I found Nara Clinic through Groupon. Admittedly, I've seen their offer a lot but never considered it cuz I didn't know the difference between a regular massage and an acupressure massage. Full disclosure: I've had massages, acupuncture, trigger therapy massage, trigger point acupuncture! Dude... acupressure massage... where have you been my whole life?! My first visit, Dr. Yoon greeted me, I filled out paperwork, he took vitals (height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate). I changed into a hospital gown and shorts that were provided to me. Sometimes they give you a disposable panty, sometimes they don't. So, don't go commando He then proceeded w the acupressure massage. This is not for the faint off heart. Maybe I'm more jacked up than other people but, I found it to be painful yet WORTH IT!! He would find a sore area, work on it and other parts then go back to the first area to ask me if it was still sore. Surprisingly, I felt relief after the massaging. Even my scoliosis is less, idk how to describe it, noticeable? With a curvature of the spine, muscles get pushed and have to go somewhere. So a person ends up off kilter. Well, the difference in my back muscles was less significant after the massage. That's amazing!! In this instance, less significant is a good thing. Like, you wouldn't want to have one leg longer than the other, right? I'm sorry if I'm in a session and you're waiting in the lobby for your first appointment. It might sound like he's killing me . But... if you wait to ask me afterwards how I feel, I'll give you a resounding, "I FEEL AWESOME!" Definitely worth checking out. I've only had 2 of the 3 sessions that I bought. But, I can see making this part of my regular self care and maintenance routine. read more

This was my first time doing an acupressure massage. Here is my experience: - remove shoes at the door so you can wear one of the indoor slippers. - complete the paperwork which includes medical history - height, blood pressure, and this other machine that checks for other vitals are taken - change to their gown, shorts and disposable underwear - explained to Dr. Yoon what my issues are. One of the most patient doctors ever. - lay down face up. Depending on your issues, that is where the specific points in your body will be pressed, massaged, and/or rubbed. He always asked permission before performing the pressure. Be prepared, it could hurt or be uncomfortable. It is best to practice breathing exercises to help you out. - lay face down. My main issue is my shoulder and upper back knots. And I have a whole lot of them, so this is where a good part of my massage went. Eeeks. I think all in all my massage was 30 minutes. I bought a Groupon for 1 session and regret not taking the 3 session. Dr. advised me on areas I can do myself to help improve breathing (asthmatic). Overall, the experience was really good! If you've never done acupressure, I highly encourage you to give it a try, especially when it is done by one with a doctoral degree, as they would have the education and knowledge of sources and remedies for your pain. read more

My sister highly recommended Nara Clinic's Dr Yoon because he helped her with eliminating her sciatica pain and her husband's shoulder/arm pain. Coincidentally, I too had injured my right shoulder/arm lately. My brother in law's symptoms are the same as mine. I've been in pain for 2 months now (since August of this year). I thought I just strained my arm when I was pulled by my 50 lb dog while I was holding his leash. I thought the pain will just go away but it just got worst over time. My right arm range of motion was limited to 50% due to the pain. I wasn't getting enough sleep too. I was so happy to find out that they have a great offer on groupon. Making the appointment over the phone was so easy too. I came to see Dr Yoon on October 21st for my first ever acupressure massage. The clinic is super clean & has a calm/relaxing ambiance. You have to check in & fill out a short medical form so come 15 mins before your appointment. He will then get your vital signs -height, weight, blood pressure etc. We discussed my symptoms then proceeded to give me about 30 min massage. He's very professional. He asked permission everytime he would work on an area. He also gave me warning when he knows that the massage will hurt. Right after my treatment I already felt most of the pain gone. My right arm's ROM also improved a lot. And after just a few days, I can use my right arm again without feeling pain and I'm getting good night sleep again. Dr. Yoon is amazing! I came here with a Groupon (don't bother with the "Book Now" button in the app - I'd recommend just calling directly). I recently had a large accident which has caused a lot of tightness in my hips and combined with my desk job and weight lifting routine - let's just say I have a fair share of knots. It's amazing how much noticeable better I felt, especially in my neck, after 1 hour! I've never had acupressure before so if you're curious what an appointment is like: It started with a questionnaire about your lifestyle and habits, like many massage/acupuncture places. Dr. Yoon then took my blood pressure, weight and height before sitting down with me to review my answers on the form and get more info about what was troubling me. He gave me a robe and shorts to wear and then came back and started the session. Yes, at times it hurt a little - after all he is working directly on your most painful areas. But every time he was about to hit a tender knot or area he would warn me to clench my fists because it was about to be painful. Most of the painful stuff he only worked on for about 5 counts before moving on to the surrounding areas. He was very respectful and anytime he needed to dip below the gown for a second, he would ask permission first. I came in to get in accu pressure massage today and was definitely pleasantly surprised. I'm accustomed to getting frequent massages but this is definitely something different. With my other massages I'm always relieved afterward but this one provided me with a much more whole sense of relief. My massage therapist seem to have been massaging the areas that were affecting The places that are sore eliminating the problem rather than just massaging the sore muscles. This is definitely key. At the end of the massage I was taught different stretching techniques in order to prevent These knots from reforming. I will definitely be back and was absolutely stoked about my service here. I have been struggling with chronic pain for 10 years, and in the past decade have seen literally over 100 doctors, specialists, and various medical practitioners, including massage therapists. I've began seeing Dr. Yoon at Nara Clinic for pain management over the last 2 months. Not only does he do a thorough job of kneading away the pain sites, but he uses a holistic approach following the principles of traditional Korean and Chinese medicine (I found out that he lived/studied in China for 10 years!). Dr. Yoon not only worked on the superficial pain but he gave me a full body/health assessment at my first session/consultation. He wanted to understand where my alignment was off, and it there were other issues under the surface that needed addressing. Frankly, as a Korean myself, I've often observed that Korean (well, OK, Asian!) doctors can sometimes be quite rough and lack bedside manner. But Dr. Yoon is very nice, intuitive, and has a quiet and pleasant sense of humor. And, while I have not been treated by Dr. Jin, she has always been so friendly and welcoming whenever I've come for my visits with Dr. Yoon. Also, she has many credentials and placards on display - she is an expert in Eastern Medicine for a variety of women's health issues. Granted, my pain is of a chronic nature, so I am not pain-free, but my visits here help so much and I'm on floating away on a cloud of endorphins after each session. Oh, and Dr. Yoon offers a comprehensive list of services, including acupuncture, Eastern medicine, and an array of massages. This is my fourth time here and this is by far my favorite place to go for acupressure! I've gotten acupressure for a long time and have traveled to many places to relieve my neck and back pain. I exercise a lot so my muscles are really tense, and Dr. Yoon does an amazing job of listening to your concerns and relieving the tension! I started taking my boyfriend here and we go once every month. Dr. Yoon is available on Saturday mornings/early afternoons as well! He is very friendly and easy to talk to. In just 30-40 minutes, my back feels straighter and my body feels relaxed. Dr. Yoon massages the pressure points to help relieve the tension so yes, it's a little painful for a few seconds but you feel so much better afterwards! Dr. Yoon is amazing. He has excellent bed side manner and is passionate about the profession. The drive after work on the 57 got tiring, otherwise I would have continued treatment with him. If you are close by Nara and are looking for an effective acupuncturist, make an appointment with Dr. Yoon! He speaks Korean and Mandarin Chinese. He understands English but isn't fluent. But don't let that deter you from seeing him. I've been so BLESSED to have found Dr. Jin. She's an amazing acupuncturist. I've had arthritis in my hands and haven't been able to make any type of fist in the mornings. After a few treatments I was able to make a full fist with little pain. It was a miracle! In addition, she has alleviated some of my lower back and neck/shoulder pains. She listens to my concerns and is always point on and knows where to place the needles. Dr Jin has also shown me some at home exercises. I will continue to visit her for my needs. Dr. Jin is AMAZING. After an accident, my neck was very stiff and I couldn't look to either side of me because it was so painful. Totally worth it! I bought the Groupon for 3 treatments, so each one came out to about $33. I have a decent pain tolerance and I must admit, some pressure points were hard to get through. But I absolutely love that this massage is based on pressure points, which in turn, relieve the surrounding areas. I felt so much improvement in my muscle tension across those three treatments. Dr. Yoon said that normal pricing for an acupressure massage is $65. Keep in mind, the sessions are about 30 minutes long, not a full hour. That was my only complaint... I needed more! Dr. Yoon is so knowledgeable and has been more than willing to show me some stretches to target areas he thought I needed the most work on. I will definitely be back. read more
