Good at sales, terrible at taxes. I don't even know where…read moreto start with the incompetence at every level from Todd (The owner) to Pam (the tax prep lead). They are clearly unable to handle their current workload. Just find someone else. Anyone else, but this company. The amount of stress they bring to your life is the opposite of what is supposed to happen. I'll start with Todd. Rest assured, Todd will be on the call to sell you the service. He will then disappear without a sound. I emailed him and asked to set up a time to talk. Crickets. I asked Pam to set up a meeting with him. Crickets. I asked Bri to set it up. Crickets. He's the biggest scammer of the group. He's a good salesman, but has no ability to run his company or get the work done in a reasonable time. We came from an accountant's office that shut down. They were amazing. They sent reminders, reviewed things early in tax season with us, gave us plenty of time to get docs in etc. NOT Pam. She sends no reminders. She forgets you exist no matter how many times you email and ask for updates (and I don't mean daily, I mean bi-weekly). We brought our business here mid-year with a pending extension. Our taxes didn't need to be done until February 14th (I know a weird date, but note that because of that, they had few other, believe no other clients taxes due that day. Even in this slow period, after I repeatedly asked them to review our file and have a conversation because it was complicated. They waited until the day before it was due to meet with me. Of course (as I repeatedly pleaded with them), they needed more docs that were impossible to get now on that short notice. I only had a short period until 2022 taxes were due and it would be impossible to get a new accountant in time, so I decided to give them a second chance. After meeting with them, providing all the docs weeks and weeks ahead of time, with multiple requests to speak and multiple asks to review the taxes for week, they finally send me my taxes. To review. For the first time. At 5:01PM on they day they need to be filed. Update time: We are facing over $100,000 in fines from the IRS for a tax return Unbenhagen filed that return incorrectly, numbeous times. The most incompetent of incompetent accountants. Todd...a turd. Pam...a turd. They have zero desire to do the right thing and even if they did...I doubt they would do it. They filed our 2021 taxes. We owed $53,000. We paid it. Turns out they couldn't copy paste a dependants Social Security Number. It was returned. They did not tell us, but apparently they eventually returned it. Then the IRS discovered that they had the primary income incorrrect (a W-2 copy paste). This time, they chose not to fix it at all. Fast forward 4 years and we get a letter from the IRS that the $53,000 we paid in 2021 is about to be confiscated and not applied to anything because they never fixed it. Upon calling the IRS, they told us that we have been accruing a 5% per month penalty since 2021 and were now liable for over $100,000 in penalties. After calling and sending numerous emails, Todd and Pam are too good to get back to us in a reasonable time. The only answere we have after a week is "we're on it" and I'm somehow supposed to trust that. I asked for exact forms being filed, when they were filed, and how they were going to fix it. crickets. The person that referred us to them, ironically had the exact same issue and has since moved on from Todd. We saw the incompetence from day one and only used them for the one year. Thank goodness. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM UNBENHAGEN.
