Ordered blackened chicken Alfredo. The chicken wasn't blackened. The entree, with no sides, was $30, and it was nothing special. The bread they bring to the table was good. The service was good. The entire menu was overpriced. They wouldn't let us have a chicken breast, which made no sense at all. There was live music outside and the atmosphere back there was really unique. There's a huge banyan tree in the middle of the area and it's mostly all open air. Very cool. We would go back for the live music but not for the mediocre, overpriced food. read more

This place is kinda of bland during the day when it's all closed up which adds to the excitement when it opens. As you walk in past the outdoor bar there is an inside dining area with a bar, nice but then you go through the doors and you are in an outside patio which is beautifully lit and has a huge decorated tree. There is a stage and plenty of table and seating. This is where we had dinner and listened to Sweet Fleet a Fleetwood Mac cover band. Food was great , service was great (and it was busy) but to add to it the band was awesome ($10 cover charge). I've lived here 6 years and this was our first time and we are going back. Englewoods on Dearborn has really exceeded expectations each time my family and myself have dined within the restaurant. Having personally tasted various foods in Budapest and Vienna, I really love that the Hungarian Goulash and Old Town Vienna/Jager Schnitzel are both traditional, and so delicious. The Barrimundi (whitefish) Special with the Red Cabbage and Spätzle was also really delicious. The Mussels and the Grouper Fingers were also soooo good. I would order them every time, but I also wish to try the other items as well, including the Osso Bucco, which was unfortunately not on the menu today, but hopefully again in the future. Customer service and entertainment were beyond amazing. Stephanie is an excellent server, and the Karen & Jimmy Band delivered great music, entertainment, and dancing. Tony, the restaurant owner, is super kind caring, and makes sure that everyone has a really great experience. We as well really loved the banyan tree (or whichever tree it is), and tranquil pond. After ordering and enjoying 2 $14.50 cocktails I ordered the goulash. I couldn't eat it, to me it was too salty. I had 3 bites. Waitress asked if I wanted a box and I said no, that I couldn't eat it. She came back and said "Tony" would not let her take it off my bill. I was upset as I never heard of a restaurant forcing a patron to pay for something they couldn't eat. I think "Tony" was mad because I didn't like his goulash. Very poor customer service. I'll never go back. Our waitress was great and gave our large party good service. read more

If not for the poor service, this gem of a place would be a 5 star. We had made reservations near the music, which was a good choice. Our server took forever to even acknowledge us and then forever to bring the drinks we ordered. He wanted to run off before we could even place a food order. We started off with a coconut shrimp appetizer which was decent. We waited a bit and had a hard time tracking our server down again to order dinner. We both ordered the pork schnitzel, mashed potatoes and fried cheesy grits. Our appetizer and meal came quickly and were hot and fresh. The schnitzel was cooked perfectly and was tender. There was a mountain of mashed potatoes which were great. I like cheesy grits, but frying them took away any flavor. The music was fantastic and the setting is beautiful. We were right by the fountain/pond/tree and it was very nice. Customers were all having fun and everyone seemed happy. We would have each ordered 2 more drinks, but we could never track down our server. Interesting that when we finally found him to get our check, he brought it quickly and came back with the receipt quickly. Not all the servers were as bad as ours, so I would return and hope I got lucky with a different server. read more

Atmosphere - very cool. There is some outside patio seating ,with umbrellas, in the front of the restaurant. As you enter the restaurant it is not very impressive. There is a fair amount of seating inside, but I would only want to eat inside if it were raining. Exiting the rear of the restaurant you will enter an awesome outdoor patio area, the center of which is sheltered by a huge tree. Near the tree is a very small pond that has a sculpture and water fountain. There are close to 2 dozen 4 tops, most with umbrellas and trimmed with white lights. There is a nice size bar as well. There is a stage that is used for live entertainment. There was a blues band playing when we were there and they we excellent. Food - very good. The menu is somewhat limited, but most people should be able to find something that appeals to them. My wife and I shared a coconut shrimp appetizer that was excellent. I had the pork schnitzel with the mushroom gravy. It was served hot. It tasted great and was very tender. Service - below average. I debated rating the restaurant 3 stars to reflect my disappointment with the service. The restaurant was busy but not packed and yet our server never checked with after our food was delivered, never once stopped to ask if we wanted another drink or even a refill of our water glasses and our plates sat for over 30 minutes after we were clearly finished eating. I had to flag down our server to ask for our check. All this during a 2 1/2 hour experience. Overall - very good. The atmosphere and food more than compensated for the disappointment with service. read more

We live in Englewood. Our 1st visit was awkward but never leave a negative review without giving a second chance. We waited a year or so before trying to take in another band. We again left after 1 drink. There are so many wonderful places in town that we don't need to give our money where it isn't welcome. The absolute worst part is that the owner (or manager, unsure since they didn't leave their name) lied. He referenced the cameras that he looked back on and lied about what happened and what was said. I can excuse a lot of behaviors but if they will lie about petty stuff, what else do they lie about? I will never recommend this place. read more

Then when we got there, we saw a group of 11 sitting but we were told that our had to sit at 26 top tables that were not together but next to. While in Englewood for work, I checked out Englewoods and so yummy! The server suggested the Schitzel served the way the chef recommends with red cabbage. Came here on my last day of my holiday in Florida after being recommended to come here for the best live music restaurant in Englewood. The music was incredible and we saw two sets being performed. It was a country band with countryfied cover songs with some originals too. Everyone seemed to love it as did I. The food was quite expensive however it tasted extremely good. I had the teriyaki salmon and it was very nice. The portion size was not the largest but it was still pretty good. The service was okay. Nothing special. The waitress wasn't extremely attentive and did not refill my water whilst other tables were getting refills constantly. The restaurant looked good and I would come here again. read more

We were in Venice for a weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday and the waitress at this restaurant made it special! She was attentive without being overbearing which is always appreciated. I wish I remembered her name but I did snap this pic of her. Everyone in our group loved our meals, I had the grouper and it was delicious!!!! The outside patio is delightful and the band was fun! My wife and I have eaten here several times and have always had a great meal. Tonight again we dined at Englewood's and we both had grilled salmon over our favorite salad. Mine was over a Greek Salad and my wife's was over an Asian Salad. We both were served one of the nicest, freshest, seasoned grilled Salmon we have ever had and we eat a lot of seafood! This place had the best band ever. They were the funnest blues band that you could ever ask for in a small chill town. People were crazy on the dance floor. We ordered some dumplings and ribs. They were ok. They did grow on us, but they were small for the price. The band here definitely made the experience. The front doesn't look like a big deal. When you walk through the restaurant, they have an amazing back courtyard. It is huge and very cool except for the cigarette smoke which is allowed. read more
