It's not very often that I get to go shopping in a store that's been opening it's doors…read morecontinuously for 124 years, especially one that looks pretty much the same as it did in 1899 or as it did when was relocated in 1913 which was owned and operated by the same family until 2010. There was a short time that the store was closed in 2010 after the passing of the last remaining original family proprietor until the present owners reopened the doors in 2011 but that's like splitting hairs. Believe it or not they still carries staples like bread, butter and milk, but also other essential items for mountain life like local vegetables, jams, and honey to rakes, paint, plumbing and things that many people have never seen. The old original scales and carts can still be found scattered around the store amongst so many other things from the past that would be nearly impossible to find these days even if you have an Amazon Prime account. Although there has been some technology installed, the old cash register from 1913 still sits close by and is still operational if there is ever a need. So while Pace General still has thousands of traditional and contemporary items for sale, it's also a museum of mountain memories and memorabilia that will carry on this family legacy. If you really want a history lesson on the area spend a few hours here then drive around the area and see what living history looks like...

In one section of the store there are two trifold posters with pictories and reports of the history. The walls display more pictures telling the history. Throughout the store are also antique items telling the history of items sold in the store. The store sells local produce and grocery items as well as just about any common item you might need. I definitely would never buy another appliance from appliance. I purchased over $12,000 worth of…read moreappliances for my new house. The installers were completely incompetent and they hooked up the water but not the drain so when we first used the washer, it resulted in water running down to the first floor through the ceiling. I might add that we spent $950 to have the appliances installed correctly. I have built other houses and never had that experience! When I called to complain, the sales person said it was our fault for not checking! He was very rude and he basically hung up on us. Also, the builder who is a very good builder noticed how inept the installers were. They didn't seem to know what they were doing. please find another appliance store.

Was told the stove we ordered (and paid for in full) had been SOLD, and we would have to pay an additional $200 to order an additional stove. This was ONLY the beginning of a terrible experience. The oven door shattered after only 6 months and had to be replaced. Then, a few weeks later, a terrible clanking sound and a burning smell would start when the oven was turned on. It was LOUD! We called Blueridge and they told us we would have to contact the manufacturer. They didn't offer to have someone come and look at the stove, nor did they offer ANY advice. We finally found Appliance Grandmasters, who came out and fixed the stove. Turns out, the problem was that the fan had been damaged during transit! The repairman was able to fix it in 15 minutes! Hats off to Appliance Grandmasters. HIGHLY recommend them! As for Blueridge, absolutely the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! And, our salesperson, Lewis, is absolutely worthless.

Sales person said installer would not be paid until I approved the job which was not true. Lowes never came to look at the job after the installation to confirm the issues I raised. I never heard from the sales person again or anyone at Lowes. 1. 70 pickets were not nailed in the middle; some had only one nail. I had to do that myself and used deck screws. (See Pics) 2. Very sloppy cuts on support posts. (See Pics) 3. Inconsistent spacing of pickets. Some not long enough. 4. Numerous design issues making it look like a DIY project. 5. Suspicion posts were not set deep enough in some areas. 6. Transition area at step downs were not covered with picket. 7. Significant amount of left over materials I paid for and installer was planning on taking home. (Side job??) 8. Site cleanup marginal. After learning how they were going to install the shadow box fence I asked the installer about alternative methods and the response was "it takes too much time". Lowes has a new "customer care" system that wears you out with bot calls and never allows you to speak to the same person. There was all kinds of confusion regarding delivery and pickup. Very long story but this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Summary: Terrible customer service ever experienced Misrepresentations/falsehoods/dishonesty Quality issues w/ the design and install BUYER BEWARE

During Helene their staff was as vacant as normal, whereas Home Depot brought on extra staff and their credit card system ran inhouse only so you could make purchases with a card. Stocking is hit an miss most of the time, you need 100 rafter ties and their computer says they have 200, but you find only 7. I wanted to buy a microwave oven of a particular type that their computer said they had in stock, no they didnt. They said I could get it if I ordered it and paid for it, in about 10 days. I went home and bought it from Amazon and it was on my porch the next day, the price in this instance was the same. The company is impossible to contact, they have no email and they use Chat for questions, plus they now charge you $2 to pay the bill with a check. I just spent 3 grand on supplies for a home repair, every dollar was spent at Home Depot, I will never go back to Lowe's again, and the biggest insult? They just don't care.
