This is my go-to place for my monthly massages because I absolutely love it! I am someone who works a desk job, do not take as many breaks as I should, and some days I feel like I'm carrying all the world's problems. This brings me to why I max out on my massage benefits every year. Aches Away is great especially for their No Frills massages. I can appreciate a relaxing massage with essential oils and spa-type flair, but after about 30 mins I'm a bit bored. The No Frills massage is just that - go in and cater to your needs. Amy is my go-to RMT. I have tried their RMTs, but Amy is brilliant for me because she provides deep-tissue massage and hits pressure points. If I am honest, it hurt quite a lot in the beginning but in the best way. I felt renewed after. Since it is downtown, I typically walk or bike because parking can be a pain. Aches Away is an incredible, no frills, wellness clinic. I've frequented just about every clinic in the downtown core up to Richmond Hill and I have to say that the individuals working at this clinic know what they're doing. They are professionals who studied in their fields, listen to your concerns and really address them and offer great tips to practice. On my visit, I saw Andy, and he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I haven't met any other therapist who is as knowledgeable as Andy and as effective in the one session I had with him. I decided to try Aches Away because of the positive reviews from Yelp so I booked a 60 minutes massage. My massage therapist, Anna was very knowledgable. She gave me an assessment and was able to identify my daily routine and posture on why my body was in discomfort. During the massage, she was able to point which part of my body was tight and worked on those area. At the end of the massage, she provided me with recommendations on how to relieve the discomfort in my body. I had a really good experience. The only thing i wasn't fond of was my massage (physical hands on from the massage therapist) was only 45 minutes since 15 minutes was wasted on the assessment. read more

Faz is very thorough with his work, and makes sure he has a total understanding of your condition before he treats your injury/discomfort/pain. It is obvious he cares about his clients as he will follow up with you after treatments to make sure you're feeling better. I've also had times where I need an appointment right away, and Faz will fit me in as best as he can. Faz is also very helpful in providing at-home exercises that you can try for strengthening your muscles or injury prevention. But this place really gives you the best experience and I went home feeling light as a feather. Oh my god. I love this place. Today was my 2nd visit, and I thought it was time to review it. The first time I got a massage from Faz, and then today I had Brittany. Both of them were amazing! Both times, I went because my muscles were crying out for some TLC. I lift weights at the gym 4-5 times a week, and I was starting to get soreness that wasn't going away. Both of them seemed to have a lot of knowledge and completely knew what they were doing and what I meant when I said I had tight spots on my body. Especially Brittany, her hands are magic! I pointed out roughly where a spot on my back was bothering me, and she said she would find it. She got it spot on! It just seemed like she knew exactly where my muscles were the most sore and most tight. I will definitely keep coming back here for my massage therapy -- and probably more regularly too! read more

Faz has been treating me for four years and I am extremely happy with him. I have several persistent sports injuries which Faz has been treating since they first occurred, and I've been very impressed with both the positive effects of his treatment, but also his attention to detail and memory: I never have to re-explain them or remind him about them, he incorporates them into our regular treatment. I also really appreciate how he reminds me of my longer-term goals like improving my posture and flexibility, and always comments on whether I am making progress or not. I find with my body it's easy to focus on short-term pain, but Faz helps me keep my eye on the long run. On top of all these physical benefits, there is of course the usual mental relaxation and zoning out (in a good way) that you would expect from a good massage. I have been going to see JoAnn for acupuncture for years now. This location is more convenient than her previous location. Each therapist works independently & books their clients on their own which is why there is no receptionist. Keep an open mind & you will be rewarded. JoAnn is the best acupunturist/Shiatsu therapist I've ever seen. And I have seen several. She also has other modalities to draw upon besides acupuncture. She's listed on yelp under JoAnn L Alafriz. Both my brother and my mother have gone to see her for treatment and they all agree she's wonderful. Now I'm trying to convince my husband & father to see her as well. I have been a loyal client of Faz's Aches Away massage therapy services for several months and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Until I saw Faz for a massage session I had no clue how diagnostic and holistic massage therapy could be. Expecting the standard lie-on-a-table, massage-oil-on-your-back kind of treatment, I was in for a surprise when Faz suggested that we start with something else - I didn't know there WAS something else in massage therapy. His argument being that he'd rather treat the source of my problem than administer a superficial massage to temporarily relieve stress. I was skeptical at first, but with his holistic analysis and knowledge of human physiology he was able to focus on the source of my troubles. Within few sessions I started noticing a difference and only then he agreed to give me a full massage with essential oils (yay)! His diagnosis also helped me get chiropractic treatment that complemented his work. I think this approach speaks volumes about Faz's integrity to his profession and honesty towards his clients. He's also training in other associated fields such as yoga, shiatsu, etc. If you are in the area, I strongly urge you to try his RMT services. With a new location in the beautiful building at College and Yonge (same as the Yoga Sanctuary) I am sure that the services will only be better and more convenient. read more

Found this place online because I needed very pinpointed massage therapy to just focus on my right shoulder that was having rotation issues and pain. I found the massage therapist to be very knowledgeable and in just one session she was able to fix my shoulder!!! I wish I had found them a year ago instead of suffering for so long. I also like the no-fuss environment. She was professional and honed in on making sure my shoulder was corrected. She used techniques to pinpoint spots that would never have been done at a regular spa massage appointment elsewhere. I will definitely come back when the need arises. Oh, and I was also 7-8 months pregnant at the time, and was cushioned very comfortably on the table (better than at a specific prenatal massage I had had a month earlier elsewhere that had left my arms swollen and numb.) read more

After reading all the reviews, I went in with very high expectations. I must say, entering the place I was having second thoughts. It looked a bit dodgy,no reception area,just a small room with chairs that leads to the actual massage room on whose door there was a sign "Session in progress,please do not enter". Not sure if the pictures on here are from a previous location. Regardless, my doubts quickly disappeared.The session began with health overview(all kinds of questions on general health,sleeping patterns,work,sports,etc) and posture evaluation. The massage itself was very different from a typical massage you would get at a spa or somewhere else.A lot more involved if I must say.I was feeling a lot of pain during the massage. However, the moment I walked out I felt like I was flying. All my back pain disappeared. Faz also gave me some tips and exercises I can do at home to improve my posture. I first got a massage from Austin, and it hurt like hell! I am super sensitive to pain. But some things he said during the massage made me more cognizant of the tension and strain I was carrying in my neck and shoulders. There had already been times I thought to myself "I wish my head wasn't so heavy". It sounds crazy, but that's what happens when you have a low grade burning sensation in your neck and shoulders. So I decided to sign up for a posture assessment session. The exercises I learnt have been a god-send. I watch the videos almost every day and when I practice them for just a few minutes, the pain recedes. The session also made me so much more aware of my posture when sitting and reading. I feel like I dodged the bullet of really bad problems down the line by having this posture correction appointment in my 30s. read more

I've been on a rough patch with my RMTs and was referred by a friend to Faz. I am happy I went. Faz's treatments are not your regular lie on a table massages, and honestly I was a bit frustrated with those. He incorporates the approach of treating the whole body, not just massaging your neck and releasing knots. His manner is really gentle and dare I say non-cocky :) I've had it with other massage therapists when they know so much better how you should be feeling during the treatment. I had a treatment with Faz today and it was among the best bodywork I've ever received. He took his time before the treatment, asking me questions and conducting a thorough analysis of my body. He gave me practical advice and exercises I can do on my own to help improve a couple of chronic problems.
