All teachers are or have been in the industry for years. The way they teach is very hands on. It's probably one of the very few schools that gives you this much Hands on experience. You learn at class and get to do it in real life the same week. It's very nice that while all the information fresh you get to experience it and really learn how it works. All lectures are connected in a way that help you become a good storyteller. We are learning a lot at New York Film Academy. I'm so happy that I decide to attend here for my BFA in film diploma. Have no regrets. It's so great to be surrounded by creative and passionate people.

I went to broadcast journalism for school and it's very on par with what you would get out of an elite school. The value that you get from here is you get to learn because they help you along the way with editing as well if that's what you choose to do but ultimately it's a great facility a great campus.

I now know that entire sector is rife with disorganization, bureaucracy, and nonsense rules. Re: Gregory W.'s main concern: I agree. Their requirements for maintaining certification are a bit much. They have serious administrative gaps, and it's not always easy to get accurate information. But it really is a great resource for people who live in Manhattan and would like access to the courses and equipment they offer. People are friendly and actually seem to care about what they are doing, which makes for a really lovely environment.

I was doubly fortunate to work very closely with Anna after I graduated on the set of a short film which she co-wrote and produced. We worked together on my character, a young catholic girl with an oppressive father who had just lost her best and only friend. It was an emotionally taxing role, and required me to stretch further than I had before, and I couldn't have done it without Anna's guidance. She taught me how to clearly and delicately craft a backstory for my character, given circumstances for each scene, and most importantly how to do emotional preparation by PERSONALIZING the material. I would then arrive on set and, with Anna's careful and gentle but specific instruction, learn how to let the work go and simply be in the moment take after take - "trust your body", she would say each time we reset, and it's a mantra that plays in my head along with many others that come to me in her fiery Italian voice when I am working on a part. I have had dozens of instructors over the 15 years I have been training as an actor, and Anna stands out as one who understands the fundamentals and nuances of the craft of acting incredibly thoroughly, and has a special gift of meeting her students wherever they are in their acting journey and imparting her layered knowledge with care and specificity. I have seen myself and other actors take leaps forward in their craft under her guidance, and not only gain a deeper understanding of acting, but of themselves and Life in all its depth and beauty that she is so attuned to. Because perhaps more importantly than being a damned good acting coach, Anna Cianculli is one of the most passionate, supportive and loving humans I know, who treasures and upholds her relationship with every student she encounters with mutual honor and respect.
