I contracted Bobby to cover popcorn ceilings in two bedrooms and a small section in my living room with sheetrock and finish with texture. I also had him frame out and finish an attic entryway in the master bedroom that had popcorn and remove an old cable jack and phone outlet on the wall, patching those areas with drywall. I found his name mentioned on a Nextdoor post from a neighbor down the street from me. After accepting his bid, he was quick to call me to set up a time to sign the contract and to look over the job site. He was able to put me on the schedule within two days of my agreeing to hire him. He worked consecutively for three days. He completed the job on a Wednesday evening around 8:30pm. It was late and dark in the rooms, and I did a quick assessment with the flashlight on my phone. I pointed out a couple areas where I could still see the seams in the drywall, and he reassured me those wouldn't be noticeable once everything had dried. I paid him the remainder of the money and we parted ways. Next day afternoon, I was able to see the finished work in daylight with a better light source, and was not pleased with the work done. I was able to see almost all of the drywall seams. The corners in the attic entryway were not clean and smooth, and there were random marks and lines in the textured ceiling. Texturing was not done evenly. The texture was so thin in some areas that I could see the sheetrock and heavy in other spots where it was dripping down more than a ¼" and casting shadows. Texturing was also done with the attic door sitting in place. The door was sealed to the attic entry where heavy texture dried. I had rip that apart to push the attic door open. The corners in the living room area were not completely filled in nor smooth looking. I was very disappointed that someone who had 13 years experience would leave me with this quality. After a couple days of phone tag, we talked on Saturday. It was a heated conversation on both ends, but we resolved he would come back on Monday to fix any issues. However, during that conversation, he openly admitted to: 1. Rushing the job because it was late, he was tired and wanted to go home and go to bed. He finished on Wednesday, yet he gave himself until Friday in the contract to complete the job. 2. Having inadequate lighting to do the job. Even though the photos that he took of his completed work looked sufficient, after seeing the photos that i had taken during the daylight and with a better light source, showing my dissatisfaction, he realized that his work was not great and blamed that on not having enough light. He was aware that neither bedroom had any lighting going into the job, yet he chose to finish the work at 8:30pm with no daylight and only one light in the room. 3. Not having the correct nozzle for his texturing machine. A better nozzle was left on another jobsite, yet he still decided to use one that he had less control of to get the job done faster. He did use the use the word "nit-picky" when I was voicing my dissatisfaction. I feel that I have a right to be nit-picky about a job in which I'm spending a large chunk of money, putting my trust in him to do good work and wanting clean looking ceilings that I will be living with for the next 5-10+ years. Bobby came back on Monday. He couldn't give me a timeframe of when he would arrive and start work because it depended on how early his guys would get out of bed and get to the job site. In the end, the work looked much better. The seams in the second bedroom were still slightly noticeable, but I made the decision to call the job complete with the idea that adding primer and paint would hide it. Unfortunately, I can still see them after painting. I can say that I will not call him again nor recommend him to a friend. read more

Bobby is trustworthy and treats you like family. He knows how to make your ideas into solidly built, sturdy reality. He tries to be transparent and clear about design changes that are necessary due to realities of construction and his team definitely went above and beyond to try and make things work exactly like we wanted. We hired Bobby and his team to install a new catio/dog run for us. While I have experience building cat furniture, overhead storage in my garage, etc, and have no fear of any DIY work, this was to be installed on the front of my house and I wanted to make sure it was professionally made and attractive. I was impressed by how into the details Bobby was during the initial design/estimate process. He outlined the exact materials he'd use, which gave me confidence that he understood the full scope of what we were looking for. I created design pictures to make it clearer what we had in mind. He had me do the leg work of finding the exact materials I had in mind for the wire mesh & lattice sections, as well as purchase the door, dog door, and door hardware to ensure they used exactly what we wanted. The entire project included: 1) Adding a new exterior door at the end of a hallway to lead into the catio (this previously was a full wall with no door). 2) Building the catio/dog run structure itself. 3) Building a door frame and hanging a door (originally we wanted him to build the door too, but due to the keycode lock we wanted he decided mid-project that we would be better off buying a door for them to install instead) for leading from the catio/dog run into the yard. 4) Adding a roof to the top of the catio/dog run to allow the pets to enjoy the outside even when it's raining. 5) Covering the outside & uncovered sections of the structure with a combination of lattice (to obscure neighbors' view of any potential dog/cat poop) and wire mesh (for better view of the nearby bird feeders for the cats) and to prevent any of the pets escape. 6) (Contracted separately by us with a landscaper, since Bobby doesn't do this himself) - Prepare/level the ground and install artificial turf for the flooring. We had this done in two parts, the ground was prepped before Bobby started, and the turf was installed once the crew was done with the worst of the stomping around for building the structure so they didn't mess up the brand new turf. This was the first time I had hired a contractor for a project with this many parts to it, so it was a bit of a learning process of how things go. Here are some of our learnings I'll share to make things easier on both sides: 1) Realize that the estimate Bobby gives at the start will NOT be the final price. We had a bit of a surprise at the end when the total project cost rose about 5K more than the estimate. Some of these were unavoidable surprises, like realizing our wall framing was 2x6, not 2x4, which meant the door we had purchased needed to be rehung on an appropriately sized frame. Others were due to the fact that Bobby is a general contractor, not a specialist, and can't perfectly predict how much work a complicated, novel project will take. He has a business to run and needs to pay his crew fairly for their time, so taking extra layers of paint to finish a wall, needing to demo more than expected due to the intricacies of your siding, etc, will be considered changes on his side from the original estimate that you'll have to square up at the end. 2) Over explain expectations. Bobby and his team are great at making things work and problem solving anything they're aware of, but they're looking at things from a builder perspective. They know how to make things easier to build, but might not realize what consequences some of those design decisions have. In our case, we didn't explicitly mention that the catio needed to be completely enclosed, and Bobby didn't know that cats could climb up to the top of an enclosure. So when we pointed out mid project "Hey, how are you closing that gap between the roof section and the wall of the house?" it took some quick thinking on Bobby's part to resolve it. He ended up closing the gap with wire mesh which accomplished the job. 3) Make sure you understand the full design that Bobby is proposing. I was a little surprised when one of the support posts was in front of our bathroom window. It's only a single post, so it doesn't obstruct the view much, but if I were to go back in time to the start of the project I would have pointed out this in my original expectations better so Bobby could adjust the design accordingly. All told, the finished project is fantastic and solidly built! There are some very minor aesthetic flaws (they used too long of nails on the roof, so they're visible on the underside, and the paint he told me to pick up for finishing up the hall isn't a perfect match), and the catio door is having some minor alignment issues now that will be easily rectified, but overall I'm thrilled with the results! He got us in quickly and at the time we needed to do a big kitchen cabinet project. In response to the owners comments 1. I'm not sure what our vacation has to do with anything. The job was started and completed prior to the vacation. The issue was that the company kept poor working hours and this persisted despite efforts to work it out. 2. The neighbors fence was not in poor condition. Our development is scarcely more than 10 years old and the fence is much newer than that. The neighbor didn't find it worth her time to pursue legal action and we instead agreed to fix the damage. 3. NONE of the overspray was cleaned, as evidenced by the photos taken after the job was completed. There was even overspray on my neighbors house. I would be happy to send photos. Additionally, I had just installed brand new screens and there is still paint on almost every screen, including a brand new $200 rear door screen. 4. My home is a newer home in a development. The paint was reaching the end of its life but had not been "neglected for years." It was originally painted with Sherwin Williams paint and that is expected to last 12-15 years. My house is just barely that old so your description is grossly exaggerated. Commutation would have greatly improved our experience in this situation. Excuses have not. read more

WHAT A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! BEST PAINTER IN PORTLAND AREA! My review will much better with a bit of background on our project. My husband and I have been happily married now for almost two years. We learned about 8 months ago that we would be expanding our family with a beautiful baby boy! The news prompted us to move into a bigger place in anticipation for our son. My hubby has always been a "do it yourself" type. He believes he can do just about anything as good as the pros. I love him, but this is not the case :) . As we began planning out how we wanted to paint our new place we went to Sherwin Williams to pick out colors. We picked our colors and got the recommended paint and my hubster went to work! About 2 days later the majority of the project was completed. I came home from work and nearly had a meltdown! My husband is a decent painter, however, he is terrible at "cutting in." There were areas in nearly every room that his line along the ceiling and the wall looked like those scissors we were all so fond of in kindergarten. I would have to say this was the cause of my first prego meltdown :). After a bit of a "discussion" I told my husband to call Sherwin Williams and get someone to fix this! Bobby came highly recommended from the store and thank goodness they sent him our way! Despite the fact that this was not a "glamorous" paint job and was relatively small in comparison to the projects Bobby is used to, he was more than willing to help. Bobby came the next day and proceeded to fix all of my husband cut in lines. Bobby was prompt, professional, and very respectful of our home. I have never had a more positive experience a contractor! On top of the wonderful finished product we received, Bobby cut our bid in 1/2 as birthday gift to our son! So we sold our house and all of a sudden we have a big crack appear on the front of the house just days before the final inspection. After reading reviews and not really sure who to call I call Bobby. Bobby tells me he will be out on Tuesday which will be the day of inspection. I agree thinking they will see we are at least trying to repair it. I get a call from Bobby on 11/31 saying he just was finishing up a job and could do the repair in a few hours if it worked for us. I told him sure knowing that we would have it done before the inspection and how much better that would be. Bobby came out and found a little more damage than what was first thought but repaired and replaced old siding and painted and caulk on Halloween night. Told him he did a great job and we would be using him in the new home. Had him out the other day to check out the projects before we move in and he is all set to start. I will update when we get done with the new home but so far he has been fair, honest and very good at getting the job done and done right. read more

Bobby and his team did a great job painting all the trim, gutters and doors on the Tigard Chamber building. In the walk through prior to painting, Bobby clearly communicated what prep in terms of tree trimming, etc needed to be done to prep this two story building for the paint job. This project took place over about a 10 calendar day period due to the amount of painting and 2 story work. Their prep and taping was great, and cut in work was excellent. They even went as far as replacing a trim board that they discovered had rotted and was falling apart and couldn't be painted. The work site was cleaned and picked up daily, didn't really know they had been there. Their neatness and communication ensured that the Tigard Chamber, as well as a busy coffee house and other tenants were minimally impacted. All the painting was done by brush and roller and the quality was excellent. During final walk through minor imperfections were noted and corrected. This gave our building a much needed facade improvement. read more

He brought the replacement drawer with him the next day, he had made it in his shop before coming to replace the drawer. Andruszko Painting hired a shady, unprofessional collection agency who is constantly calling and harassing me to pay for the horrible work they did. They strayed very far from the contract and didn't use primer in many rooms as we had agreed upon. They did a lot of unauthorized work and tried to charge me for it. There are dozens of problems with the paint in every room that was done. I provided them with a specific, non toxic paint and made it clear that I did not want anything else used. When they ran out of my paint (because they wasted it by putting 4 coats over unprimed walls), they went to Sherwin Williams and bought the stuff I specifically told them not to use. Don't risk having a horrible experience like mine. Find a different painter. read more

Bobby arrived an hour late for painting and then proceeded to tell me every minute is important when I didn't remove the electrical face plates prior to his arrival. I have children at home, removing the face plates ahead of time is not a safe thing to do. When I called him on being late, he left without doing the job. He did not offer a refund. read more

We bought the living social deal and got one roomed painted for $85 dollars. Definitely was a great deal. They were super fast which was nice, but I think they didn't really do 2 full coats as there are spots where you can still see the previous color. Of the few that responded (it's not the handsomest of jobs, to be honest), Bobby Andruszko came at the lower end of quotes. He showed up, realized he needed a taller ladder, went and purchased it, then came back to take the bulbs out. Realizing I had my hands full with the kids, he made a second trip to the store to purchase the necessary bulbs. I'm a new first-time homeowner and after finally getting the keys was when I truly took a closer look at the horrible paint-job the old owners had done: old paint of a different color peeking through on the ceilings, paint sloppily fallen on the trim, missing trim in the closets, etc. Easy fixes sure, but so time-consuming and difficult to do a perfect job with all those nooks and crannies! I never truly realized the amount of money it takes to just get a home painted, especially after the huge hit of actually buying the darn thing, but Bobby was really wonderful to work with in the budget department. He itemized everything so that we could pick and choose some projects to get through right away and save the rest for later down the road when we recuperated from the initial expenses. We ended up deciding to paint some of the easier rooms ourselves in 1 weekend (wow - SO MUCH WORK), but Bobby and team did some of the much more difficult items that I would never get around to doing: ripping out old trim, installing/painting new trim, painting doors, window sills, and also helping us undertake a project of ripping out the only carpet in the whole home to be replaced with some laminate flooring. They did everything in just a few short days as well and all while I was at work so the inconvenience was minimal, but at the end, the impact was huge. What a gigantic difference to just have some new paint and trim around the home to freshen it up - because of Bobby and his team, I finally started to feel like this was MY home. read more

We had what we thought might be an unusual job. We wanted trim repaired, replaced, flashing added and painting done around our exterior windows. We weren't sure how to go about hiring someone to do this, as it wasn't siding, new windows or straight painting we needed. We wanted someone licensed, bonded, insured. We began searching for a contractor. We found Bobby on Yelp. We read his reviews, checked out the Contractor's Board. We left messages with quite a few contractors but Bobby understood what we wanted. On the walk-around prior to the job to give us an estimate he had some suggestions, but didn't push any "hard sell". Hubby talked with him on the phone while I was onsite. We had him work up estimates for some other projects we may want in the future. We met for the contract signing, he was able to start work in our timeline. His hours are a little odd, but this was noticed on yelp prior to signing up with him (generally 1pm to 8-9pm). The weather situation was less than optimal for working outside (high 90s,low100s) but Bobby and his crew powered through-we just made sure they had plenty of water available. He had to miss a couple of days (one a holiday-that's a given, the other due to the terrible smoke and ash from the gorge fire), and he still came in under the project timeline per contract by 4 days! We ran into some problems (dry rot-couldn't see it until work was started as it was underneath) and had some 'add-ons' but he kept the cost in check. All items of contract were fulfilled along with some "value added extras" involving other windows, some caulking and painting we figured we would do when we have the body of the house painted. This was on my wife's cell phone voice mail. However, we never heard of him and have never heard of his company till that phone call, so whoever was supposed to get that call may get a similar call.
