Our family was in Tucson after the holiday's. One of the things my kids always wanted to do was try an escape room. Ace of Escape came highly recommended from the Yelp community and it sure didn't disappoint. Ace of Escape works on an appointment-only basis only which is nice because there wasn't a ton of parking and you get better attention from the staff. The person helping us was very friendly and she walked us through all the ins and outs before she left us to fend for ourselves. We really didn't fend for ourselves because she was communicating with our family through a tablet giving us clues and hints throughout the experience. While we didn't figure out every clue in time, we had a ton of fun and the kids loved their first escape room experience. I'd highly recommend Ace of Escape for tourist and locals like. read more

Ace of Escape was our escape room of choice for my husband's birthday. We had a group of 6 and it was easy to book a reservation online and accommodate our group with no issues. They did a great job of going over rules for the first timers and the instructions were clear. I would just be aware of the construction downtown that does affect parking and getting to location. My friends and I did an escape room at Ace of Escape and loved it! It was the first time doing an escape room for me, though all of them had done ones before. Our room was SO much fun! It had a murder mystery theme. It was immersive, engaging, and challenging -- it was such a rush each time we solved a puzzle, and we were very proud when we successfully escaped with five minutes to spare! We did the Mad Medicine room for an admin retreat today and it was absolutely amazing!!!!

Went with a group of 5 people and did the shooter room. One of the more challenging. We were able to solve it with 2 minutes to spare! Super fun. Good bonding and team work. I went with coworkers. The guide was super helpful and would give us clues when needed. You get to sign the wall at the end and take a group picture. Very fun! read more

We're escape room addicts and try to visit at least one every trip we go on. This was our second escape room on this trip. My wife found Ace of Escape searching Google and the reviews were positive. They were training new staff and they seemed to enjoy working at an escape room and were friendly despite being nervous! We did Mad Medicine as an "Expert" room. The storyline was interesting and the puzzles were pretty hard and we were off to a pretty slow and difficult start. We did gladly accept a few clues given to us when the staff saw us struggling! We managed to successfully complete this room with a 34 seconds to spare! On our next trip to Tucson we'll give them and a different room another try. Was in Tucson for the Arizona Tucson gem show. My husband and I finished early and decided to enjoy what Tucson had to offer. We decided to give it a shot with a few of the city's escape rooms. This one we were very very impressed and pleased with. We did a total of 2 rooms, the Shooter one and the illusionist. The people-- I forget the name of the gent who hosted us for the Shooter one. Tabiltha hosted us for the Illusionist. Both hosts were very accommodating, easy to talk to, and made the experience extremely fun. The games -- Very challenging, but in a way that you appreciate. We needed a few hints in order for us to progress further in the game. My husband and I always try to make the personal goal of not needing any hints, but these gains were just challenging enough where we had no other choice. But here's the thing, If we had just looked a little bit more and paid a little bit more attention, we wouldn't have needed the hints at all. So these games are indeed challenging, but not impossible. I've done a few games where the clues and Props are so misleading that you have no other option but to need a hint. This was not the case. Verdict-- If I didn't live so far, I would definitely be going back again. read more

One of the best Escape rooms in Tucson I have completed all but 2 rooms each time the staff was very professional, helpful and generally want the guest to have a great time in their rooms. This last room we did the buzzer was broken but the host was so nice about it I think she even gave us extra time to finish the room even though we were past our hour. My kids enjoyed it and have that extra time just to finish the room was a nice experience for them as well. However my ultimate favorite 2 rooms have been both the Christmas themed rooms! My group and I did the International Thief Room and we came away from this experience feeling disappointed. This has been our third escape room in Tucson and we expected more from this location. First of off, the production of puzzles were subpar- clues were written in poor handwriting, puzzle pieces were worn out, and locks would stick when we attempted to open them. When we asked for help about this, the person helping us would speak to us in a very condescending tone and would not provide helpful clues. In some instances he would just give us the answer or explain them in a very confusing manner. In addition, the puzzles in this room were mostly find the key, open the lock; there weren't many clues that required more physical engagement. Finally, the person helping us entered the room as we were finishing the escape room and kinda put a damper on the whole thing. We would rate this room a 2/5. read more

Ace of Escape is a local business, so expect as much. The owner comes up with all the puzzles herself. Kudos to her for coming up with so many different rooms. I've experienced "The Illusionist" room. It sounded a wee bit cooler than it looked, but my expectations were off. If you're thinking it's "illusionist" as in circus-like with top hats and boxes-sawn-in-half tricks, it isn't. It's more like "illusionist" as in astrology and a bit of ouiji. If any of those make you shy away, try a different room. I wish they provided flashlights on the table because it was quite dim in there. Some of us had to use our phone flashlights, and that kind of ruined the mood. Also, unfortunately, one of our locks was jammed and we wasted five minutes trying to re-work our code only to have our first answer confirmed by the attendant. It took the attendant another five minutes to come in and un-jam the lock for us. On the plus side, Ace of Escape is on the cheaper side of escape rooms. Their website off the bat provided me with a 20% off code and they emailed me an additional 25% off code for the remainder of the year. 45% off isn't bad for an escape room experience. All in all, we had fun. read more

Great Escape Room! Great clues and fun rooms. I've been to this location twice and each time was an awesome experience. The first time we went with a group of 4, and no one else joined us which was awesome, we didn't want to participate with strangers. It was the medical room and it was challenging but worth it! The second time was with co-workers and it was the traveling room and same experience. Hard clues but it makes you feel good when you can accomplish it in time! Staff is great and easy to book with. I highly recommend this escape room! It's the only one I've done in Tucson. I've done other escape rooms in other states, and this one was by far the best. I'm not going to lie, the first time I went I was a little off put by the condition of the building itself, but it's just an old, downtown Tucson building with lots of charm. read more

You are locked in a room with a group of your assembled friends. You have maybe a paragraph worth of information about your situation. Now get out. You have an hour. Good luck. Hope you chose well. There's locks everywhere - 10 in our adventure, and not all of them were visible immediately. You can ask for help, but the clock keeps running. It's hard to quantify my expectations of escape rooms and from Ace specifically. You want to be challenged, to be pressed for time, to feel connected to the theme or story. Escape has to be possible but hard. In almost all of those Ace did a great job. I didn't feel like diving into the story, or honestly even knowing the story, didn't help us except to clarify the escape conditions. Also, the challenges are all to find a combination, so there's a definite practice effects advantage in the kinds of information that might be valuable. It's an hour; we were thoroughly engaged and entertained for 45 minutes in the room, so take that with the knowledge we still had a ton of fun. You might not believe you're in the world, but for an hour you can suspend disbelief. I appreciate the vintage feel of items and papers in the room we chose. The 70s mustard walls and vintage props help with the immersion. The common/reception area mitigates your expectations: it's gray, industrial and spare. If you make it out, you can sign the wall and join the glory of the other sleuths. Not an expensive outing broken up over the group and for something that goes beyond dinner or movie. Definitely choose your partners carefully. read more

We went their last night for my husbands 55th Birthday. Not sure what to expect we were very pleasantly surprised. Their were 8 of us. You get to "Team " play with your team mates and its great. We all had an amazing time even the skeptic in the group who was a bit negative before we went. In fact next month they want to do the illusions room We did the International Thief room. Another thing I want to mention is I would only use Ace of Escape. The other Escape Companies were so UN-accommodating. The first one we called had strict hours on when you could use the room, the second one we contacted was FIRM on only having 6 in the room. We had our numbers change from 7-8 and Ace of Escape was great. We couldn't get their on the time they normally do so they worked with us on our time we could get there. Again highly recommended. I've done two of the rooms at Ace of Escape, one at their previous Scott Ave. location and one at the new, larger Church Ave. spot. Both were fun and challenging, though I liked The Illusionist a little more than the Six Shooter. The rooms are for the most part very well produced with lots of fun details though a couple of the puzzles felt a little clunky, like not being able to figure something out due to poor handwriting on a clue or a technology glitch. Overall, though, I love the downtown location and the variety of rooms here! I think it's best to go with a medium sized group, 4-6 people, so you don't have too many cooks in the kitchen. I also always ask for hints, because it's more fun to solve everything than feel frustrated at the end! read more

An absolute blast!!!! First time participating in an escape room and now it will become a staple for Bdays and just because days! Wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary in the Six Shooter room. Growing up playing video games and solving many types of puzzles I was right at home here. Challenging but not frustrating. We have done a room at each location, and both were so much fun. We tried Le Bistro at the Scott location, it was tough and with only 2 people we didnt make it out, but we had a total blast trying. We also tried 6 Shooter at their other location, this time we had 4 people which was perfect for the difficulty level and size of the room, we made it out of this one with seconds to spare!
