I went here twice the first time they helped me get strings for my electric guitar and were very kind and helped me pick the tone I'd like plus gage :] and was very quick took less than 5 minutes and i was out, they also refused to accept tip sadly, but would definitely recommend to anybody ! My wife and I have been playing guitar for a good year. YouTube videos mostly and some other online instruction and felt like we were getting no-where fast. It just didn't sound like music to us. I have seen some old reviews criticizing this business, but I've had nothing but good experiences there. Ken was helpful in choosing some appropriate drum accessories for my great nephew on more than one occasion. I've taken guitar lessons from Jud, and found him to be pleasant and very interested in what I wanted to accomplish. The luthier, whose name escapes me right now, has done some excellent adjustments on some of my guitars. I have purchased several guitars as my abilities have improved thanks to the personal lessons at Ace Drum, and their interest in my continued satisfaction. I was glad to see another music store open in the area and on first look this place seemed to be a little better than the local competition with regards to selection and staff friendliness. Unfortunately this guy's got a bad attitude and treats customers poorly. This isn't good for the people who've given him instruments to sell on consignment - if you've left something with them to sell you should think about taking it elsewhere. Based on my experience (see below) they don't care if your gear sells or not. On my second visit to the store I found an acoustic bass I was interested in. I came back home to do some research (I'm a guitar player who needs a bass for backing tracks) and found that brand new Dean Exotica acoustic/electric basses sell for half of what Ace was asking for his. I went back the same afternoon to try and learn why the asking price was double that of a new bass. I figured maybe the online models I'd been looking at were different from the one for sale, i.e. the model at Ace had different features etc. Here's where Ace fell apart - I asked him (Ace/Ken/Owner) about the difference to which he replied in a very sarcastic & condescending manner, "man I don't know, it's on consignment; I don't ask questions!". It was his delivery that put me off; customer service is dying and this guy is a prime example of that fact. Funny thing is, if he'd taken a few minutes to try and answer my questions and/or point out why this one was more expensive I'd probably have walked out with it at the full asking price. Too bad for the guy who owns the bass, too bad for me & too bad for Ace. I'll never walk back in that store. read more

Ken helped me with my first drumkit and has been wonderful throughout, i have asked him many questions, noobie questions and he is always kind and patient truly lisitng to my questions and concern's and addressing them professionally with intrest and care. Was a loyal student for three years, and owner promised to "take care" of me in regards to a new instrument. "New" instrument turned out to be defective and refurbished. Owner refused to rectify the situation and became verbally hostile, unprovoked. Have incident on video. Separately, teacher was knowledgeable but unprofessional, talked badly of other students and otherwise wasted lesson time. read more

I have been buying stuff from Ken before he officially opened up Ace Drums. He has always helped to keep my drumming hobbies alive. He has always been super helpful in any questions that I have about drumming, drums, hardware, etc. Going to Ace Drums is like going home. I now live out of state for school and couldn't take my set with me, but I bought a new one and I am in the process of getting all the gear I need for it. Sadly this store is like most local music stores: over priced and having little options to choose from. The brands they have to offer are limited and they have almost none of the premier drum brands you come to expect from a good drum store. Their cymbal selection is dismal and their drumsticks are outrageous like $10-15 a pair! Since it's one of the only stores that's local I've tried to be supportive, but I have run in to major issues. I first bought 500 dollars worth of high end SKB drum cases (which took almost 2 months for them to order) when they finally arrived the lining of the bass and tom case ripped in about 1 month. I was told by the owner they had a full warranty, but after nearly 2 months of the cases being at the factory for repair I was informed I had to pay $250 worth of shipping to get my "full warranty" "brand new cases" back! This was the owner of Ace Drums telling me this! I have multiple other stories of Ace Drum's inability to do good, truthful, and fair business. I am a professional drummer who has played for 11 years and with over 100 different bands, and I make my entire living off of music! I would not suggest spending any of your hard earned money here! read more
