I really learned a lot! Sometimes after being out of 'school' for awhile an 8 hour class can seem a little intimidating but it was well worth every minute of it! Friendly service and location was huge. Some area were three stories. Wide selection of almost everything you can think of from fishing, hunting, camping and much much more. There are some small restaurants and cafes inside in case you wanted to grab bite to eat. They have a fudge bar area and coffee shop (Black Rifle). They have an aquarium inside BPS, but by the time we arrived they were closed. Tickets were $46 per person. If you are in the area, I would stop by and check out the place. Glad I was about to check out the first BPS.

Steve is also very detail oriented, having a background in education and as a crossfit trainer, he really knows how to teach the finer points of jiu jitsu to make sure your technique actually works on larger or stronger opponents. Lastly, something I really appreciate about starting out at Kokoro was the fact that we had a super clear curriculum, which meant everybody knew what they needed to learn and be able to perform to get their next belt. A lot of gyms operate on a "bro code", when the coach thinks your ready type of promotion system, or just promote based on competitive ability... my wife and I both appreciate the clarity.

There's no pressure to do anything I'm not comfortable with, the classes are fun, and everyone is friendly. Because the classes follow a fundamentals-based curriculum (and because Steve is a great teacher), the concepts are all accessible to beginners regardless prior experience or physical fitness level. Within just a couple of weeks after starting regular classes I started noticing myself progressing and became addicted! And it's far more fun than most types of exercise because your brain is engaged while you're sweating!
