They tend to show up late and do only some of what they are supposed to do (we have caught them not doing various checks and services several times). After one such service, my husband went in the attic to check what they had done and found that the reservoir tray under the unit was completely full of water... Something a good technician would have seen and addressed while there. To make matters worse, the techs get an attitude if you mention anything. Such a shame. It made me think of the situation where parents have been running a company for decades then have to retire and leave the biz to the kids who kind of... don't run it quite so well.

Had a garbage disposal go bad, and it was an older one that the company is out of business…read more Purchased a new heavy duty quieter Insinkerator model, and called Marathon Plumbing to do the install. The appt was set for between 10 am and noon. They ran behind and didn't show until around 1 pm. The biggest issue though was that their estimate to swap out the disposal. The new one was already here waiting, and their estimate was $402 just to do the swap. Absolutely ridiculous. I laughed and sent them on their way, and then called another company that was here in less than 10 minutes. They did the job for $125. Won't be calling Marathon again! ***Adding detail due to the owner's comments: Yes, we were texted that "Your plumber will be arriving at the latter part of the appointment time." That would be near the noon. At 12:05 I texted and asked if there was another eta, as the time had passed. At 12:17 the response was that they had to drop off another piece of equipment and would be here in 20-30 minutes. It was longer, however that wasn't the issue, delays happen. The price was the ridiculous part. The 1-star review was for the price gouging. People need to know how ridiculous it is. - As soon as I laughed the Marathon techs out of the house I called SE Texas Plumbing and they had someone available immediately. Bradley was here in less than 10 minutes and the install/swap took another 10. Simple and fast. Adding a photo below of the new disposal already installed since it somehow seems "not feasible" to the owner of Marathon Plumbing that it is already installed and for a reasonable price.

After an disappointing service call with another company from Beaumont, I decided to try a smaller…read morecompany that had been around a long time. On BBB site it said Dodd's had been around since 1985 so I chose them. The tech came out and found the problem the first tech missed. (First tech just suggested I get my evaporator pulled and cleaned for a very high price.) It was a bad relay causing my heating element to come on when the AC was on. Topped off my Freon level and explained that, while my evaporator coils were dirty, they also leaked, so it wasn't worth cleaning a 10 year old unit. My AC works like normal again, but before he left I got a quote for an entirely new inside system. Fair price, I'm going to call them again soon to have it done. Highly recommend giving Dodd's a chance, see if you end up as pleased as I did with the service.
