I was having serious stomach problems because of my gluten intolerance and Lindsey White cleaned up my diet, helped me balance my PH levels so I wasn't so acidic, and worked with me to figure out how best to treat my issue. My doctor couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, but Lindsey had me feeling much better in weeks. It's worth noting that the staff here are super supportive of LGBT folks. I'm trans and they treat me with amazing respect and care. My pronouns and chosen name are always used, even though I haven't yet changed my legal name. it's a very trans-affirming place. If you have a benefits plan that will only cover naturopathy, but not acupuncture and you find acupuncture helpful, the practitioners will often just bill you for a naturopathy session so you can get the treatment covered through your plan. ACCESSIBILITY: There's steps up to the building Mahaya is located in. The building has an elevator and the washroom is on the same floor as the clinic.

I met him before, and he really is a very warm and friendly individual. He did a great job assessing my knee problems and treating it accordingly. He asked about my habits and gave me advice on how to better care for myself. When massaging, he used the right level of force and ensured I wasn't in pain. I felt very much at ease with Carlo and was comfortable talking to him about everything - he made my experience a very positive one and I would highly recommend him.

Have you ever had an osteopath appointment before? Well, I never had until I came here last year…read more.. I was in for a surprise and I don't know how I feel about it still to this day. Disclaimer: I totally admit that I never ever had osteopath before until my 2 sessions with Philip last year. So I don't have a benchmark or what is considered normal/expected practice. But after seeing some unusually perfect scoring reviews from a few, I figured I should give you my input so you know what to expect. Take it or leave it. I had such bad back pain from sitting on the wrong chair at work and I needed to take a day off to check it up. But I couldn't find any available appointments with my usual chiropractor on the same day. So I decided to try osteopath because my insurance offers some coverage and also the few great Yelp reviews I see. Philip was nice and also showed that my right shoulder was higher than my left (I had no idea!) and was able to correct it with some stretches. Now what I didn't know is the osteopathic stretches he did requires his whole body to hover on top of mine and using his legs and arms to curl around sometimes my limbs and stretch a part of my body out. Sometimes he would use his hands to press in places that are too close to ummm... sensitive areas like the centre of my chest or under my belly near where my underwear sits and other areas of my body. I mean golly I never had this kind of intimacy with any doctors in the past (I mean yes doc's do physicals but they don't get on top of you)! Even massage therapists don't go there. Now I admit he was mentioning the whole way what kind of tissues/body part or what not he's working on and how it's connected to other parts of the body. To me, it's all mumbo jumbo. Now I didn't want to stop him or tell him I felt uneasy about it because if that's the procedure required to heal my pain, I don't want my little overly sensitive butt to prevent him from curing me in the most optimal way. This is how osteopath is right??? right? I'm not sure but I feel kind of violated secretly. He mentioned that 2 sessions which include the first initial assessment should be enough and I can follow up on a need basis in the future. That's good he didn't try to sell me more sessions because I don't want to go back. He's nice/approachable and seem professional so it makes it hard for me to even write this review. It's either this place isn't for me or osteopath is not for me! Did the sessions help with the pain? I would say yes. But was it worthwhile? For me nah... no thanks only if I'm desperate. It did ease the pain so that it was much more manageable but not as instant as my chiropractor (I swear she has magical back-cracking power). Overall the whole osteopath experience does not feel as good/relaxing as a massage/back cracking from a massage therapist or a chiropractor.

I wouldn't recommend massage here if you're suffering from any sort of injury as the therapists…read moredon't seem particularly experienced in that area. My regular massage therapist had to cancel last minute and since I was in so much pain I booked a last minute massage here. I told the massage therapist that I had really aggravated my post concussion symptoms, so she thought a good idea would be applying pressure to the middle of my head and massaging that area. Not a good idea as it caused much further aggravation. I told my chiropractor, regular massage therapist, and family doctor what happened, and they were just absolutely baffled why a therapist would do that to a post concussion syndrome client and confirmed that this has what led to a major setback for me. I informed the office of what happened but no response. I'm sure this place is OK for relaxation massages but don't make the same mistake I did and come here for more serious muscular and nerve issues.

I've been treated by multiple RMTs and they're all very good and professional. The rooms are quiet, simple and peaceful (some nice washrooms there too!). I always book the couples…read moremassage and the first two times I went it was very relaxing, but this third time was what convinced me to write a review for one particular masseuse in general because I'm not sure what type of witchcraft TCM practice she used on me but I feel my entire back is back in alignment, my blood flow is back, and my (tmi) bowels are back in working order. Bear in mind with Real Chinese massages, there is supposed to be pain. My body during the process was under so. mUCH. PAIN. I was wailing a lot and the secondary masseuse who was working on my partner was concerned but my masseuse responded with "don't worry I know what I'm doing" and continued the excruciating pain. I did not know this kind of massage was what I needed at the time because although I asked for full body, the first two times i had gotten only back and arm massages... but this one? Oh she absolutely knew what she was doing and did not cut corners. I will warn you thát if you do not have high pain tolerance, you aren't ready for this kind of massage. And even though I was in so much pain, she reassured thát the pain will only be for today and tomorrow there will be less pain. I don't know how she knew I was sitting on my ass at my desk a lot or knew that I was lacking sleep, but I really felt taken care of. They say if you have a lot of pain during the massage it means that there's something wrong with your body. I definitely believe it now. I left feeling like a tenderized chicken. If you come here, ask for Anna or Ada.

I loved the foot massage and I was in a quiet private room which was nice. There was a TV, but it wasn't turned on. I'm not sure if you can ask them to put something on, but I prefer to read my book anyways. My massage therapist was great even if we didn't communicate all that much (she spoke Mandarin and I don't!). The body massage is the Tuina style, and it was ok but I prefer Swedish massage with oil, which is just a personal preference. I chose this place because of their sauna, but I was kind of disappointed. It is really small and it is crammed into the unisex locker room which is also the only place there is a customer washroom. So you have to get changed in the washroom (otherwise the door is open and people are passing by, so not exactly private!) and there is no lounge area to sit before/after the sauna (for instance if you want to do a few rounds). The sauna itself is a bit hazardous, a few slats of the wood are collapsing and there are metal nails!! I have been to a ton of saunas but have never encountered this, as it makes no sense because the nails get super HOT!! It's not like there are a ton of them and you can just sit carefully to ensure you don't touch them, but still, this seems like very poor design. The location is convenient, in a plaza near many bubble tea, dessert places and Asian restaurants. I would go back for foot reflexology but I would go elsewhere if I want to use a sauna.

FInding a family doctor is hard, so when I moved downtown 10 years ago, I discovered that I couldn't find a family doctor, but I could be assigned to a Nurse Practitioner at WCH Family Practice. For those reluctant to opt for a Nurse Practitioner, I can tell you from my experience, it is better than a family doctor. Anything they can handle on their own is done quickly because you can see them sooner than the overbooked doctors, and when there is something they can't handle, it is referred to a doctor in the clinic or a specialist, so it is the best of both worlds. My Nurse practitioner retired last year and I ended up becoming a patient of one of the doctors in the clinic, and while she is a great doctor, WCH is a teaching hospital, so she is only in the clinic twice a week, so appointments are hard to get. However, WCH family practice offers urgent care appointments in the evenings, so if a doctor can't see you that day, you can see one in the evening, instead of going to a walk in clinic or emergency. The clinic is very accessible, something I appreciated after my knee surgery.
