I'm not really sure what's going on with this company, but after reading the reviews I can understand why the ratings aren't great. I was assigned to this company through American Home Shield and never received a call from the company to schedule an appointment. I contacted the company, left a message to attempt to schedule an appointment and did not receive a call back. I contacted American Home Shield and was told it should not take a week for them to contact me to at least schedule an appointment. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I had a situation where Centerpoint pulled my meter and required a plumber to correct the issue. The plumber came out and told me I did not have a leak and would be back the next day to complete the job. I received a call and was told to find another plumber to finish the work. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I am a home owner and I called American Home shield to have my water heater replaced. Action plumbing inflated the fees. They would not show their plumbing credentials and denied my claim because I questioned the rates. He was very unprofessional on the phone. I called the manager and he never called me back. Please don't use this company. It's horrible. It is the worst service that I have recieved since I been with American Home Shield. The below review was written in 2015. I experienced the exact same situation. I spoke with the same manager -Quentin. I got the same responses. Read below. . . . . Unethical company and will inflate the fees. Wish I could give a score of zero. So, this place contracts with AHS and will falsely write-up the work scope to get extra money by writing "modifications" next the installation line items. Installation costs are simple: hook the heater to water, connect to gas or electric, place the vent on, connect the expansion tank, and connect the T&P valve. Quentin, the manager, wanted to bill for an extra $300 to make up for the differences AHS will not pay him. These items are: - $185 to connect the Water Heater to flex piping. (He also stated the Expansion tank was connected "backwards." This was a lie, there is no check valve, it is properly installed on the line, and would require no "modifications.") - $35 for a fake vent modification. - $85 to connect the existing piping to the T&P. Grand total of $300 extra. The main reason I was being charged this, Quentin explained, was because AHS does not pay them to do everything and thats why I had to pay the extra charges. Through an AHS warranty call, Action Plumbing was assigned to fix my broken disposal. Steven was at my house less than 24 hours after my call to AHS. He was friendly, professional, and got the job done quickly. I was very impressed and would call again! read more

Should have been a zero since they never came out. I used American Home Shield who contracted with them for a water line repair. I was told by a refrigerator repair guy that the water feed line was plugged and would need to be blown out. He claimed that it shouldn't take too long. AHS rescheduled with Action Plumbing for them to contact me for an appointment. They set an appointment for a Friday afternoon and never showed. To top it off they would not return calls. They obviously have so much work they don't need anymore. Very disappointed! I understand that working thru a third party is not the best, but they should not have contracted with them if they didn't want to do the work. read more

Sent by American Home Shield (AHS) to repair garbage disposal. 1) Called to say he was 1 hour away without ever setting initial appointment. When told that was unacceptable because spouse and I were at work, guy became agitated. 2) Assured me he would show next day after I rearranged schedule.......NEVER showed. 3) Reported company to AHS, they called them and they sent someone who came and "cleared the disposal" charged us $75 and NEVER looked underneath the sink to fix the leak. 4) Called them immediately and have been leaving messages daily.....no reply. This company should not even be on the roster of AHS taking people's hard earned money for shoddy work. read more

Twice I have had to our American home shield for plumbing. They called out Action both times. First time in June 2018 they never got with me or AHS to setup appointment and ended up two weeks without running water until AHS contacted another plumber. This time once again because they are the only ones in this area for AHS they were called again. They did come out pretty quickly to access the problem. After that it went to hell in a hand basket. Took them 2 days to even turn it into AHS after I stayed on the phone. AHS approved same day Action didn't call or do anything until I called them 2 days later. They knew coming out that it was going to be a tight fit to replace the hot water heater. When he came out with new heater he wouldn't even take it out of the box to try and get it in. Left immediately after telling me it wouldn't fit. AHS called and emailed with no return answers. Finally got Quetin on the phone and he says "my guy is still on the property" umm.... he had been gone for 2 hours at this point. After that neither him nor his worker were able to be reached. AHS later told me that he denied it stating that the closet was not accessible and needed a 24" opening and that the home owner was made aware. I was NEVER told this. Thank God the lady on the phone said that she could tell by my reaction that I didn't know. FINALLY, got another plumber to come out for 2nd opinion. He measured, looked at everything, called around and then told me it could be done. Thankfully after 2 weeks without hot water we are gong to get it back. Also, Action was charging me $200 on top of what AHS was paying them, Stating it was "modifications". $115 for hoses (that are already brand new) and $85 for T&P valve. The next plumber is doing $100 stating it shouldn't cost that much the T&P is only like $15. I am glad to see the other reviews and know that I am not the only one that has had these issues. Maybe it's just the people with AHS, but if you don't want to mess with AHS, then don't renew your contract with them and stop doing work for them. STOP screwing over the customers. read more

American home shield should cut ties with this company! After the initial visit to my house they told me a new water heater would need to be ordered. Weeks passed and I was told every time I called that they were having trouble finding the specific one I needed. A another week or so passed and I was told that they were waiting for it to come in. Another week passed and they finally told me that they just couldn't get one. So after stringing me along for over a month..the tech tells me that I need to call AHS and do the cash out and once I had the water heater he would come back out and install it for free. (I, at the time thought it was just a nice gesture from the company since they dragged this repair out for over a month and lied about ordering the water heater in the first place) So I ordered the water heater and called Action to come install it once it came in. The (same) tech told me that it would be the next day before he could come out and to "call him in the morning". Those are this company's famous last words. I called the next morning and he told me he had the days confused that it would be the next day to again, call him in the morning. That was almost a week ago and he has yet to return my call. I had my husband call, just minutes after I had, from his phone and what do you know, he answered. His response, "call me in the morning." At my wits end I called AHS to let them know the issues I had been having with action and the representative put me on hold to try and contact them. Once she got back on the line she told me that the tech said he cannot do it today but that he would come another day and he wanted me to let you know that YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY HIM . My jaw dropped. I never mentioned FREE one time in the whole two plus months this mess went on! HE DID!! ABSOLUTE WORST company I have ever dealt with. In the future, I will not accept this company as a contractor through AHS. I would rather pay an honest company 10 times over than give these people one cent. read more

That company is dishonest and unprofessional. I had a problem with a leaking pipe and had a policy with American Homeshield (AHS), a home warranty company, so I put in a work order. They have a contract with Action Plumbing, so they sent them over to have a look. Action plumbing took 2 days to come out and have a look. They are very unresponsive to voicemails and they only came out only because I kept calling their phone line at least 5 times in 2 days. When Action plumbing finally came over, they made a report that the pipe was misused and/or hit, and the job was going to require removing the kitchen cabinet to get to the pipe, which I knew was not true considering that the leak was coming from outside. By the way, I left Action Plumbing another voicemail asking them to call me back and explain how they found that the pipe was hit or misused. They never called back. That pipe was never misused or hit. I got charged the $75 service fee with the warranty company. Being denied coverage angered me, so I cancelled my policy with AHS and they should refund my prorated amount. After cancelling my policy, I had Connor Plumbing come out to fix the problem out of my own pocket. They were honest with me and said that the leak was caused by simple wear and tear from the piping being place against the brick wall, which completely contradicts Action Plumbing's report. Call me a crazy conspiracy theorist, but I would even be willing to bet money that Action Plumbing is paid off by AHS to give out a biased report in their favor where they can deny coverage. Other than Action Plumbing having a contract with AHS, I do not understand how companies like that manage to stay in business. To reiterate, DON'T EVER call them if you have plumbing issues. Action Plumbing is by far the least professional company I've ever dealt with and I would NOT recommend them. My hot water heater sprang a leak on Sunday and I was referred to Action by American Home Shield (AHS). They did send someone out within the 24 hours required. I was told they would file a claim with AHS and would be back out on Friday to install a new one (I was away Tuesday-Thursday). No one from Action called me to let me know when they would arrive; I left 2 messages that were never returned on Thursday afternoon. On the third call, I was yelled at because it was taking AHS so long to respond to Action's call. It turned out Action never sent in the paperwork on Monday and finally started trying on Thursday. On Friday afternoon I was told the claim had been approved and someone would be out later in the day; no time given. When no one arrived by 4 p.m., I called again and was told the water heater supply company was closed early for July 4th (this was the 3rd) and it would be Monday before I would have a new heater. I was told someone would be at my house between 10-12 on Monday. At 2 p.m. on Monday I called Action to see why no one had shown up; was told the claim was just approved (which is what I was told on Friday) and they would be out on Tuesday. By now it had been over a week with no hot water! My water heater was installed late in the afternoon on Tuesday. The person who installed the new heater told me the person who took the measurements last Monday did so incorrectly and didn't know what he was doing. This necessitated them having to go get extra supplies and taking much longer (which I'm sure I was charge for on my bill). When it was done, and they were showing me how to adjust the temperature, I noticed that the brand new water heater had a big dent in it! I was told that 8 out of 10 water heaters from their supplier came that way and there was nothing they could do about it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

Action Plumbing sent Quentin to my house to do some repairs on my pipes that had started leaking in my wall, which he was sent out by American Home Shield...worst decision ever made by AHS to contract with them. Quentin wrote me up an estimate to where he tried to charge me 2 times as much as the plumber who actually did the repairs on my house..and because I didn't use him as my plumber he called AHS and fabricated a report, just so that my claim can be denied...I guess he was saying if he wasn't going to get paid neither was I. But God don't sleep! I wouldn't recommend him to fix water for my dogs and that's how I'm feeling right about now!!!!!!! He is a scammer and not to be trusted!!!!!!....I don't even know how AHS even use them(Action Plumbing) to contract with...I'm starting to question should I even use them any longer (AHS) for my home owner insurance! Just sad that people can be so greedy behind money like that...very sad! read more

American Home Shield sent Action Plumbing out for a clogged system. He snaked the cleanout in the backyard but said he couldn't snake the vents on the roof because AHS doesn't allow them to do that. He then left and it took a week of phone calls to be told he was going to charge us $1250.00 to install another cleanout because it wasn't covered by our warranty. We instead called another plumber who snaked the backyard and then the cleanout that was already in the front yard and fixed us right us! Action plumbing just shows up for their service fee and you never hear from them again except that he wants an exorbitant amount of money for work that does not need to be done. We did not need another cleanout because there was already one there that he never snaked! And it sits in plain site about a foot high on the property line. DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBER!!
