Had Acuity for over two years. Never had a claim. Paid my annual premium in full/no installments. Had/advised windshield coverage on all vehicles when policy was started on day one. I called last week to process claim on first windshield replacement. Acuity stated not covered. I asked for them to research. Acuity called back, stated all vehicles (three vehicles) had windshield coverage but the one I needed coverage on. I explained I requested for all vehicles to have same coverages from day one. The Acuity agent made a mistake. I asked for a exception to override. I advised I have never had a accident, claim or ticket and paid my annual premium in full/no installments. The broker stated: 'YOU SHOULD OF READ YOUR POLICY!!! NO ONE NEVER READS THEIR POLICY '. She wanted to argue. I just hung up on her. I called USAA and switched within the same hour. Acuity is nice to you when you pay the premium in full each year. Then when you have a claim, they will turn unprofessional and will do everything they can to have your claim denied. I own a small Business. I have never had a claim in 15 yrs. I had Acquity for a little over a year. In that year, they changed the terms of the policy twice. Once they changed the payment date,costing me an overdraft fee at my Bank. The second time they went from a Monthly payment to a Bi Monthly payment.(2 Months) There is no way my little company can pay this. Iam retired and my small business is more of a side line. I left the policy lapse on purpose a month ago. I sent them an email asking: to requote it,based on Monthly payments,and a certain date. Unfortunately they never called or emailed back. We have had Acuity Insurance for our business, house and cars. We have always had GREAT service and response from our agent as well as an adjuster when we had a loss. We lost our business from a fire and my husband totaled our car from an animal on the road. Acuity was always helpful and very fair with any claims. This company totally ruined my family. They played as "good guys" at first but later denied everything and started to push for my family to pay a huge medical bill through arguments that are not sustainable. My dad went through the whole process of exams, and we requested a second opinion. They denied and forced my dad to stick with the same doctor. After going through a long treatment process that my dad wasn't 100% confident about the doctor, they requested a second opinion without telling my family. This second opinion was a doctor that they have chosen that advocated for them. Based on that report with a lot of misleading information and lies, they denied paying a huge medical bill that now my family has to deal with. We don't have money to pay for a lawyer, so we don't know how we will deal with it. Totally dishonest and horrible company. Leah, their representative threat us totally cold and rude without making an effort to work with us on this. She simple said go legal in case we have a problem with how they are doing business. I, too, am looking into replacing Acuity Insurance with another company. I was involved in a hit and run accident three years ago and am still being held responsible. A ladder flew out of a utility trailer on the expressway, I stopped, not hitting anything, but the car behind me, hit me and fled. Acuity has held me responsible. My car insurance doubled in comparison to other insurance companies, so I am leaving Acuity this month. Also, Acuity is affiliated with a third party Lexis/Nexis for credit reviews. It is amazing how I am not considered to have great credit by this company, Lexis/Nexis, when my credit score is 820 out of 850 with Trans Union, Experian, and Equifax. Just one more ploy to raise premiums! Who ever heard of Lexis/Nexis anyway??????!!!!! I have been with Acuity for more than 20 years---no more! read more

I use this company for commercial Auto Insurance on my service vehicles I paid everything online I asked them to drop one of the vehicles that I sold two months later I double check with my agent if the vehicle has been removed come to find out they never removed it and charge me two months for a vehicle I did not have anymore buy fault of insurance company not agent when it came time for renewal at some point they changed the numbers in my address on my file and sent me my renewal bill to the wrong address which I never received until a point where my agent had call me to tell me Insurance had dropped me for non-payment I reached out to the insurance company they acknowledge they had the wrong address but would not reinstate me and not cover me anymore because of one accident I had in 3 years which should have been only and less than $10,000 claim but they paid out a hundred thousand and then told me that because of the amount of the claim they paid I was too much of a risk plus I miss my renewal payment which was not my fault to begin with now because of the lapse in coverage I'm forced to pay $1,000 in fines to DMV this insurance company has no willing to maintain relationships with business-to-business customers nor retail customers personally not the way I run my business they screwed me read more

I was with this company for 8 years, Never filed a claim. they tripled my premium, now they are suing me. If you read their contract it says that they can recoup attorneys fees. Stay as far away from this company as you can. Not enough negative stars on the rating chart. read more

ACUITY IS BAD INSURANCE. Do not use this company, they do not honor valid claims. On a drive through Indiana a dump truck insured by this company ejected a rock which smashed my windshield requiring replacement. I saw this happen clear as day.The truck had no net over the bed. They denied my claim saying the truck was carrying very large rocks which would have caused greater damage to my vehicle. Large rocks? As if they were measured before being hauled by the carrier. Thankfully, it was only $200 to get replaced. This is the honest to God truth, I am not making anything up. So, do yourself a favor and stay away from Acuity. THEY ARE BAD INSURANCE. read more

This is the first review I have ever taken the time to write. That being said, I have given Acuity far too many chances to correct their mistakes and yet again I open my renewal paperwork last night and the vehicle I requested to be removed in October is still very much on the policy and I've continued to be auto charged to insure a car I no longer own. If this was the first, or even the 3rd mistake, I would not be writing this. We have been with this company since 2012, in that time, we have been overcharged for our property insurance, they were taking the annual premium from my escrow account AND monthly from my checking account, when I called twice to question why I was paying so much to insure two vehicles and was it possible this was an error, they told me it was correct - well after 2 years of this, a print out of charges, I figured it out and requested a refund which I found out they took from my escrow to pay me and I found this out when my mortgage payment when up $200/month because I fell short for property taxes due to their mistake. Unfortunately, the above is just one example - I won't go into any more complete background stories, but I also paid two years of another vehicle I no longer owned, still waiting to receive refund - from the print out and audit of charges, they also need to refund 6 months of premium for the 2017 withdrawal they took from my escrow in error - when I added a new vehicle last October they advised it would actually be cheaper to keep the car I wanted to replace because it would make my cost cheaper?!? (Explain that one) less expensive to insure 3 than 2?! You can't make it up. There is more, but in just writing the first few I can tell my stress level of knowing I need to yet again communicate with them is skyrocketing. It makes me so upset that they are able to get away with this - continually! I will be checking with the BBB and informing them of my experience because no one should have to go through this amount of work/research/money and stress for a product and service that are paid to do. If anyone is wondering, my husband is currently meeting with another insurance company and we will be moving EVERYTHING shortly. No way would I recommend Acuity insurance to anyone. Denied our claim when there was obvious weather contributed damage to our home. The claims adjuster used the same engineer that also denied our claim on our previous home, so I wonder how independent and un-biased the engineer was. We stayed with them for 8 years and were very disappointed so we just cancelled our policy with them. read more
