The room was large and comfortable, the staff was helpful and friendly. I stayed for two weeks and had no complaints. The Bistro is where the breakfast portion of B&B was served. Open to the public it can get a little busy but they always took good care of me. The menu wasn't extensive but the food was far better than any hotel breakfast I've had recently. read more

I'd stayed here once before a few years back but for whatever reason hadn't been back since. This place definitely left an impression this time and will be my new go-to for Lynchburg visits! The king suite was roomy and had a balcony with a decent view. Very comfy and cozy, but also perfect for an extended stay with a nice little kitchen setup and full sized closet. The staff was really the highlight of this trip. Wanda and another lady at the front desk (whose name I failed to ask for) were both lovely, friendly and conversational. We were staying with a dog who's dealing with a bit of separation anxiety and a bit noiser than usual (it's a very QUIET place) and they were very patient with both us and our doggo. We also had a lovely breakfast on the balcony in the bistro (which allows dogs outside) and our server was attentive and charming. Definitely good for a quiet getaway. Leave the loud parties at home and remember this is a place people go to recline and relax! read more

Spent the long July 4th weekend at the Acorn Lodge and loved it. We were a very late arrival--1:30 am--and they had our room waiting for us with a nice note. My wife enjoyed an in-room message as the spa was closed Sunday. She goes to some nice spas and said it was as good as any and cheaper by half or more. Stayed here for my wedding weekend. First two nights my bridesmaids and I stayed and even walked next door and got our hair done at the Salon on site the morning of the wedding. The night of the wedding my husband and I stayed in the honeymoon suite which had the biggest greatest hot tub I've ever used! Besides the noise that woke us up at 6am the next morning ( I guess they had to break a door open downstairs?) It was beyond comfortable and hospitable. The Bistro is wonderful too! The food and service are really bad. I walked in and was right away hit with the "old folks home" smell in the dining area. The waitress was coarse and far too casual--I was convinced I wanted to leave and just go to IHOP--my party convinced me to stay. while we were placing our order my mother asked if they had real maple syrup--just a question--very friendly...the "waitress" stated "...i mean i can give you some from my own personal stash.."--we all place our orders, I ordered a Monte Cristo..you know the ham/turkey and swiss sandwich dipped in donut batter and deep fried (terrible for you but so delicious)...i got a dry ham and swiss sandwich between two pieces of french toast...and it wasnt even good french toast...my teeange daughter her friend and my 7 yr old niece barely touched their plates bc everything tasted like a pan...like an unwashed pan--I tasted it and can confirm their assessment. meanwhile we have the two cooks learing at us while we ate...the waitress came by and asked how everything was...my mom in a very pleasant tone said "...well..."--the waitress looks at her and says " well, what? whats wrong with it"---every one of us at the table were taken aback with that question from the waitress...it was rude and curt and uncalled for---my mom went ahead and told the waitress what was wrong...we never got an apology and the waitress walked off in a huff and said nothing. My mom pleaded with me to NOT leave a tip...i left a $4 tip...the service and food were not worth it but i get it...as I am leaving the waitress stalked behind me and slammed the door behind me as i left...the worst service the worst food...NEVER go there...at least not to eat... read more

This is by far the best place I have ever stayed!! We stayed in the VIP suite, and it was fabulous..a ridiculously soft king size bed (thread count was very high), a huge jacuzzi tub, an inwall fireplace (very romantic), plus a private deck and lots of space, not to mention the full kitchen, which also had any dishes you may need.There were many little touches that made it very special and we truly hated to leave.. It was nice because each room has a private entrance so you don't feel like you are vacationing with strangers like at some B & B's. They also have a breakfast bar and exercise equipment. This is the best kept secret in Lynchburg, and once you stay there you won't want to go anywhere else!! read more

It was a nice place to stay, but not for the $175 they charged (and that was a special rate down $50) for the jaccuzi room. After a long drive it was nice to have a king size bed and clean linens with fluffy pillows to sleep on. The previous yelp reviews were great, so we picked this place. Also my husband's back was hurting from the drive so we opted for the juccuzi suite. The design of the bathroom was awkward, the placement of the tub was more than a foot way from the side of the ledge, making it almost impossible to get in. (Need a step stool or something) See photo. The jets were too low to hit his back. The candles and flowers were a nice touch and the decorating was elegant. Furniture was classy and timeless. The staff was super friendly and ready to help out. I found the fake fireplaces everywhere a bit on the cheesy side. We had a small living area and kitchenette, but no water glasses?? Breakfast was good, but nothing spectacular for a bed and breakfast. French toast was on regular toast, potatoes with no seasoning. Maybe they should have a signature Acorn dish - apple fritters, cheddar biscuits, brioche French toast! Just a thought for the price! read more

The worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. First no person greeted us, it was only the flies inside the lobby. Second upon entering the room to go to the bathroom, piles of hair were laying on the floor. Not just one hair, we are talking at least twenty. Third, the air conditioning unit was so noisy that the thought of sleeping was impossible. The whole place was under construction which we were not notified of before hand. The pictures make this place out to be great, but it was anything but great. We booked for three nights, but left after only one. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, ever. read more

It's been awhile since the last time my husband and I stayed there. I still think about it with fond memories. Robert and Wanda, the owners, were so nice. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. In the evening my husband and I would sit at the bar, in the lobby, and have a glass of wine with Robert and some of the other guests. The lodge is so beautiful. We've stayed in three different rooms and they were all very nice. Each room was different. The first time we stayed there we were only going to be there for a few days. We liked it so much that we ended up staying over a week. Since that first time we've been back three times. The rooms are more like staying in an apartment. Most of them have full kitchens and dining areas. The beds are so comfortable. Everything is clean. You know thought went into everything from the big bottles of shampoo and body wash in the bathrooms to the quality robes and towels. In the morning we went downstairs for a delicious breakfast especially cooked for us. Everything was so beautiful. The grounds were lovely. There was even a fenced in area in the back where you could walk your dog. Did I mention pets are allowed, although there is an extra charge? I have never been to the spa next door. I don't know if it is run by the same people that run the lodge. I've stayed at several hotels in Lynchburg and none compares to Acorn Hill Lodge. read more

We were in Lynchburg during the awful post storm week of July 4th. We came in fairly late after having been turned away by half a dozen hotels that had no rooms. We even had one insist we could have a room with a 3 night minimum.... A young lady at one of the hotels recommended the Acorn Hill Lodge and Spa and we called and talked with Wanda who was extremely courteous and understanding. She told us they had one room left and explained they had just gotten their power back on themselves so it might take a few minutes for the room to cool. We went not knowing what to expect and were very surprised at how lovely the Inn was even though it is undergoing some renovations. The owners, Wanda and Robert, were so kind and thoughtful. The room was wonderful. Best night sleep we had all week. WE highly recommend the Acorn Hill Lodge and Spa.. Wonderful people and wonderful accomodations. read more

Hospitality is being able to accommodating guest of all experience levels. From the first time planners to the expert level planners and everyone in between. I was absolutely smitten by this cute lodge but I but I guess the saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover" still holds true to even event spaces. The women I spoke to was very sharp with her responses and her lack of care and helpfulness completely turned me off to planning any type of event here. I called to get a price range of their event space and what was included in that price, she admitted to tapping her fingers on the desk, impatiently waiting for me to give her more information. I have been planning events for a while and when I have asked for an average price they are able to provide one on the spot or POLITELY ask for more information. In a very irritated voice she she gave me a price and after the third time asking what was included in that price she was sassy in her response. I asked if she would send me an e-mail listing prices for spaces but instead of having the time to send that, she was able to respond to my e-mail requesting to speak to a manager. I give her credit though for being the ONLY ONE at the facility if she is the only one answering phones, sending e-mails, and being the manager, she implied to be. However, maybe she could use more assistance so guest can be properly taken care of. Maybe I just got unlucky with the one staff member today, that seemed to be the only staff member. However, Customer service is the doorway to the experience in the future and the lack of customer service and hospitality provided, reveals that the experience probably is not going to be any better. read more

I've been getting my hair cut, dyed, whatever here now for some time and am always happy with the service. If you try them out ask for Andra she is the best stylist in town. I hear a ton of great things about the Bistro as well even though I haven't been able to go yet. I have met some of the staff and they are really laid back and friendly. I know the Bistro hasn't been open more than a month or so and that they are still working out some kinks but I hear great things and can't wait to try it ! read more

We stayed here for our wedding night and could not have asked for better accommodations. The inn keeper was SO helpful and attentive to everything we could have asked for. This is my seventh time staying at Acorn Hill and with each visit, it just keeps getting better and better. On this occasion I brought my boyfriend and we stayed in their most romantic suite! (So of course now we're talking about how fabulous it would be to get married here!) We've become friends with most of the staff at this point - they always remember me (and how I love their front desk cookies). They are delightful and perky at all hours of the day, even when it's crazy Christmas season. I stayed here a couple weeks ago and spend much of my work life on the road. This was literally the best place I have stayed all year!! My room was beautiful and complete with access to a balcony, kitchen in my room and an amazingly beautiful bathroom. And, there are free cookies in addition to play time with a few pups that live on the premises! The staff was extremely engaging and friendly on top of it! I don't have too many reasons to visit Lynchburg during the year...but I may have to find some new ones just to come back here!! read more

I can only comment on the food, service and price in their dining room. We were there for a post graduation reception for a group of about 60 family, friends, classmates and team mates. The dining area was clean and nice enough(plain). The people were nice enough. The price was ridiculous. $18.50(previously reported as $24 in error) a person for hamburgers, hotdogs, pasta salad, condiments, cookies, chips, soft drinks(buffet style). There may have been 1 or 2 more items but nothing more substantial than that. It looked like someone hit Costco on the way in to work and I'm being serious(the only thing I'm not 100% sure you could get there would be the pasta salad). If I ate more than $5.00 worth of food I would be surprised. I understand they want/need to make money this was crazy money. read more

We did not stay at the Inn but ate at the restaurant. Let me start off by saying, I never raved about chicken, but this is the best chicken I ever had. It was smoked with the perfect amount and type of spices. It was tender and amazing. The fries are also fresh cut along with many other items they make are fresh and home made... We (2 adults, 2 small children) have stayed here twice. The first time it felt like things were being renovated, and while it still fills a little that way (some of the baseboards don't have top moldings), this place is delightful. They have a great breakfast now (the spicy ketchup is great) and the rooms are everything you need. The staff brought us in a twin bed for our older child and pack in play for the younger. They even mailed us a library book that we forgot. They've got ducks and puppies and free cookies! Our only minuscule complaints were that the coffee pot wasn't clean and the main bedroom could have used a full length mirror (or any sort of mirror actually). But really, we will absolutely stay here again, when we come back to Lynchburg. read more

I would highly recommend Acorn Hill for any special, small event that you have coming up. My daughter was married there on April 5th of this year, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the facility. Robert, the owner, worked with me from day one to make sure that everything that I requested for the big day would be provided. Donna and Kathleen, the event coordinators, could not have been more helpful and professional. They truly do it ALL! Robert, the Innkeeper, was an invaluable member of the team, as he assisted in SO many ways. The foyer, where we had the ceremony, was perfect for an event of less than 50 people. The beautiful staircase, the light from all of the windows, the quiet ambience of the place, all contributed to a memorable day for all of us. The Lodge also has plenty of room on the first floor for receptions, parties, etc., where your guests can wander around and mingle, without feeling cooped up. The beautiful wrap around porches also provide lots of mingling areas. The honeymoon suite, where my daughter and her husband stayed, was a very large room, tastefully decorated, with a large jacuzzi and a private balcony. My daughter said it was the most comfortable bed that she has ever slept in! I have seen most of the rooms, and you could not go wrong in any of them for an overnight or longer stay; they are all large, with full kitchens, and beautifully decorated. When I pulled in the driveway it was a swamp to the left that in the photos online was a beautiful waterfall.What I walked into, was a empty house, nobody to be found. I walked in the dining room there was food sitting out on the tables??? None of the tables matched. I went upstairs found my room # and the door was unlocked. The room did look nice until... I pulled the blankets back and found a sock in the bed, clearly the sheets had not been changed! I went downstairs to complain and still could not find anybody??? Anyway the fitness equipment was a 1920 stairmaster and some weights on the floor. The floors,walls, and doors was dirty and looked like they had never been cleaned, whole place needed to be cleaned and painted when I went outside to see if I could find somebody,I found stuff laying everywhere. It was shoes,clothes, chairs turned over.I walked up a cottage and it was bags of cement piled up outside a door that when I looked in the window it was unbelievable!!! It was a dirty room full of more stuff everywhere!!. I walked backed down and found a patio that was hardly standing, that needed some serious upkeep. This place was really ran down!!! I went back to my room and opened up doors to the balcony to a rotten wooded deck that didn't looked safe to step on, with dirty a rusted table and chairs nobody would sit on.As far as a salon and spa goes the sign on the door says closed!!!
