Ashlyn is a gem in the hard to navigate world of non-traditional medicine. Thousands of acupuncturists. How do you choose one? Yelp to the rescue! I'm glad I found Ashlyn on here because acupuncture with her has been a fantastic experience. Since going in for treatment, I've felt less stressed, anxious and have more energy to give. I originally went in for some knee / neck injuries, but was also curious to see the effects of acupuncture on anxiety and stress. There's definitely more to her than the treatment itself. Her compassion radiates and she looks at the whole picture (there's a reason your first appointment with her is 90 minutes long and there are no needles used) to give you suggestions for overall health and wellness. I've cut down on coffee significantly, per her suggestion...and that in itself has been a small (but noticeable) change. The first needle treatment we did was a 'cleansing' of sorts, to release the bad 'mojo.' I came into it with an open mind, but knowing that I could truly only measure its effects with how I felt after. The session itself was pretty intense. Lots of sweating -- somewhat painful (but not overwhelmingly so), but I'll tell you that after it, I felt a whole lot of tension leave my body and felt a sense of clarity and happiness. If it was placebo, I'll gladly pay to experience it again. Ashlyn is not cheap, but that's because she spends the entire session with you. Other acupuncturists will often simply stick needles in you and then leave the room, but not her. She simply puts the needle in until the point is stimulated, then withdraws it immediately. It's different than my previous experience, but it works. She also uses matcha quite often to stimulate points before using a needle. I still have ongoing sessions with her, but after a few (the second session where we actually did needle work was more subtle than the first one, but still awesome)...I'm convinced. I'll gladly recommend her to anyone. If you're looking for a phenomenal acupuncturist, stop looking. read more

A true healer. I went to Ashlyn after I got nerve damage in my arm. My doctor's office had told me that I would need an archaic and painful procedure, so I decided to try acupuncture first. In one visit, Ashlyn made the pain go away. Based on that experience, I decided to see Ashlyn regularly with my general health concerns. My asthma has never been better and she even helped alleviate some of my morning sickness. If you have gone to acupuncture before, you have probably not been to an acupuncturist like Ashlyn. I used to go a lot when I lived in California, but I had never been to someone who does 5-element acupuncture. Appointments tend to take a bit longer (especially the first one) and she doesn't actually leave the needles in. She does this thing where she puts the needle in until you feel a twinge (I am sure there is some technical name for this) and then takes it out. It may be disconcerting the first time, but I can't argue with the results. read more

Why Ashlyn is an excellent practitioner and why she should be your acupuncturist: There's a lot I can say about how wonderful Ashlyn is. But most importantly she models (at a high level of health), what she teaches. I have used other acupuncturist and not every healer is healthy themselves inside and out. And I know lots of practitioners in the holistic field. I am one myself in a different area. I look for healers who operate from integrity and a heart-center. They put the ego aside and the sessions are specifically tailored to you. She is a practitioner that is engaging, EDUCATES, guides and encourages you in a direction of self-healing. There is a difference between enabling and empowering. I've been seeing her for months now and I've witnessed a wonderful change not just on the physical (I had mild eczema and acne) level. I've also grown mentally and emotionally, where the deeper healing takes place. I feel more grounded and more empowered to make clearer decisions. She's a powerful practitioner. While my daughter was in Buffalo for SUNYAC Swim Conference she hurt her back during practice. This was not good for her and her team! She was in desperate need of immediate help for back pain relief. We searched the internet for alternative medical treatment and came across Acupuncture Buffalo. When I called and spoke with Ashlyn, she was so sweet and understanding of the situation. She didn't hesitate for a moment to squeeze us in for that day. Ashlyn reassured us that she would be able to alleviate some of the pain. Once we arrived, Ashlyn made my daughter feel so welcomed and comfortable. I have had two sessions with Ronald and let me start by saying he is amazing!! The first session we sat down and went over all the aches, pains and other stress issues going on. I went in seeking help with what I thought was a back problem. He assumed that it may be a a muscular issue, and when I seen my doctors a few days later, she said that's exactly what it seems like. A huge weight off my shoulders!! The first session ended with me feeling very relaxed. Second session yesterday, he did a lot of work on my back. I had been to another acupuncture therapist in the past but did not receive the care and consideration that I experienced with Ashlyn. My first visit was three hours, but the time went by quickly. Each subsequent visit has been at least an hour and each time, I feel welcomed and heard. Since my second visit, I have not experienced a headache, which was occurring frequently. I have been seeing Ashlyn for two months now. I would have reviewed her the day after our first session due to the incredible and immediate difference I felt, and how wonderful she was but I couldn't find the right words to express my deep gratitude. My experience with Ashlyn has been nothing short of a life changing miracle, not only for the physical affects she has implemented but the mental clarity and inner strength that is being nurtured as well. I had read about the successes of acupuncture specifically in regards to my health issues and tried one practitioner, who I did not jive with. It wasn't until several months later that I turned to acupuncture again and was referred to Ashlyn by a few friends. Her approach to work on the inside through the outside of the body AND mind was what first attracted me to her practice. I, myself believe that there is a strong connection between the two and they affect each other. Plus, I really enjoy getting to know the people who I share so much personal information with and entrust my well-being to. I immediately felt that she cared about me and my well-being and that I was in the right place and in good hands. Without getting into too much detail, I felt like I haven't felt in over two years after only my first session with Ashlyn, and it's only been getting better.
