If you value your vision, and your eyes, don't risk it! Typically, I do not leave negative reviews, but I feel with the experience I had here it's necessary to warn others. After wearing new contacts for a month, I went back per John's request to check the fitting. Everything was great until then. John removes contacts for his patients, when removing mine he was unable to get it out on the first try, then became visibly angry, shoving his fingers in to my eye to remove the contact, it was so hard it pressed my head against the chair's headrest and his fingers jammed in to my eye. There was no immediate pain, but suddenly I had blurry vision for the about an hour. For months I have been left with severe eye pain, extreme sensitivity to light, and painful visual accommodation between near and far distances. Another optometrist was able to confirm uveitis, which usually follows blunt trauma to the eye. Some of the problems are still ongoing, and my vision seems off. I have always done everything to protect my good eye because the other is uncorrectable. Never in my life would have thought to need safety glasses for an eye exam. John denied removing the contact forcefully and even got upset again when I refused a second fluorescein exam. Also, Jana Lee was always very rude, inconsiderate, condescending, and just all around difficult to talk to. For anyone considering Ackerson Eye Care, don't risk it, and please, never let anyone put their fingers in your eye unless necessary. read more

If I could give a negative rating, I would. Dr. Ackerson is an inflated blowhard, who thinks he is "all that" because of his expensive equipment (which he can't stop talking about), and his 'special', extremely expensive dilating drops which, by the way, are NOT better than regular dilating drops. Be warned: half way into your exam he sends you out to his optical shop where they give you an intimidating, hard sell on their glasses. Then, to add insult to injury, the prescription they gave to me was for reading glasses - which I never intended to buy - instead of my myopic prescription. I will never, ever recommend Dr. Ackerson to anyone. And just FYI: there are some great OPHTHAMOLOGISTS in Heber City. read more

5 out of 5 for sure! This is the eye doctor you've been look for. Dr. Ackerson genuinely cares about his patients and has gone out of his way again and again to help me out. I had an issue with my eye but had moved out of town so I thought to try out a highly recommended eye doctor in my new area. This doctor told me that there was no issue and it was 'just the way my eye was now. He said I could either live with it or do an expensive cosmetic surgery'. I decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Ackerson. Ackerson quickly diagnosed my issue (no surgery needed) There was definitely something fixable going on with my eye. I will be making the drive to see him from here on out, his expertise is worth it! read more

Customer service poor. Went in to have frames adjusted- while adjusting the frames they from them because " too much pressure was applied." The person spent more time visiting with another staff person and probably did not pay attention to what she was supposed to be doing. Now I have frames taped with black tape- the frames were pricey also. They said they could have new frames back in a week and a half!' Not happy! Go to experienced service providers! read more

I have never been more impressed with any doctor than with Dr. Ackerson. He does not waste your time, and he knows exactly what you need in regards to eye care. He gives you options and explains them - he will even explain the substance that the contact lenses are made of! Its fascinating, and he gives you the best option at the cheapest price. I was visiting from out of state in May when the frame of my glasses broke. They were not fixable. I visited another eye care center that basicly told me nothing could be done and offered no other solution. Since I need my glasses everyday there was no way I could go without them. I then found and visited Ackerson Eyecare. The staff were so very helpful. One staff member took the time not only calling the manufacture of my frames to see if they could get a replacement, but also went to look for another frame that my current lens would fit into. After almost an hour she found a frame, that though not perfect, my lens would fit into and get me by until I could get home and go to my own Optometrists. Love this office after only one visit. Staff is amazing I definitely recommend this office. read more
