This is the 1st time I have done so. I usually go straight home. My friend and home health care physical therapist suggested I transition to a rehab facility prior to going home because of the challenges of being below the knee amputee on my right leg, it would be in my best interest and moving towards the best possible outcome. She recommended Encompass because she had heard good things. I can now personally testify to the EXCELLENT care I received over an 8 day stay. From the moment I was delivered into Encompass care until the moment I was discharged and on my way home, I received a quality of care that I have never experienced before. Every nurse, nursing tech, and physical therapist who implemented the care prescribed for me was exceptional. They listened to my concerns and reassured me as to the plans in place to meet my needs. Because this procedure is part of a series of steps needed to give me complete control of my quality of life they took care to explain clearly how everything would work together when the new hardware was installed and I was ultimately able to live my best life. And those were the folks I had minute by minute interaction with. My case worker, the doctors, and administrators were on point to ensure that they clearly directed the care my people implemented and made happen. I experienced the full spectrum of emotions from despair to joy, and my team was there and available to hold my hand or celebrate our victory. And that word TEAM is the most important to me. Encompass gave me a Team approach to successfully transitioning back home while continuing to progress to the new hardware installation. After which I will return to Encompass to complete this process knowing that my Team is there to support my needs whatever they may be in this next stage. Medical doctors (MD's) and doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO's) are both licensed physicians who have similar medical education and training requirements, but they are significantly different in their approach to patient care and philosophies in general. MD's are trained in allopathic medicine, which is based on the use of drugs and surgery to treat symptoms and diseases. Way too often it's all about prescription meds for symptoms and not about addressing the causes, sad. DOs, on the other hand, are trained in osteopathic medicine, which emphasizes the body's natural ability to heal itself. They're trained to look at the whole person, including physical, emotional and even spiritual aspects, and consider how those factors may be affecting a patient's health. Some even use a hands-on approach to diagnose and treat patients, that can incorporate manual manipulations and other physical techniques. Note, both types of physicians are qualified to provide a wide range of medical services, including preventative care, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses and injuries. I may be biased today as my wife is a doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and we're both Reiki practitioners however DO's were my chose of doctor before either of us went down those roads, they just fit my idea of good medicine. Upon arrival the wound care nurse, Deborah Rogers, (please teach her about silver infused bandages) came in the room and was removing his silver infused bandage from his pacemaker. It was clearly written on the bandage "REMOVE MAY 10". It was the 8th. I was putting it back on as she was taking it off. Apparently they have to change bandages when they get there. That policy and nurse Rogers were a clear danger to him. ​​His mattress has no sheet. The night supervisor nurse said they don't put sheets on the air beds. They had him in an air bed, but it didn't inflate on the right side. Due to that he slid out of bed and they kept saying he fell. In the real hospital ICU they had started giving him water and soft food. Select gave him NOTHING to drink for 3 nights and 2 days. I gave him drink. No matter what their policy. In the 6 days he was there they DID NOT BATHE HIM 1 TIME IN 6 DAYS. They kept saying it was up to physical therapy. Goldsmith is extremely egotistical. My husband was awake 6 days, that dr had no empathy. He said "I tell it like it is. If you dont want that then youve come to the wrong place". How about don't act like a punk the 1st time we meet. We wanted to leave but Goldsmith wouldn't take out his tracheostomy if we did. We stayed. Our nurse, Rosemary, said drinking your pee is good for you, something about T cells. On the 6th day we left. My husband said the place will break you.

I should have never agreed to let Baptist Hospital transfer him to your care-never, but it was our first time going to a specialty hospital- so now we know. Two months after this experience he was ready to leave Sacred Heart Hospital, but by now after loosing 70 lbs of fat and muscle from 4 months in a hospital setting- he couldn't walk at all. We asked to try your facility again, but we were denied, so I know where SSH stands when it comes to complaints against them. No worries-he learned to walk again on his own at home. We are taking Dr. George C. Reese and Baptist Hospital to court for not only his botched surgery, but also causing him near starvation and malnutrition. It's all in the records-they will speak for themselves at their trial. Oh yes, we will go to trial because my husband almost died in your facility and Baptist Hospital, so we really have nothing to loose. Wether your facility will be part of this trial is up to the lawyers. If you are really concerned about the well-being of your patients-your Staff would reflect this, but unfortunately they don't. The nurse was very attentive and kind and if it was the fact I was in so much pain I would have remembered their names to write in this review. Props to the emergency room next door as well. The GPS led us there first and they new exactly where to point us to get to the urgent care. (They call it priority care FYI) Overall a great visit and would recommend if you have something urgent you need looked at. Especially if your doctors appointment is going to be a few days away or longer. They will take care of you and be honest with you. Kudos again for helping us find the cheapest pharmacy to get the antibiotics we needed. 11/10 would get sick again.
