A month after badly injuring my elbow, I still had severe pain, weakness and loss of motion. Ice and rest had not addressed what was originally diagnosed as tendonitis. We are very satisfied customers with AC. My daughter had gone to 4 doctors to try to figure out what was wrong with her hip flexer & nobody could figure it out. Sena figured it out on our first visit & gave her exercises to do at home that she could actually remember & do. Within 6 weeks she wasn't feeling pain anymore & she is back to LAX. She is super terrific. The only down side is they don't really take health insurance so it gets pretty expensive. Also, you can't use the equipment in-between visits if needed for your therapy. Kate at the desk is so nice & helpful. And I LOVE that they have hours outside of the "9-5/closed for lunch" so you can actually work & go see them:) Overall, very pleasant & effective experience. Cindy is the best physical therapist on the planet. With her guidance expertise, I am a stronger, happier, fitter woman than I had ever dreamt possible. It all started several years ago with a skiing accident that resulted in a Level III ACL tear in my left knee. Just days after the accident, I was scared, in a giant brace, and barely able to move about on crutches. My doctor sent me to physical therapy to strengthen the knee for surgery, and I ended up completely rehabilitating myself without going under the knife. Cindy's combination of hands-on therapy, stretching, resistance, and Pilate's style exercises helped me rejuvenate and coordinate muscles that I didn't even know that I had. In addition, she really listened to me, and I trusted her to tell me when it was time to move up to more physically demanding (and uncomfortable) exercises. My first experience with Cindy was a very empowering and physically challenging process. The affects of the original knee injury stressed existing deficiencies in my lower back and shoulders that I had been living with for almost two decades. With Cindy's patient assistance, I was able to strengthen my lower back and correct postural problems in my shoulders that had kept me in pain and Ibuprofen for years. Now, at 43, I am having more fun than at any time in my life. My new-found athleticism does has its downside, as I recently recovered from breaking my collarbone while mountain biking. I went back to Cindy for help in eliminating adhesion with Active Release Therapy and rebuilding my shoulder muscles with simple exercises. The bottom line is that you have to do the work outside the office to get the benefits of physical therapy inside. But if you want a hands-on physical therapist (not just one with a clipboard) who listens and really knows what she is doing, I highly recommend Cindy. read more

I've been to different PT clinics, but this is the BEST. From reception to the therapists especially Megan, I felt always welcome, listened to, and taken cared of every time. The therapists really know their stuff and will explain to you in detail (in words you can understand), the whats, whys and hows of your condition. They're also very honest and trustworthy; they do not stretch your visits if they feel you are already well and/or can follow-up less frequently. My bad case of plantar fasciitis has totally healed, and so has my arm pain. Because of this I am able to increase the duration, frequency and intensity of different exercises. I can now run up to 4 miles without stopping, and also be on the bike and do gradual uphill climbs. I feel much stronger, healthier and happier. read more

Have had the opportunity to work with PT, Whitney to recover from a herniated disc that had displaced my root nerve. I'm not sure where I'd be without Active Marin. After injuring my back, I set about a long, slow recovery with (at least) weekly treatments. While I mostly saw Cindy during my months of treatment, the entire clinic is invested in the clients' recovery. The place has a family feel to it. Physical Therapy is not the kind of appointment people typically look forward to...but I did. Week after week, month after month, Cindy and her staff worked with me, listened to me, made adjustments, and yes, practiced a little tough love. I jokingly told my friends that Cindy was a magician, as she worked on my body and made the pain disappear. Even as I've progressed to the point where I no longer need to go into the clinic, Cindy and staff still check in on me. That's not only rare...it's pretty much unheard of. Nothing but a positive experience all around. And this is coming from someone in the first few weeks of recovery from an ACL surgery. Not in the best of mood at times. From attempting to schedule my appointments and keeping track of them to learning the best way to gain a full recovery. The Receptionist was very patient with me. I was having trouble juggling the best time/day since I need help getting to/ from appointments. Prior to surgery I saw Seena to get ready for the surgery. Her positive energy and understanding of my feelings towards this injury in addition to teaching me the best exercises to prepare me for surgery were a great help. I am now a little over 2 weeks into my recovery and have visited Megan 2 times. I am amazed at how the little exercises I have been given for this point in my recovery have made me feel stronger and given me confidence that I will progress. As down as I get at times, it is nice to have someone teaching me what I should and shouldn't be doing. All my concerns have been listened to and answered at my visits. Best thing: after I have the list of exercises to do we don't spend my follow up sessions just doing the exercises that I can do at home. She answered and listened to all of my questions and made sure I was doing the exercises correctly. If I was doing them correctly I didn't take the time to complete all 3 sets. Instead she addressed any of my concerns and massaged the injured area. The atmosphere is light and cheerful. I worked with Dylan due to a torn meniscus. With Dylan's help, I went from being in pain constantly, to moderate/occasional pain, to being pain free. Dylan uses a good mix of therapeutic massage and exercise during his session and, most importantly for me, spent a lot of time being sure I understood how to do the work on my own and educating me about my knee and related muscles. Dylan worked with me after I broke my arm and injured my shoulder including the surrounding muscles and tendons. Dylan put me at ease as I was in a lot of pain and not anxious to move my arm much or have anyone touch it. TOOK MY KIDS THERE My 16 year old son had extensive hip surgery for FAI in September and needed physical therapy afterwards. He is a highly competitive athlete and we were very nervous that he would never play the same again. We went to Active Marin and I am so grateful that we did. My son worked with Cindy, Dylan and Lisa for 6 months and they were incredible. They were knowledgeable, professional, kind and compassionate. Jack's surgeon, Dr. Mark Safran at Stanford was very impressed with my son's progress. The physical therapy was a crucial part of the healing process and because of these physical therapists he is 100% today and feels great. I have also taken my 11 year old daughter there because of a fall that caused her a great deal of pain in her tailbone. One session with Cindy and I haven't heard a complaint since!
