When time is not of the essence I would rather travel to Thornaby or Yarm post office, where the ladies are helpful and friendly and not ready to snap if asked for proof of postage. Ingleby post office have twice sent me to Thornaby because my parcels were too large to fit through their window. Twice I was told that Thornaby "has a bigger window to take large parcels". In fact Thornaby's window is the same size as Ingleby's, but the manager said he welcomes Ingleby's business and their policy is to open the door to take parcels in. He added that his post office happily welcomes Ingleby's growing ebay business community and that nothing is too much work for his staff. Perhaps the staff at Ingleby Barwick post office would benefit from a course in customer service and business etiquette?

There's never really a queuing problem, even at busy times as there's enough staff to keep the queues flowing nicely. There's a small selection of stationery and packaging products as well as a few gifts and books available to purchase and a stamp machine so you don't need to queue if you only require 1st or 2nd class stamps. There's 2 entrances to the post office, one of which is designed for wheel chair users.

At Christmas they saved me quite a lot of money by telling me I hadn't missed the last post date for second class. The car park out the back has been changed to 2 hour disk parking which seems to have solved the problem of having to wait ages to find a space.
