They provide a learning space for up and coming actors, singers, dancers and behind the scenes people. Both productions I have seen have been both pretty professional and very entertaining! The two things they need improvement in are, first and most important, their sound system is terrible! At times you can barely hear the actors and other times it seems so loud, you can't understand what is being said. Second is that they make people wait in the lobby until the last second before opening the doors to the seating. You have a lot of grandparents and older audience members. It is frustrating to have to stand around in a cramped lobby until show time.

Here's my take: They have stadium seating, which is good. But some rows aren't properly staggered. When a tall kid with a long neck sat in front of me, my view was obstructed. Luckily, I snagged a vacant seat down the aisle. Performers make good use of the floor and a small stage. If possible, sit towards the front, preferably in the middle. Several rows up there are seats to the side, with the stage visible at an angle. You'll likely get a crick in your neck after a two hour show. What you face with those side seats is one of two restrooms. They're both singles, so be sure to do your business before the show starts! If there's something going on at a neighboring business, parking could be tricky. My husband drove around before finding a spot in a different strip mall. We were there to see "Gypsy," an ambitious musical for local theater. Unfair to compare with the Tyne Daly production I saw on Broadway, they did a pretty good job, with one exception. The singing! Acting was fine, singing -- an important component of a musical -- was weak. The two performances I saw last week were both musicals; I commented that there's indeed talent in Ft Myers / Cape Coral. Having grown up with off-off B'way and makeshift theaters, I realize productions like this operate on shoestring budgets, reliant on donations and volunteers. With that said, Fort Myers Theater did a pretty good job, and patrons appeared pleased with the production.

I've seen performances in stuffy basement theaters with makeshift seating, as well as venues with bigger budgets and plush seats. Cultural Park is a lovely theater with professional sound & lighting, a large stage, and an extensive staff of volunteers. Truthfully, I had low expectations for no reason other than the tickets were inexpensive and the theater does little if any advertising. (I learned about them inadvertently driving through the neighborhood.) I was in for a surprise. Cultural Park's production of "Something Rotten" -- a Tony-nominated Broadway musical -- was stellar! There's talent in Cape Coral. My review is for the theater itself, not the production, though I see they have the capabilities to present great shows. The sets, the seating, the stage and performers .... no complaints! Ample free parking, too. There's a concession stand -- a source of revenue for them -- with moderately priced wine and snacks. While they're on hiatus, Cultural Park offers two week summer camp programs for kids interested in singing, dancing and acting. A great community resource!

So this is our 2nd attempt at finding a good dance school for our 3 year old, and it was a huge…read moresuccess! We enrolled our daughter in summer classes (for the month of July), just in case things didn't work out like the last one. Assuming the rest of the classes go as smoothly as this, then we may be life-ers! The tricky part was finding the entrance...I drove northbound on Del Prado, and made a left on Viscaya, pulling into the Jimmy John's parking lot (since it's in the same building). I found out, there IS an entrance back there (the one that says "welcome" on the door, but isn't that clearly marked. We drove out of that parking lot, and into the medical lot next door, and parked there, just walking across the 5'of grass to the main entrance, which is off of SE 8th. Alright! Now that we found the main entrance, we walk in and are greeted just as we are opening the door! Andrew and Carla(?) Ask how were doing, have we been there, what's her name, is she excited, etc. He gave me a quick briefing of the place and told me where my daughters class would be. There seemed to be just as many new faces as veterans. It was a comfortable setting. There is basically a big L shaped hallway, with 4 rooms for the classes. They have two large TVs so that parents can watch the class from the hallway. It was nice to still be able to watch her first class, and see that she's comfortable with a bit of independence. She had one instructor, Miss Amy, and two assistants. The half hour class flew by quickly, and when they walked out of the room, my daughters face was just beaming with glee. She talked about her class and her "teacher" the whole drive home, and told her dad and brother all about it when we got home :). So, thank you, Maranatha, for a welcoming feeling and a comfortable atmosphere. It has to be because it is a faith-based organization :).

Karen, the owner wants all the girls to look the same ( for recital pictures) so she sells all of the uniforms at her establishment. Her prices aren't the cheapest, but you're supporting a local business! The only issue I have with this establishment is the actual administrative work. Which could use a lot of work given the fact that the one running it is Karen the owner. However, this doesn't knock this place all the way down. They are very professional with the kids and the recital. My daughter loves it here.
