Great afterschool…read more Average Daily Schedule: Picks up students from Melrose, Third Street, and Hancock Park. Teachers help with homework to get it finished quickly and correctly. After their homework, students work on math, ELA, or science packets that prepare them for either the year ahead or, in the upper grades more than a year ahead. After a few hours of packets, they get a small snack provided by New Vision and 30 minutes of playtime before going back to the packets. You can pick your children up anytime you want before 6:00. Summer/Winter/Holiday Full Day: During summer/winter breaks (or on non-major holidays on which school is off), New Vision is also open for a full-day schedule. They have some playtime before going inside to do packets and sometimes an optional art, basketball, or theater class. After about 2 hours of packets, they have lunch which is provided by New Vision. After lunch, they have some playtime and go back in for a math or English class with one of the instructors. They have another short break and they have the English class if they had a math class or math if they had an English class. Lastly, they have snack time where your child can eat any packed snacks before going out for playtime where you should pick your child up by 6:00. During the summer, New Vision also has special events for the kids like a water fun day, a bouncy house day, and a field trip day on some Fridays. Disadvantages: The only disadvantage that I know of is that it only covers elementary school. It goes from K-5, but they don't support help with grades over 5th grade. Conclusion: New Vision is an amazing afterschool for kids who want advanced studies, parents who don't have enough time to pick up their kids from school, or if your child is struggling with homework or work in class. In fifth grade, it also helps students prepare for good middle schools such as IHP Walter Reed, Immaculate Heart, and Science Academy meaning that students will be prepared for advanced studies in middle school as well.

Some updates on basic info: - open now from 8am to 6pm - as of Sept 2016 tutition is $1100 (extra $100 if not potty trained) -phone number listed is wrong. correct number: 213-674-7281 When my daughter started preschool last summer, she was 2.5 yo and did not really speak any Korean. She understood some but would always speak in English to us. After 3 months of preschool she was so fluent! And now a year later, she sounds like she belongs in a K-drama. ;) I find this so amazing because at home our predominant language is English (my hubs is not Korean). Something else I didn't mention in the previous review is their summer programming. They always do fun themes in the summer. For example, water fun week -- water slides, playing in "rain" with umbrellas, playing in kiddie pools. They also had world travel week where they "visited" different countries around the world. The teachers actually made little passports (that looked pretty real and must have taken a lot of effort to make!) and air plane boarding passes to these different countries. They made cuisine from the different countries for students to try and would stamp their passports as they "visited" each place. (FYI -- Summer is not the only time they do fun stuff like this.) One year they took the kids "camping"...in their play yard. They pitched tents and made s'mores. The kids had such a blast! The staff really tries hard to make school fun for the kids and I love them for trying so hard. It's now been 4 years since I first sent my son here and now I am on my second kid who is on her second year here and I definitely still recommend it to everyone who messages me to ask about preschools.

I always wondered what happened after I graduated from high school since I moved away to Berkeley. I started going there since the 3rd or 4th grade. I was going through a rough childhood and being supported by a single mother, but everyone there always made me felt included and appreciated. Top Learning Center nurtured my work ethic and endless curiosity. I got 3 years ahead in math thanks to everything I learned at Top Learning Center. Although I did end up changing my career trajectory due to a fun job opportunity in college and didn't stay in STEM, I still got into my dream school, which changed my life forever and for the better. I will always be grateful to Top Learning Center for that. I don't think I ever got to say a formal thank you or goodbye because of how busy I got in high school. So when it was my daughter's turn I knew what to expect & I thought I knew the staff well. Mr. Alan did assessment test on my 5 year old daughter and told me that I should change her time to different days since he will have more individualized time to 'work' with her. I had to switch around my older kids schedule & hire nanny to accommodate to those days to fit our crazy drop off and pick ups for all 3 of my kids. The first day, He worked with her for full 1 hour for both math & reading. She came home happy & she did her timed homework and it was very easy for her to finish all 3 packets daily. Second session, my nanny took her to the center & was told to not leave the center because my daughter will be done in 20 minutes instead of a full 1hr. My nanny then called me to confirm this time since she was supposed to go pick up my other child and was expecting to pick up my daughter after 1hr. I then called the center to ask why they are cutting my daughter's time short. Mr. Alan then told me that she is too young for 1 hr. (but my boys started at even younger age and was able to do it for 1hr?) Also, she didn't have any problem sitting through 1hr on the first session. When I asked why he failed to tell me that he might cut her time short before we signed her up & allowed for automatic payment, he then said (these are his exact words) "your card isn't charged yet you don't have to continue if you don't like this" I asked "you told me it was for 1hr? how do you justify paying $360/month to have 20 minutes of tutoring? He then said "I'm not a daycare, if you need a place to drop off the kids for 1hr this is not it" At this point, I'm shocked at how quickly he dismissed my daughter & I. He was saying that she wasn't able to sit through more than 30 minutes and I should pick her up now if I had issue with him cutting her session short! When I returned back I asked the front desk girl to see if my daughter was being disruptive and she replied no. I asked my daughter if she had gotten up or cried or behaved in any ways she said no. My daughter did tell me that there was a sad boy that Mr. Alan had to work with and she was waiting for the teacher. I'm left wondering if he had more students than he can handle that day. If so, why did he even suggest that I sign her up on those days? Promising me of more focused time for my daughter. Or did he think that my nanny wouldn't let me know of these short reduced time? Surely, he didn't cut her time short when I was the person to drop her off. Did he think that my nanny wouldn't care to tell me? I'm really turned off by his "I'm not a daycare" comment. Yes, Kumon is not a daycare.. I didn't treat like one...but you're charging $$$ to teach the kid how to sit still & grow their learning stamina. It's a tutoring center which you pay for their TIME. I even suggested if he can split up those hour into two separate 30 min sessions and he replied no! lol Facts: before enrollment he promised 1hr. My boys who were even younger sat through 1hr few years ago. He taught my daughter for 1 hr when I dropped her off. He taught my daughter 20 minutes when my nanny dropped her off. (How did he even predict that she was not going to be focused just few minutes into her session?!? Hmmm can he predict future??!!) Owner is basically telling me to leave if I'm not okay with paying $360 for 20 minutes instead of promised 1 hr. He can easily point the fingers to a child and say she's not ready but still charge you for full prices. If the issue was the limited concentrated time.. then why can't he divide up into 30 minutes sessions? I ended up giving my daughter worksheets to solve just to time her 'focused' time & it was over 1 hr. Maybe I should start my own tutoring center :) I lived in this community long enough with lots of friends & neighbors to be honest & write everything truthfully as it happened.
