Good shoe repair, decent job on my shoes. Needs to get a little more organized in the shop though.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. This is hands down the most unprofessional, dishonest, and poorly run repair shop I have ever dealt with. Back in May, I dropped off a shoe and a designer bag to be repaired. When I returned, only the shoe was done. The bag the main item I needed for a trip wasn't touched. I had to leave for my trip WITHOUT it, even though they had more than enough time to finish the work. Then the madness began. The owner kept calling me from July through October saying the bag was "ready," even though life was hectic and I couldn't pick it up right away. When I finally went in recently, they suddenly "couldn't find" my bag. I came back the next day, and the story changed again they claimed that if an item is there "too long," they donate it. Let me be VERY clear: You don't "donate" a Prada bag. You sell it. Their excuses were pathetic, their attitude was rude, and their accountability was ZERO. Instead of taking responsibility for losing (or selling!) my property, they basically shrugged and told me it wasn't their problem because I didn't pick it up fast enough even though they were the ones who failed to repair it on time in the first place. I had to call the police because the behavior was so shady, and honestly I regret not taking them to court. This place is a scam. They are careless with people's belongings, they lie without hesitation, and they clearly have no policies to protect customers' items. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH ANYTHING OF VALUE. I wouldn't let them fix a shoelace after this experience. Save yourself the headache, the stress, and the loss. They will get their karma but in the meantime, let this review be your warning. read more

So one day the shoe repair shop I used for yearrrs suddenly up and closed with no goodbye. I was lost while thinking, where would I go now? I started googling and up came this business. I drove on down to check it out. Parking: Street metered. There's a little lot right next to the shop however I'm not sure if it's for the shoe repair shop so be sure to read the sign. Atmosphere: laid back old school style shoe shop. I mean old schooool!! Service: The gentlemen who I encountered were very pleasant and upfront. They will tell you if they can repair your shoe/shoes or whether you should trash them. Depending on how bad your shoe/s need repairing, the turnaround time is a few days. A courtesy call is given also once your shoe/s are ready. Most of my repairs were successful with no need to bring back dissatisfied. CASH ONLY CASH DEPOSIT NEEDED AT TIME YOU REQUEST SERVICE. Hold on to your ticket or set a pickup reminder in your phone with the ticket number in case you lose or misplace your ticket. Overall this place works for me. Brought in an old pair of clogs, that I just couldn't part with, to be re-soled and rejuvenated. Willy did a great job of restoring them to their original condition. He also provided excellent customer service. He had said they'd be ready on a certain day. He called a couple of days ahead of that date to let me know he had to extend it, and when the new date would be. OMG! I wish now that I had taken a picture of my shoe before. My shoes literally had not cover on the bottom of the heels. These where expensive shoes that someone was giving away. I started going to this shoe repair shop when I moved to a new neighborhood, and my go-to shoe repair shop was a little too far away to get to. I was greeted immediately upon walking in. After explaining to the repairman that I was a first timer and skeptical because I was used to a particular kind of service from the previous shop, he told me that he guaranteed his work; and once I picked my shoes up, if I was unhappy; it would be free of charge. I literally have the same story as DK years later! I'm irritated. was overcharged also, wasted my time, gas and money, and my shoes were damaged in ways. I do not see the hype about this place or wish I had a great experience because I DO NOT like his work, he's too sloppy! I would never be a shoe repair person and disrespect folks fine goods the way too many of these shoe shops do ...sad. Philly has some of the worst shoe shops. All the good ones are gone now. I highly recommend this place, they have to be one of the best shoe cobblers in the entire city. I brought in my favorite pair of shoes (wear them daily, and had lots of wear). Sole of the shoes had several large holes and the leather was separated from the sides of the shoe. The owners were really friendly, and told me what they would replace and charged me a fair rate, given the amount of work they needed to do on the shoes. They returned the shoes in the promised time, and when I picked them up. They literally looked like brand new!! There work and dedication is top notch. Plus they are SUPER FRIENDLY. I took in 4 pairs of chukka boots. 2 suede, 2 leather. I had soles replaced on 3, and 1 pair just cleaned. They were able to get a red wine stain out of the leather. These shoes were looking really beat, and now I feel like I got 4 pairs of new boots. It took a little longer than they estimated, but it was worth the wait. I would say call in to check if your shoes are ready before you go to pick them up. Great to have this service in my neighborhood. I paid $95 total. And some years ago the zipper separated from the leather and I remember looking around to try to find someone who can repair it and eventually it wound up in the bottom of my closet. Several years went by and the leather was not in great condition when I took it to Ace Shoe Repair on E. Mount Airy Ave. in my neighborhood. The gentleman looked at it perhaps a little skeptically but he said, "of course I can fix that." I dropped two pairs of shoes off to this business with the heels debt with damaged heels. I explained that I wanted them to be repaired and I was told that that would be fine I paid my deposit and left. When I pick them up they were painted with black nail polish and looked like they had been chewed by a dog, he tried to tell me that the man that I drop them off to, his partner must've misinformed me on the repair. However, his partner who was there agreed that he wasn't there the day I drop them off and the man I was speaking to was the one who took the order and did the repair. After 20 minutes of him working to fix the job that he originally done they didn't look any better. If anything they were worse. I'll take my shoes spacesomewhere else to be repaired properly. I paid $30, my shoes aren't fixed and I wasted the time going there and leaving my shoes for 6 days. I would not recommend this shoe repair shop. read more
