This company is a joke! Ben Barker is never available. Once he gets you signed up he is MIA. I left messages and sent emails and he would never respond. You call the toll-free # and "if" you get a live person, they don't know how anything except how to take a message and you may or may not receive a phone call back. "Using the Chat app on Accuplan's website to communicate? Be prepared for marketing emails." I had a quick question about Accuplan's business procedures and decided to try out the chat app on their website. You must enter a name and email address to be able to chat with someone. I used real information in both instances. The chat was handled quickly and efficiently. And a transcript of the chat session was sent to me via email, which I appreciated. So this should have warranted a 5-star review from me. However, providing my email address seems to have been regarded as tacit permission to be put on their marketing email list. Nothing was said about this or the use of my email information when I provided it in the chat. So I have now had to make the effort to unsubscribe to future emails. For this reason I am rating the experience as a 3 (average). It seems that their chat app is more a sales and marketing tool rather than a means to be helpful in a manner that doesn't impose further on the prospective customer. read more

To all that read my review. I apologize for my mistake with Accuplan. I indeed did have an account but never received any updates throughout the years I had the account until my cash drew down and I was billed by mail. So, yes, I have an account and they reached out to me and got all things corrected. I still have the account because I need it. My sincere apologies for the review I posted. The majority of the time, when I call Accuplan's helpdesk, I get a very arrogant man whose name starts with a J and ends in n. My husband said to me, "He is talking over you." Yes each and every time. You ask for a job status update and it's don't know - when they get to it. It is amazing that on some job plans you can write it out and if there is a conflicting statement, they call. Other times, they don't. If your contract is not perfect with no slight blurs, it's rejected and it's another five days before they sign it. You state in the job plan to send signed closing documents by Fed Ex but 20 days later they haven't. When you ask for a supervisor, the employee says, "He won't do anything." Left a message for the supervisor and sure enough no return call. I plan on changing companies and getting one that has better customer service and treats a person with respect. read more

Customer service reps are nice but something is off with the operation of this company. LESS THAN ZERO STARS. They do not respond to funds being pulled out at anytime. Slow and painful. Sounding almost like a fraudulent company. FBI or someone of that level need to investigate this company! I tried calling, they said no one is there to take our call and to leave a message. That is standard no matter when you call other than the number where they take your money. I tried chatting with them. When I get to the topic of moving my funds, the chat disappeared miraculously and the chat box do not come back anymore....not even to talk to another agent. Just went away. I logged out and logged back in. No more chat box. Then received the chat history. So, I started responding through that. Less than 1 star. Extremely slow to respond. I own land and rental properties in a SDIRA. As the custodian they are not incentivized to help you close any transactions, in fact they charge me $5 for each piece of mail they choose to send to me and charge me a yearly fee...so the longer they can drag out a transaction the better it is for them. I have already lost 1 buyer because they couldn't fulfill on their side and now I have an executed contract to sell the same piece of land from 10/28 and 2.5 months later they still can't just sign the documents...and each time they want 3-5 days to review anything before responding. This company borders on a scam....they take your money and do not fulfill. Nightmare. As soon as this transaction closes, if it ever closes, I am moving remaining assets to another SDIRA...I called 3 and none have reviews like this. THESE PEOPLE WERE A DISASTER FOR ME. You might want to give a heads up to any friends/relatives with IRA's. I put $48k with these people. About 2 months later, I said I wanted to lend it. They said it had to be secured. I got that. They kept playing hot and cold with me, "Need this now." "Need this now." "Need documentation of where your funds came from." THAT one should've been taken care of when I gave them my money, not when I had an investment lined up and depending on me. Finally, I got confirmation they had everything. I waited a week, and asked for a progress report. I got one, " . . . we will be closing your account 90 days from the date of this letter. We have determined that your account is no longer administratively feasible to hold." If you have anyone that wants a self-directed IRA, can you see how impossible they make it? Could it just be possible that what they want is to use your money interest free and keep you dancing trying to get it from them to make an investment? read more

These people make it almost impossible to deploy your cash for other uses. It is obvious that they want to retain our cash as much as possible to lend it at a higher rate than they pay us---hence all the hurdles. I am withdrawing all funds and closing my account. It took 8 weeks to get several hundred thousand dollars transferred to another financial institution. There are many other custodial services that offer identical programs for much lower service fees. So that is another good reason to ditch this incompetent organization. read more

I had my IRA funds invested with these people. When I tried to withdraw funds it took forever and I constantly had to follow up with them. They lost the paperwork and did not follow up on promises they made. When I closed my account they deducted a $175 "termination fee". Beware of this company! read more

It's difficult to find someone that is knowledgeable of alternative non traditional investments and the ins and outs of the funding process. Just as all the other reviewers have said, RUN! This company is awful both from a service offering and customer service standpoint. They do whatever it takes to slow transfers and closures. My brokerage company has overnighted all the requisite docs on Mar 29 and Accuplan doesn't enter it into their system until Apr 24. Each step in the process they find a new hoop to make me jump through. When I call to follow up, they tell me they have everything they need for a transfer and it will be completed in 48 hours. Then, of course, it doesn't happen. I follow up again. "Your file is in compliance, which takes 24-48 hrs to complete." I ask for a manager as the agent keeps interrupting me and insists she can't provide any further info. I tell the manager i can't wait to close my account. He replies "we can't wait to get rid of you." He proceeds to give me attitude but then finds the required selfie and ID photo aren't good enough. Asks me to upload again. Their modus is to stall by telling you everything is fine, then finding a new reason to not close my account, letting me figure it out after time has passed, then finding another reason they can't proceed. All in the name of "protecting" my account... Right Run! read more

They have to many things you need to do just to login into your account, let alone trying to invest your money or even get your money out. WARNING. Customer service is horrible. There are many other providers you can choose that will respond quicker. I was assured I would get necessary paperwork done well in advance to complete a deal I was doing using a self directed 401k. After going back and forth for over 3 weeks, numerous follow ups via cell, text and email and lack of timely responses I was forced to use another provider to get the deal done In time. The other provider got the job done the same day with great communication and cheaper. The service you get from Accuplan is nothing more than a boilerplate document. Please be aware if you are going the self directed 401k route to have accountants and lawyers involved so you do not end up in trouble with the IRS. Accuplan does not provide this which they will tell you, but you need to be sure what they do advise is correct. I learned otherwise when it came to getting proper bank setup to accept funds. Please Please Please don't let these people have access to your hard-earned money. They will not treat it this way. I had a mortgage payment come out of my account for a house I already paid off, and they tried to turn it around and blame me for calling the day before Christmas when that was the day they took out my money by mistake! My rollover initiated 11/6/15 finalized two months later today on 1/6/16 and they immediately locked me out of my account so I can't see any statements or transactions to check my own figures or anything sketchy they might have done. Most people answering the phone are so hard to talk to you can't get to the bottom of a situation if you happen to have something wrong happen. You've been warned.
