My husband recently had an exam and Dr.Downs noticed he needed a prism in his lens..... no other OD has ever mentioned this, my husband's new glasses really make a difference. The optician assisted my husband with frames that look great and fit him perfectly, she recommended lenses and broke down everything very clearly by explaining our insurance benefits. I have never purchased glasses from the office since I just recently started needing an rx only for reading and computer. His optician was not pushy, and I had no issue getting a copy of my RX.
