Rented jetskis and not told they needed to be returned 15 minutes before our time was up. Charged 75$ extra per ski. Then rented pontoon boat, brought it in 15 minutes before rental time was up, and told we had to pay for gas to fill it back up. This customer will not be using them again. A fun day on the lake. Easy to pick up the boat and easy to return. We rented a pontoon for the day. The tube was a blast and even the timid 8 year old loved being pulled. The lake was pretty choppy that day and we might have benefited from some advice on where on the lake we might find smoother water. Also, we sent 2 people to pick up the boat and then found that every one had to sign waivers and kids had to be fitted for life jackets. That delayed our start about an hour. Wish someone would have told us ahead of time. The adult life jackets were in the bench seat and were wedged in such a way that they were nearly impossible to pull them out. Glad we thought to get them out ahead of any need. read more

UPDATE TO MY REVIEW: they did refund me the $50 dollars after the owners read my below review. So that was nice. Appreciative of that and changed my review to 4 stars. Sad it had to take a Yelp review in order to beget a little kindness, but it shows good will that they value the customer and took care of me. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Be very careful when you book, unfortunately these people are relentless about the finer small print and make no exceptions for mistakes. I found them via google search under "Coeur D'Alene pontoon rental" and booked my $400 half day pontoon. The moment I got my confirmation email it said the location is in Sandpoint, NOT Coeur D'Alene. I called 90 seconds after the booking to let them know I made a mistake and they said they had to charge me $50 for my mistake. I asked for a little mercy and found none. So I'm writing this review to hopefully make that $50 an investment into preventing anyone else from the same mistake. read more

Nothing went smoothly with regard to our rental. We reserved 2 jet skis and were told 5 minutes before our reservation that only 1 was available. It was an older model and unstable. The 2 riders who are slight females were given men's XL life jackets which did not fit and there was no way to exchange. I still have not received a refund for the second jet ski I paid for when making the reservation. This is the second time we have had issues with Action Water Sports (the first time they forgot to fill the tank and we almost ran out of gas mid-trip) and we would not rent from them again read more

Thanks much to John H as I'm in town with the family this whole week and we're looking for things to do. We come to Sandpoint every year around this time and rented from Action Water Sports last year and had a very similar experience. We too ran out of gas (rented 4 hrs, full tank only lasts 2-3 hrs) and when we got back were challenged with incremental fees; it made for a very poor experience all-around. Thank you for reminding me which company it was. There are plenty of places in the area from which to rent watercraft and I certainly wouldn't ever recommend Action. read more

CAUTION: Very unprofessional small business. I was taken back by the extremely negative attitudes of both staff members, almost as if they resent customers. They seem to find the nature of their work to be irritable and it shows in their poor customer service. They said they would adjust our reservation to accommodate our travel time then without authorization tried to charge us for this time. So we went to the marina at the resort instead and they were 1000 times more pleasant, positive and the cost was much cheaper. I personally would rather support the small business but in this case the staff was far too negative and anti-service minded. I would never do business with them again. Then they tried to over charge us for a boat we didn't rent and an additional "admin" fee. Be aware. read more

DO NOT RENT HERE! Your quoted price will be increased by 50-100% as the owner uses a fee based business model. It is the textbook definition of bait and switch. I really wish we would've read the reviews beforehand as there are plenty of warning signs. Be warned, if you bring your watercraft within 15-20ft of shore, you will be charged another 50-100% of your rental. The owner calls this "beaching". I've never once heard of this happening in all my experiences. This is not for damage that you actually did, but damage you could've done. Of course, this simply increases revenues without the associated expenses. The owner seems to follow you around the lake to charge fees for things that may have happened, but clearly did not. Whatever he seems a violation of his fee chart. You will be surprised at check in when he hands you the fine print. It's a genius business model, but something you wouldn't expect to originate in the U.S. Rent for 4hrs...expect 2hrs of gas. You'll then have to spend up to an hour of your rental time refilling gas depending on where you are on the lake. I've rented hundreds of jet skis in my life, all across the country. YOU ARE MUCH BETTER OFF RENTING FROM SANDPOINT WATERSPORTS OR A DAY ON THE LAKE! I've rented from both. The customer service is off the charts. I'd be shocked if Action is still in business next year. read more

My family and I went out for skiing lessons, tubing and also rented a boat from this company. All the staff where very nice. The instructor was amazing! He gave a good lesson, was very knowledgable and was great with my daughter who was kind of scared. The boats where clean, it was easy to book and they provided nice life jackets for us all. They are off the main road through a path and some stairs down to the water but there is a sign on the road and sidewalk. read more

Horrible experience - No refund policy is absurd! We booked a pontoon boat rental online 24 hours in advance and the full day fee was charged to the credit card. Upon arrival found that dogs are not allowed. Owner refused to refund ANY portion of the fee instructing us to read their policies which are buried at the bottom of the website and several pages deep and not easily accessible on smartphone. Policy does state that reservations are NON-REFUNDABLE unless canceled more than 72 hours in advance. Policy is silent on reservations made in less than 72 hours. At the very least owner should have refunded 50% if not more!!! Owner should return to snowboarding and not running a small business where excellent customer service is required. Do what we did and go to "A Day On The Lake" in Sagle who welcomed us and our dogs with enthusiasm, professionalism, excellent service and a great day on the lake! read more

We made a mistake with location and tried to cancel 10 minutes after booking, to get a 50% refund. Really?! Almost 200 bucks down the drain. Being out of town'ers we were confused by the address. I'm sure a lot of people were looking for a moderate to adequate review for this service provider. Not True. I would like to share our experience with you and let you make up your own mind. My husband wrote this review and asked me to post it. My daughter and him went in to meet with the owner. This is the account of what happened. We rented a ski boat for 8 hours from the Hope marina. From the time of show up to pick up the boat until the time to return it was nothing short of disastrous. Not one big thing, just a whole lot of little ones through out the 8 hours. The check in staff was helpful, not knowledgeable, the radio did not work and fell apart first. Then the drivers chair came off the mounting bracket and had to be put back on. Then the heater vent fell out of it's mount and had to be put back into place. The entire day boating, even at cruising speed and the gas gauge did not come off of Full. The throttle had to be held, by hand, to keep the craft above 20 M.P.H. We went to a Sand Point fuel dock and the boat took 21 plus gallons to fill and only after 4 hours or less of cruising, no tubing, no skiing, just cruising. The remaining 4 hours were spent in relative comfort. The grand kids had a wonderful time enjoying the water sports. I asked for a meeting with one of the owner/mangers for A.W.S. and met with him on Wednesday. The gentleman came into the meeting with the intention that all of our concerns were made up and basically put the entire matter as our fault. I could take twice the room that I have already written to list my qualifications and experiences with my own boat, which I owned and maintained for over 20 years. Or of the 2 other rentals from A.W.S. this season, with no problems. But that is not the purpose of this review. The purpose of this is to let the public know that this can be expected to happen to you. So, in closing, Renter Beware. read more

This business is set in a beautiful little hill side in Sandpoint right on Sand Creek. I went with a friend 06/14/15 and we rented Paddle Boards! It was my first time and not only were the staff and owner informative and nice but the equipment was in top shape and the place was very clean! Never again. I came to Sandpoint recently, visiting family. We decided to rent a boat and spend the day on the lake. From the minute we arrived at Action in Hope, the day seemed to fall apart. Everything went wrong, and nothing worked correctly. I was told to be there at 9:30am, however, staff didn't show to open till 9:45am, which put us late getting on the water and she could only say to me, "no one ever shows up on time for their rental so I thought it'd be okay to be late today." Staff, during our walk through, couldn't even tell us what type of motor the boat had. The gas gauge was stuck on full (thank goodness we didn't run out of fuel not knowing this at first), the trim on the boat did not work (come to find out the fluid was very low), drivers seat was not attached, I could go on and on. We had three children with us that day, and tried to make the best of a terrible experience for them. When we requested a meeting with the owner, we were treated very rudely and our concerns were basically taken as if we were making it up. I have never been treated so poorly in customer service as I was with this company, throughout our entire experience. I will never rent from here again, and will continue to warn friends and family of my experience. Overall, I was not impressed with the staff, equipment or owner of this company and would recommend going elsewhere. Definitely a "Renter Beware" situation. read more
