when you purchase it. I did not even think to ask because it's open constantly at our zoo in Tampa. read more

We brought our 3 girls to the zoo and I have to say, the zoo is nothing to write home about. They charge you for every little thing which you would not expect since the entry price is rather expensive. The girls wanted to participate in the maze, but nope...that costs extra! What???? The girls were also very disappointed that they couldn't see tor feed the giraffe because he was being fed by children standing on a platform. We asked to purchase food so they could also partake, but we were told the tickets were sold out for the day...they had to be purchased online prior to arriving. The zoo is very small...and you can walk it in an hour. Our girls are 3 (Twins) and 5 and it was very hard for them to see into the exhibits because of the fencing. It would have been nice if a small platform was placed along the fencing so little ones could stand on them and get a better look. We had to keep picking them up so they could see. It's an expensive outing for very little return. If you want to visit an amazing zoo...take a trip to the Turtleback Zoo in Jersey. Won't be visiting the Lehigh Zoo again. read more

We love the Lehigh Valley Zoo! We are originally from Cincinnati, and the Cincinnati Zoo is huge and pretty well known... so we weren't sure what to expect with a new Zoo. BUT, we love LVZ! The people who work there are super friendly. For being a smaller zoo, they still have some really awesome and unique animals. We also went in December for the lights and it was really beautifully done; exceeded my expectations. Ticket prices are reasonable and there are lots of things to do. read more

We ended up visiting this zoo because they offer a one on one encounter with a sloth, which my daughter was dying to do. It was 30-45 mins with a sloth and handler that taught us all about him, let us pet him, and feed him his favorite foods. It was totally worth it and I'm so happy that we did it. The zoo itself is smaller and outdoors, which wasn't great as it was raining the day we visited. They have some great exhibits and animals for a smaller zoo. The highlights for us were the kangaroos you can get close to and the giraffe barn which brings you right up to two giraffes. We were very impressed and really enjoyed it! read more

I must have high expectations for Zoo's. They do not have any large animals, except for an over-fed Giraffe. The "animal encounter" was a snake out of a cooler. The most upsetting part is that to feed the animals, or experience anything outside of the regular exhibits, you have to pay extra and buy "tokens". We also waited in-line almost 30min to enjoy all of this fun. For a family of 5 it cost all of $100 ...Wish I could get a refund. Not impressed. read more

Goodness, this place is not what the locals rave about. The only zoo animals are the zebras, lynx, kangaroos, the one giraffe, and a couple others. There are no lions, tigers, bears, elephants, koalas, monkeys or any other standard zoo animal. I don't feel like raccoons, skunks, prairie dogs, or a Palomino horse qualify as a zoo animals but those are the main animal attractions there. If you aren't there at the exact moment an "animal experience" you can't get in. 'It to mention, they all cost extra - I've never experienced going to a zoo that charges extra for presentations. The reptile/amphibian exhibit building doesn't fit more than 20 people and so it's impossible to get around in there. Our 2 y/o got a little startled when a bird flew at him in the Larakeet exhibit and stepped off the walkway onto the rock and the worker immediately snapped at us abruptly demanding he get back on the path right away. Ridiculous. In short - The exhibits are laughable and most of the staff are unhelpful & unfriendly. Admission + activities makes this a bit pricey. $100 for 5 people is a lot for this experience. The drive there up there and back down is nice but I feel like that's about the most mention-worthy thing about the zoo. read more

We drove quite a distance to visit this zoo during a special event. They had an up close experience with their sloth, Beans. His keepers were extremely knowledgeable and the even was well run. After getting up close and personal with the sloth we took a stroll around the zoo on an absolutely freezing day and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. All of the animal enclosures were well kept and great for guests to enjoy. We will definitely be back during the summer to visit the kangaroo area where you can walk through the enclosure, and to see the giraffes! read more

We visited here for the first time today. We live a little over an hour south from here. I purchased a Groupon that led us here. Figured we would make a road trip day out of it. There were a good amount of visitors here but it never felt crowded. Everything is quite spaced out. This is a nice zoo for younger kids. Not too big, but enough space to walk around, see some animals and not feel like you're exhausted at the end of the day. My daughter is a little too young for the playground but there were many children utilizing it and having a blast. I was a little disappointed to see that quite a few exhibits were empty but it was suggested that it may be due to springtime just breaking. I guess some are housed elsewhere that can't take the winter weather ? Throughout the zoo, there was very nice, newer signage. They're currently raising funds for giraffes. There's some construction going on in a few spots. Overall seems like they are making efforts to improve the zoo. I like supporting smaller places like this that are trying to spruce themselves up. For people with little ones: the zoo is totally stroller friendly and pretty handicapped accessible from what I gathered. There is a little outdoor eating area where you could buy their food or eat your own. No hassle over us bringing our own food and drinks. Clean bathrooms with a changing table. (At least in the women's bathroom) Worth a trip! The surrounding area is nice too. read more

It's not going to rival the Bronx, Philly, or DC Zoos for size and variety of animals, but this more intimate zoo has a pretty wide variety and is perfect with small children. The loop makes it easy to navigate with even small children and the size means they won't get too tired out. The petting zoo and slides are great touches that keep kids entertained. The unique animals like otters, wolves, and a ton of predatory birds make it unique and interesting. The features like a stand where you can feed giraffes at eye level are awesome too. The price is a bit high for the size, but it's still worth it for a great family day. read more

I had a good time. The Zoo is on a mountain and the view is spectacular! As soon as you go in there is food available and a pretty scenery. Admission was easy especially since we bought tickets online. Easy breezy! The reason I took a star is because even with all the space and acres they have. There isn't much to see or do. I bought coins and they all came back with me because there was only 1 maze that took it and the maze was for reading not interesting for the kids there on that day and then there was nothing else for them to use it. You could feed the Giraffes but no one was there to do so. Again, not much of anything to do and not much animals either which in a way is good but keep that in mind. We really loved the Penguins They we're the best! The Rad center is tiny and we could hardly see the reptiles because the glasses were very dirty unfortunately. Again, it's still a good time and kids love it. For me it was a peaceful trip and I enjoyed myself. read more

Very cute little zoo. Not crowded at all and plenty of staff. My kids loved coming here and the drive through the nature preserve was perfect. There are several "lookouts" along the road into and out of the zoo. We also got to drive through the creek which many people stop to swim and wade at. Very exciting. I just wish the staff were more helpful at the entrance. We bought a membership and a lot of my questions were answered with an "I don't know" or a very unsure answer. I also was not offered a map or a list of activities for the day. When I asked a worker at a booth she didn't know where or when things were happening at the zoo and had no park maps or information. I later found out that you can access that information on their website which would have worked out perfectly had I have been able to get good cellular service in the zoo. That's not their fault though but bottom line was I needed a paper map and a list of activity times. Coming better prepared next time. read more

$14 a ticket per adult on a weekend for the Christmas Light Extravaganza. Insane. Way too much. It took us an hour to get there and 20 minutes to walk through the entire place. Not exciting in the least. It was really poorly and cheaply done. We expected more from all of the great reviews. Now we know and won't suggest it or go back. The bathrooms were disgusting and they weren't even busy. The only plus is that the money hopefully goes toward the zoo animals.
