The positives: I had an early morning flight out of Seatac, and was worried there wouldn't be any available Ubers/Lyfts (it looks like a lot of people are active at the time I needed one though, so in the future I may just gamble on that option if it's the weekend). Scheduled my pick-up. Got a call twenty minutes before pick-up to confirm, guy was at my place right on time. Guy was a good driver. The negatives: Guy had to completely reconfirm my address and destination and seemed really pissed about it. He had trouble understanding me and went from zero to 100 on the phone as I slowly confirmed the address. He found my place, called me when he got there, but circled the block and when he saw me out front he parked a block away and waited for me to come to him. He seemed really pissed in general. I was worried until we got to my destination that we were headed somewhere else just because the three times I tried to confirm the location, he only half repeated it (think: being worried driver is taking you to Tacoma Dome instead of Tacoma Dome Bus Station). I had asked to pay at drop-off when I reserved the ride, because I was worried about pre-paying not knowing the reliability of the service. Driver or dispatch (not sure who) interpreted this as "cash" and the driver was NOT happy he had to break out the square chip. I'm the kind of person who prefers a quiet drive option, is fairly flexible, and I totally get why someone might not be at their best so early. But there's a difference between being coolly professional (totally fine), and raising your voice, mumbling under your breath constantly, and acting like your passenger is a dumbass because you refuse to unlock or open the trunk for them to get their luggage out. Three stars because I am a very anxious traveler, and I appreciate having a service that shows up and gets me to my destination in a timely manner. You could probably do this and spit in my face and I would still give you two stars, because it's that important. Getting the call twenty minutes before pick-up to confirm really alleviated a lot of anxiety too, even though the call was oddly aggressive. Reliability is huge in my book, so I'm happy Ace is providing that. For your drivers: calm down, maybe. I'm very low maintenance, and I actually liked that this guy did not try to talk my ear off like some Uber/Lyft drivers. But when he did have to ask me anything, he treated me like a dog who just shit on his lawn. So, not a huge fan of that. I regularly travel internationally for long enough that it would cost too much to park near the airport, and I usually take advantage of early flights to avoid losing a day to travel. TBD on if I'll return to using Ace or if I'll explore other options the next time I need an early morning ride. read more

Ace Taxi of Lakewood, Washington provided the worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. They were scheduled to pick-up at 10:30 pm, it's 11:23 pm and they are still not here! An hour late and they don't care. Someone I know was depending on the cab to get to work and will be now fired because Ace Taxi did not show up as promised. I can not ever recommend Ace Taxi of Lakewood, Washington. Ace Taxi is unprofessional, disorganized, and worse, they don't even care that someone will be fired because they were late and did not deliver a ride as promised! I can't believe how blasé they are about their lack of performance. They simply do not care that someone lost their job because the taxi didn't show up on time as promised. read more

My mom is 70, living on a very limited income. Tonight she took the cab from St Clare to her home on Woodbrook in Lakewood. The fare was $10 and some change, no problem, right? Well the card wouldn't work and he said no problem, the ride is on him. I get in the house and call the credit card company and he charged the card $50!!!!! That's why he wasn't upset about it not going through that second time. I am so disgusted that this young man stole from her. I'm so disappointed. $50 is A LOT to her. I called the cab company and they're going to have him bring the money back (yeah, right). But I'm so so angry and sad that he did that!! read more

I told the dispatcher in perfectly clear English that I needed a cab to pick me up at the South Hill Mall. Nearly an hour later, the cab was nowhere to be seen, so I called again. The dispatcher fumbled for my information and then said the computers were down. I thought that was strange. Why would she have to look for my information if the computers were down? It sounded like she was excusing her own incompetence, but I let it go. She assured me a cab was now on its way. About 10 minutes later, a man with a heavy foreign accent called my cellphone. He said he didn't know where to meet me. Hadn't the dispatcher told him where to go? I gave her specific instructions both times. Then I discovered the problem - the man could barely understand English. He kept mispronouncing the business I told the dispatcher I'd be waiting at. Why would Ace Taxi hire a man who can barely understand English? How can he understand instructions? It's not enough to be able to drive a car, you have to be able to communicate with people. He called me a second time, but by this point my patience was strained. The bus I needed to catch was long gone. I walked off and called another cab company (which was also late, but the driver was nice, spoke serviceable English and gave me a reduced fare). I'd rather walk 10 miles in the freezing rain than give these cruds my money. read more

Could I get to minus stars? I was at an auto body shop today, rather than renting a car, I called a cab. They said ten minutes, they were 35 minutes which caused me to miss my ferry back to Vashon. I called them a good five times. So, the guy finally shows up, filthy cab and he asks what address I'm going to. I say Pt Defiance Ferry terminal, he says what address? Do you know the address of the Tacoma Dome? The Point Defiance Zoo? So the idiot is running the meter, we are up to $6 or so, I tell him to use the GPS, look for "transportation" and "ferry", he doesn't know how. I told him to stop the meter and call his dispatcher, which he wouldn't do. I finally called his dispatcher myself and told them to call this idiot and give him an address. He then proceeds to drive like a maniac, one of those guys who floors it, the backs off entirely. Then screaming along HWY 16, he decides to take an exit that his GPS is telling him to take the next. I had to yell at him not to. I finally arrived at the ferry to take me home to my tranquil little island with my heart rate at 200 or so. My lovely wife picked me up and all is good in the world. Find another Tacoma taxi company. Because for a Tacoma Taxi, Ace isn't the place. These guys suck. read more

I don't write reviews and I am very picky about cabs for many reasons. I found the making of the appointment to be a bit echo-y and heard the person behind the dispatcher more than I heard her but that's the way cab servies are today... They aren't thinking good phone systems... That said, the ride itself was great. I gave the driver the address on paper, which I suggest strongly in any cab regardless. The gentleman who drove me to get my rental car was kind, funny and kept laughing at my openness. Good for him! He looked like he was having a bit of fun even though that's one of the worst jobs on earth. Kudos. Nice, not smelly cab and a good driver who doesn't rip you off.. what more can you ask? read more

Watch out for this guy!!! He attempted three times to use the right shoulder of a turn lane, then an on ramp, to cut in line!! He came up from approximately five cars back, swerved into the right-hand shoulder, then kept creeping up on my passenger side, getting up to half of an inch from my mirror, until I was forced to move over or get hit by him!! Have never and will never use their service after I witnessed their driver in car #827 talking to someone on his phone, not paying attention and going 25 on I-5 south towards Puyallup from Tacoma. Called to ask how long it will take to see charges from the taxi service, I asked if they thought it may be like a 3-5 business day wait or what the case may be just so that I could keep an eye on my account for it. The first representative "Thomas" I spoke to just kept telling me to "check in an hour, check in two hours" but would not tell me what to check rather it be my bank account or back with them. When I was asking for clarification on checking what exactly, he hung up on me. When I called back after he said there was no one to transfer to for an hour, which then changed to two hours, then back to one hour. I told him I will gladly sit on hold until someone was ready and he was immediately able to transfer me to the supervisor "Matt" who explained that they do not have the resources to check that but those working in office do at 9am. That was exactly the answer I was hoping for if they could not find out for me and I was content with that and even had tried clearing up if that was what the first gentleman was telling me (which one or two hours still would have been before 9am) , I continued to ask another question before he tried ending the call and he began to cut me off. I stopped him from cutting off my question and asked if they made a habit out of hanging up on customers since I was not done talking and he said no, I told him the last gentlemen did and Matt proceeded to gaslight me by saying Thomas did no such thing. I have the phone record and I can show he did hang up and after the gaslighting did not work I asked for their names to which he hesitated and gave me the "Thomas" and "Matt". I am not solid that they are their real names. As far as the actual taxi ride went, the taxi did not take the address that we were going to and instead had us map our way there. Very friendly and comfortable ride otherwise but if you want to be hung up and gaslit by the customer service representatives and map your own ride out this is the place to go. read more

I called them the taxi that showed up was a fort Lewis cab. The driver didn't really even know where i5 was and thought we were already on 72nd street and he was heading towards Yakima ave. I pointed out we were on 68th street and to turn right and go to 72nd to get on I 5. So after that he went straight till Yakima ave then turned so by the time we got past my street the meter was already 5.25. I was going 6.7 miles. When we got there the meter was at 32.00. Ya I won't repeat this one. I would not recommend this driver to anyone. He was on his phone (Bluetooth) and not a good driver. Not of this nationality not that I care but I really did think we were going to get in a wreck. he did every trick they do to get you there as slow as possible. And rack up the meter. read more

Can't stand these guys, they use to have a few decent drivers but they left as well, the drivers try to rip off the customers, offering not to run the meter, just give his $20, even though it is a $5 ride. Absolutely horrible!!! Called to have a cab come out, dispatch says they'll have someone call us back with an eta...almost an hour later no phone call... Need to be at my destination in the next half hour before they close otherwise I won't be able to pick up my car until tomorrow. I booked my ride the night before, the driver called me in the morning 10 minutes before my pick up time and told me he was on his way. After 15 minutes past my pick up time I called the cab company and they told me my drive had another fair and would not be available and suggested I call Yellow Cabs!! I could not believe it! HORRIBLE! If I could give negative stars I would! I needed a ride to the hospital for surgery early in the morning. I called the night before and spoke to a gentleman. I gave him my address and where I needed to go and together we decided on a pick up time of 5:30am. Of course the next morning at 5:35am, no taxi. Since I've moved to Washington I've relied on taxi to get around because my car got totaled. Every time I've called (called couple hr ahead) they are always late, and always have the wrong address. Not to mention a female who answers in the am sounds like she hates her freaking job and never gets my info right. Now to top it all off, the experience I had today with cab driver 818. He fought with me on the phone after I explained where I was several times acting like he didn't know how to use a map or Google anything! He told me 10, took him an hr. Told my bf to shut up and told me I was blind as a bat. On top of that when he finally got us, we were t disrepectful at all he kicked us out because we needed to apologize for our attitude. So I am late for work bc of a taxi. I guess you need to call five hours ahead than an hour ahead. Suppose I am the only one waiting for a taxi but no taxi shows up in a hour and ten minutes after I frist called them. They say they keep sending taxis. Are they invisible? Because I don't see one. Most of the morning drivers don't call. Wish my regular drive was working. So if you get a taxi from them make sure you call ahead of time but for sure I am calling the manager now and later today to complain. I set up this yelp account just to write this review. I set up a "reservation" on their website the night before for a pick up at 915. I then called the morning of my pick up to confirm they received it, which they did but didn't confirm it with me. The woman on the phone was very nice so I had high hopes. I waited over 30 mins for the cab driver to get to my location. Mind you I have my two year old with me who isn't exactly patient. He finally arrives we get in the car. Our destination is 3.3 miles away and according to their calculator it should cost about $11. We get to my house and the meter says $16.50. THEN he says he doesn't have any change. Are you serious. So I just paid $20 for a 3 mile ride. NEVER AGAIN will I use this taxi service. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

The worst waited for an hour I had to go to the er when I called back they said it would be more of a delay I will not ever again call them

I have used this Taxi Co for about 4 years. I needed a ride to and from getting an MRI. The pick and ride there was no problem, but I waited 3 1/2 hours for them to pick me up. I finally cancelled the Taxi Co for the ride back home as my hubby would be able to pick me up on his way home from work. I was able to connect directly with a Taxi Driver who is always on time and lets me know up front whether he will be available. He is AWESOME. When I had to deal with dispatch on a subsequent trip dispatch cancelled my pick up by leaving a message on my cell phone after I had told them to call the Dr office because my cell was dead. Thankfully the staff at my Dr appointment saw me sitting in my wheelchair and called them to tell them they would not leave one of their patients stranded and that they better have a Taxi there in 20 minutes or else, she would report them. And today I called dispatch and was told a driver would call 40 minutes before my my pick up time and was told to answer my phone (duh!!!). When it was 30 minutes before my pick up time I called again and was told a driver would call to confirm my pick up time. 5 minutes before my pick up time I called dispatch again and was told as soon as a driver cleared his car of passengers I would get a call and a driver would be there in 15-20 minutes. I asked if they could have a driver call me now so that I could call my Dr. office. I was told they could not call while driving...it's a odd that they did not mention that in my previous calls. 20 minutes after my pick up time I called again and was told my taxi ride was cancelled. Great!!!!! NOT!!! So I had to call my Dr 20 minutes before my appointment to let them know the Taxi service failed me again. IF YOU NEED A TAXI AND NEED TO GET THERE ON TIME DO NOT USE THIS TAXI CO. these cab drivers are nicer then most in Tacoma. We got a ride with in 15 mins and they call if they don't know where you are.

The cab ride started with the driver, #824, telling me he didn't know the area and didn't know how to get to downtown Tacoma from University Place. (I figured later that was probably a tactic to drive slower and increase the fair.) so I'm directing him how to get there, meanwhile my 15 month old daughter is staring intently at this guy like she's waiting for him to grow another head. Two morning earlier someone I briefly knew, walked into my house uninvited and stole my diaper bag which had wallet and keys. He was black, and so was my cab driver. I'm not racist, but to a 15 month old, they connect events based on the obvious. So 2 mornings earlier, my daughters saw me screaming and acting crazy when this guy took my bag.....( I got it back the next day, missing $2 and change) and for all she knew, the same guy who took my bag was now driving the cab! So we get downtown and he parks. I recalled hearing the door locks click but I assumed it was to UNLOCK the doors...... but I was wrong. THE MF CAB DRIVER LOCKED ME AND MY DAUGHTER IN HIS CAB FOR 10 LONG MINUTES AND INSISTED I PAY THE FARE BEFORE I GET OUT, even though I'd already told him I was merely dropping off papers and needing a ride BACK HOME. As my daughter continues screaming, I unlock the front passenger door, and literally climb up and into the passenger seat and out the door. He is still on the phone with his boss while I do this. I throw him a $5 and tell him to eat the $20 for locking us in, and he can go fuck himself, I'll find another way home. I think at one point I told him that what he was doing was called kidnapping and illegal in this country. What a nightmare, I'm thinking about pressing charges because it was so unbelievably traumatizing and so TOTALLY UNNECESSARY!!!!! read more

WARNING- our cab driver from Buckley to SeaTac Airport FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. This guy could not articulate any spoken words other than "$80 dollars" and appeared to be drunk/ or have severe brain damage. 4 near misses on the way to the airport, including a 50 mph near miss into a curb at an intersection. I had to back seat drive to save our life! Old guy with a beard driver ID# 9662 Car #18. Avoid this guy at all cost! After calling 3 times to complain, the manager is always "very busy" and cannot answer, and still has not returned my calls. read more

I am not sure how they can get away with this legally. We were at the Emerald Queen the other night after a concert. We were staying at the Best Western...we jump in the cab and no meter! The dude ways "$10".....What? He said it was the standard rate. I find this hard to believe. Please check into this practice. Worst cab ride of my life. Cab #13 picked me up at my brother's house to take me to Seatac. He was 10 minutes late, no big deal, I had budgeted extra time as the house can be hard to find. The cab was clean but worn out. I think the engine was one cylinder down, the transmission kept lunging and clunking during acceleration, and the left rear shock was dead which made the whole vehicle shudder when it hit a bump. The driver started out to take a route that would add 20 miles to the trip. I corrected him. He snuck in a few other paths that probably added 5 miles overall. He also almost lane changed into a car and ran two red lights. When he dropped me off he told me the total was $90, when the meter said $77.25. I corrected him and paid him that amount plus a small tip. I will never use Ace Taxi ever again. read more

I called for a taxi for my husband. He has asthma and passed out at work, he had an ambulance called and got checked out, while he didn't need to go to the hospital, they didn't want him to drive home. We have one car and it was almost 10pm so I couldn't call any friends or family that late so I called Ace taxi because they were in Lakewood where he works. First the guy on the phone said he didn't know where the police building was! Then he picks him up, the guy acts confused about where he's going, and then starts hustling my husband about having cash on him. My husband finally said he would get cash at the atm but only pay $25 in all, he said after that the guy suddenly knew where he was going! The ride was 6.14 miles or $17.86 so the guy was trying to hike up the price. I know being a taxi driver probably sucks but who wants to be hustled on their way home after passing out, or at all!! Will NEVER use again and will make sure anyone who takes a taxi in the area know NOT TO GO TO ACE TAXI! read more

I called to pick me up at 5:35 a.m. to take me to a station where I can take a bus to SEATAC. The woman on the phone said all was arranged. But at 5:40 nobody gave us a call. I thought it was okay because earlier when I took their cab, drivers were late for 5 minutes. After 5:43 I called, and the new person said no one was arranged to pick me up. And I knew that I was going to miss the bus because it left at 6:05 and there was no way to catch it. I called another taxi company to send me to the airport. Then I called them back, asking what woman was working last night, because I would file a complaint. She (the new woman) said "I don't know. But I will tell the owner. You can call me later." Is this how you treat your customers? Previously when I was on their cab, the driver kept asking me if I have cash. One time I said no, he said, oh could you go to the ATM quickly, because I need cash. Their drivers are also very rude. I do not normally post any comment on yelp because I'm lazy. But this time I feel I need to because other people should know that if you're heading somewhere, like an airport, or if you're catching an amtrak train, please avoid this company if you can. I called for a pickup at 5:30am and at 5:35am he picked me up. So far so good. I had to go to the airport and for more than half the trip all he did was burp and pass gas. I had to roll down the window after he mumbled something about Homemade Fudge..... I tried to make small talk with him and asked his name. He screamed JACK DANIELS BABY!!! and he let loose with a barrage of farts that would make Howard Stern blush. With tears coming down my face I begged him to stop and he just burped and said Daddy's got a disease known as gas baby so love me for who I is.... And I thought about it and did. I got him to the side of the road and kissed him violently until he drooled blood and I ran the rest of the way using my magic suit that the aliens gave me. I gave this company three chances to keep my business. I am done. The first ride was ok. Driver was decent and took me directly to my stop. The second ride, the driver was very hard to understand and he kinda creeped me out, car was very dirty and smelly. The third ride was the worst and final. The car was DISGUSTINGLY dirty, inside and out, the driver barely spoke english at all and tried to take me a completely round about way to my stop of course resulting in the meter going up and up. I tried to explain to him that he was going completely out of his was and he started to ignore me. Learn some customer service, some english, and find the elephant car wash and clean your car! I made arrangements for transportation to and from my daughter's wedding for guests staying at a nearby hotel. I pre authorized payment for the transportation, and was assured that 2 mini vans would be available for pick up. Ace was a no show for the bridal party earlier in the day, and only one showed up 20 minutes late. Other guests had to scramble with alternate transportation arrangements, and some were late for the start of the ceremony. To add insult to injury, the taxi driver over charged the guests, despite being pre paid. If you need reliable transportation, DO NOT USE this company!! read more
