Now, eight months into dad's residency at Forever Young our gratitude for William and his caregiving team has only deepened. The food has been awesome. My mom loves all the options and she said the food is solid. It's only about 83 rooms so you have a lot of privacy and a lot of open spaces. My mom's room she lives in is very spacious and has its own balcony and slider and heater and air conditioner . Every single person that works there is extremely friendly and goes out of their way to accommodate from the guy that just comes in and checks on Mom to make sure she's getting up to go have her meals to the nursing staff and even the incredibly nice maintenance guy. Here's my story with The Vintage. It'll be a year in August since we moved Grandpa in. In this past year, our rent hasn't increased. Although he will be reassessed in August so not sure how that will go. Even if the price does go up, I can say that in our case (our loved one requires a lot of care) it's fair and entirely worth it. The first couple of months were difficult for our Grandpa. He wouldn't even leave his apartment for meals. Vintage was happy to deliver meals to his apartment (for a fee) but always encouraged him to get out of his apartment for fresh air and meals. Eventually, we were successful and he now enjoys three meals a day in the beautiful dining room. We often visit for the Sunday brunch for a reasonable price. My point is this, did we pay for the added service? Of course. What we weren't charged for was the encouragement and warmth of the staff. Furthermore, Grandpa now enjoys weekly entertainment at the Friday Happy Hour, he goes on walks with the walking club, joins in on outings during the week, and most importantly he's no longer isolated. I used to call to check in on him daily. If I didn't call, id receive multiple calls from him asking when id be visiting. Now it seems he's so preoccupied I can get by a day or two without calling or popping in. I can say in my case, we are BLESSED to have discovered Vintage Newport. I feel it is just the place for Grandpa to live out the remainder of his days.

From the front office, administration, care givers, cleaning crew, kitchen and activities crew THE MOST CARING AND COMPASSIONATE, I have yet to find someone that is not that way. My father passed just a few days ago and all the out pouring of attention that Mom and the family has received from Meridian staff has been incredible. My has decided not to move out with any of us, we wanted to take her with us, we are all good children to her I promise ; but she decided that she feels so comfortable there that wants to stay. Better compliment than that of a resident having the choice to stay or leave and yet wants to stay can't be found. The entire purpose of assisted living is to provide dependable assistance and peace of mind to residents and their families, and unfortunately, that has not been our experience. Phone calls frequently go unanswered, emails are often ignored, and most concerning of all, there have been times when she has pressed her assistance button with very long response times. Today, we decided to actually test the response time ourselves. While we were there, we pressed her assistance button and waited to see how long it would take for someone to come help her. We waited 40 minutes and nobody showed up. That experience was extremely concerning. Fourty minutes without any response isn't just poor service--it raises serious questions about resident safety. What if my mother had fallen? What if she was having a medical emergency and was unable to call anyone else? An assistance button provides very little peace of mind if nobody actually responds to it. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this facility for a loved one to ask detailed questions about staffing levels, medication administration, actual response times to assistance buttons, and how emergencies are handled before making a decision.
