I called warranty place, they say he billed me for 50 bux and the warranty place covered it. So they sent him back the 50 bux and he was supposed to have given it to me; a year or so ago. Then the lawn mower had to go back to get fixed, but this time they sent it to another place, free pickup and delivery from warranty. I found all this out after he delivered my mower and I gave him a 20 dollar bill and his wife a 20.00 also. So, I lost 90 dollars on that deal.

I went in yesterday, for instance, and the following happened. I walked in to get a replacement cartridge for a bathroom faucet. There were 5 or six people standing around the front end of the store talking. A couple of them looked my way and nodded, but went back to their talking. I walked on back to the fittings, and, after about ten or fifteen minutes of trying to figure out exactly what I needed, I selected a part and took it to the register. The smiling young person at the register asked me if I found everything ok. I said "Maybe. It's hard to get help around here". She looked puzzled and said they would have helped me. I told her "I didn't want to disturb anyone's talking". I told her it was no problem though, because that's not the first time it's happened. She apologized. They were all still talking when I left. It seems they would learn that customer service means a lot. Any time I am there, they never have over a couple of customers. Understandable with the customer service and what they charge. If you are going to charge more than other places, you had better have some good service. All they would have had to do was, when I walked in, just one of them turn around and say "Good afternoon. Can we help you with anything?" Very simple concept.

They never offered help, and if a customer asked one of the 3-4 guys in the hardware section for help, the customer had to first interrupt the story the four were sharing. Too often if the old guys in the hardware side were asked about a topic they would share such bs that it was better not to ask. The cashiers acted like checking out was an inconvenience. Unhelpful and unpleasant. There motto seemed to be "mind-over-matter". The staff did not mind and the customer did not matter. Imagine my surprise this afternoon as I entered the store and a pleasant smiling lady at the Paint desk sincerely welcomed me and asked if I needed help. I was so shocked, I stopped and finally smiled back. Who was she? Did she really work at "Elder's"? In 25 years, that has NEVER happened at White-Jones. When I finally needed help today, I knew to go back toward the welcoming lady and ask a male employee there. No excuses, no attitude, just help. When I went to check out I was not met with a glare that I had interrupted someone's phone chat. Because it was quiet, all three cashiers came to welcome me and make sure I found everything I needed. They were not only pleasant, but they were also sincerely interested in handling any questions I had. Someone in the Elder's management has made some long needed and welcome changes. Thank you. And put the lady at the Paint section with the wonderful welcoming smile in charge of training customer service to the others. And give her a raise. You may have regained a customer.

I've caught 3 instances where they overcharge: 1) jug of 30 Seconds deck cleaner marked $31.99, but rang up $34.99 2) rubber tubing marked $ .59/ft, but they charged $1.69/ft ! (more than double) Don't remember the 3rd case. It's one thing to raise prices, but mis-marked pricing seems deceitful. They need to correct the discrepancies. BUYER BEWARE!!!
