Here's my story with The Vintage. It'll be a year in August since we moved Grandpa in. In this past year, our rent hasn't increased. Although he will be reassessed in August so not sure how that will go. Even if the price does go up, I can say that in our case (our loved one requires a lot of care) it's fair and entirely worth it. The first couple of months were difficult for our Grandpa. He wouldn't even leave his apartment for meals. Vintage was happy to deliver meals to his apartment (for a fee) but always encouraged him to get out of his apartment for fresh air and meals. Eventually, we were successful and he now enjoys three meals a day in the beautiful dining room. We often visit for the Sunday brunch for a reasonable price. My point is this, did we pay for the added service? Of course. What we weren't charged for was the encouragement and warmth of the staff. Furthermore, Grandpa now enjoys weekly entertainment at the Friday Happy Hour, he goes on walks with the walking club, joins in on outings during the week, and most importantly he's no longer isolated. I used to call to check in on him daily. If I didn't call, id receive multiple calls from him asking when id be visiting. Now it seems he's so preoccupied I can get by a day or two without calling or popping in. I can say in my case, we are BLESSED to have discovered Vintage Newport. I feel it is just the place for Grandpa to live out the remainder of his days.

Koodos to Vivante!…read more Just days before my mother was admitted to Vivante, she experienced the heartbreaking loss of the love of her life. As a former Skilled Nursing Director, I knew it would be hard to find not just a care facility but a true community for her. She was my main concern. From the moment we arrived, we found exactly that! Danika, the Director, leads with compassion and strength. Olivia, the coordinator, brings a level of organization that made the transition feal seamless. Julie the secretary, greeted us with warmth every day. Making The Shores feel like home. Kaytlin, the activities director is slowly bringiing my non social mother back into life with her creativity and genuine joy. The employees ooze happiness with their jobs. The service is exceptional and its truly is a 5 star resort for the elderly. The menus are beyond brilliant and the food quality is a chefs kiss! The entertainment is beyond amazing, with numerous grand events to entertain family and the residents. Vivante isn't just an Assisted Living or Memory care facility. It is a touch of elegance that I am putting my name on the waiting list soon! I couldn't be happier with the care my mother is receiving. The employees go above and beyond to make each resident feel loved! I couldn't be more gratful that Vivante has walked alongside our family in such a vulnerable time! While what clearly was a life changing decision originally, moving into Vivante has proven time and again to be the best for both. Sadly, we lost our mom last month after an incredible fight she had been putting up for the past few years. Her last ten days truly showed us the incredible "loving care" by so many of Danica Coronel's TEAM. Now, over the years I have visited the facilities hundreds of times. I have gotten to know many of the caregivers, nurses, medtechs, servers, etc., and I have always felt good when leaving that my parents were in great hands. It is always clean and in good condition. We have enjoyed many great meals, met many residents & their families, and created some good memories (under the circumstances). Those "last ten days or so before her passing," REALLY opened my, and many of my family's eyes to the true depth of passion & caring of SO many of the Vivante staff (On the apartment side & especially in The Shores facility). From the smiling greetings by Jojo & Julie, the always positive Vince, Danica & Olivia, the incredibly joyful Alyssa (and mom Debbie), Krista, Ashlee, Elizabeth, Zoila, Jesus, Angela, Pilar, Irizella, Sara, lovely Aricelli who would make mom a nice cup of hot chocolate with a smile & warm words, to the cooks & servers, there are many more to mention. These past years have also opened my eyes to how difficult a job it is, especially to care for those with various stages/levels of dementia. After my brother wasted $400,000 at Atria Newport Plaza over 5 years, my mom died because they did…read morenot provide a basic flu shot and she died from flu infection. From the start, I was concerned since Atria was cited as a Covid facility in 2020 and had terrible health protocols. During her years there, they skipped her delivery meals; did not connect her cable; denied her participation in the summer barbecue (she was SO excited and arrived early at the outdoor area. Staff sent her away and did not give her bbq. She was disappointed because they did not provide turkey dinners at Thanksgiving but bbq was close); absconded with the gifts I sent her.  Neiman Marcus black cashmere dress: a) not received by front desk 10 minutes after courier delivery confirmation b) front desk "received" after I checked delivery photo that showed residential apartment door A and I asked why c) Mom says "there's an open box here from Texas but it's empty" d) Atria placed cashmere dress on her table when brother visited e) missing in her final effects Also stole $1,000 monthly Januvia sent directly to their facility, did not give her medication (per insurance, Atria immediately discontinued prescription with pharmaceutical company the day after she died); turned the ringer on her mobile phone to vibrate so I could not reach her; and moved her to higher cost Memory Care which she did not need. She ultimately was found unconscious on the floor at 3 am because with physical "room checks" in Memory Care, she no longer wore a fall detection pendant in regular care. This was her second ER visit during Christmas week but Atria did not attend to her after the first infection ER visit a few days earlier (inadequate antibiotics provided by Hoag). Absolutely heartbroken because I did not imagine their stupidity would kill her but I never expected people to be so unethical, greedy and cruel -- Director Johanna Gonzalez, Front Desk Supervisor Karla and your staff Susan and Diane. However, Victor Bonilla, my mom truly appreciated the bananas you gave her.

Before we transitioned to Newport Senior Living, we had inconsistent care, unreliable caregivers, and unacceptable communication and coordination. And the cost was out of control. Upon transitioning to Newport Senior Living, all these concerns were resolved. The facility is unbelievable clean, with a separate bedroom and bathroom for each resident. The "family room" is warm, organized and inviting. The staff is caring and professional. They provide individual attention to each resident. The term resident isn't actually correct, as the residents and staff became like family members. The food is excellent. They provide consistent care and have a back-up plan in case a staff member can't work. The grounds are beautiful and allow for activities, like gardening. Each week, chair exercise sessions are held. They plan special birthday parties and activities throughout the week and holidays. From a professional perspective, all-important qualities include professionalism, reliability, integrity, communication skills and being a team player. The Newport Senior Living staff provides this. From a personal perspective, when selecting a home or facility for a family member, the qualities listed above are important, but just as significant are interpersonal skills. Newport Senior Living has consistently demonstrated compassion, patience, loving care, respect, tact, and courtesy; the list goes on. We highly recommend Newport Senior Living.

The administrator, Penny, and her assistant, Vicki have exceptional people skills and work hard to make sure each resident is happy and well taken care of. Although Costa Neuporte is an unassisted senior living community they provide many of the same services of assisted living communities at a much more affordable price. They serve excellent meals in the main dining room, provide weekly housekeeping and linen service, have van service for doctor appointments and field trips, and have many entertainment events to keep their residents busy. The apartments are large with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and lots of cabinet and closet space. In addition to all this you get free cable TV and wifi connection. In spite of the fact that they do not provide medical personnel there are qualified independent care providers that you can hire to work with your loved one. My mother had a wonderful caregiver, Sonia, who worked hard to meet her needs in a personal and loving way and has become like another member of our family. We are grateful to her and the personnel at Costa Neuporte for providing a caring, family-like environment for our mother and all the other residents.
