Poor: no clubhouse for good or drinks, just a large tent and the cook leaves early, I've brought many groups there but we only golf and leave to find a restaurant. Nice golf course but there are a lot of nice golf courses and they're all competing for our golf dollar. We had an 8:03 tee time and finished at 1:00!!!! How can this be? Well I'll tell ya not a single ranger ever was ever spotted, I've played golf for over 50 years and this is the first time in my life that for an entire 18 holes of golf we had to wait on every single shot!!! Very well maintained and well laid out course. Front nine is the "pines" and the back nine is a links style course. Great value and worth the drive even if you are an hour away. The only reason it is not 5 stars is because unfortunately it is SO popular it can be up to 5 hours for a round, do not anticipate a quick 18. read more

Fantastic front 9. Back nine is open links (which is fine), but confusing (and dangerous) in that players were driving their carts through our fairway without realizing that we were in play. Front 9 moved quickly, but between 9 and 10 it seems lots if players like to stop for a beer/hot dog and that just slowed everything down. We had not seen any players in front us on front 9, but at tee off for 10 there were 2 groups just waiting their turn due to the delays caused by the food/drink breaks. The back up in play on the back 9 was ridiculous and I won't play it again unless the car park is basically empty (or if the concession is closed). Driving range is fine, but the range balls are horrid. 1/2 bucket of balls with 3 cracked one (one of which had the outer casing hanging off). All that being said, I will be back - a lot - for the beautiful front 9! read more

A solid course well worth the price but has some negatives that bring it down a bit for an overall course. Pros: The price was well justified for the course conditions in the spring. It was $47 including cart. The course itself was in fantastic condition and well kept. There was a lot of ground under repair, but I'd rather see that they're working on it rather than just letting it get out of control. All the sand seemed new as it was incredibly light and clean. Its great to see a starter and ranger that actually cares about their job. We went out as a twosome and with two foursomes in front of us we still managed to play in just over four hours. We saw the ranger frequently, I guess keeping pace of play moving well. Cons: The club house is a trailer. I know this isn't a huge thing, but for the overall experience and image of the course is lacking without even a basic club house. They have a small snack stand but no posted prices and very few choices. Also very expensive. Paid $7 for a small sandwich and Gatorade. They also don't allow coolers on the course. No ball washers or water coolers ANYWHERE. This one is huge. The lack of ball washers and coolers on a championship course is unacceptable. If you aren't going to have water coolers around you need a snack cart. The driving range was unacceptable for a proper practice facility. The mats were all ripped up and very difficult to hit off of. Also the range balls were in extremely rough shape. Out of our small bucket we had about eight that were completely cracked. All in all not the best course, but for the sub $50 inc cart its well worth it if you're not looking for much more than a nice course. Don't plan on spending more than a few swings on the range, and make sure to bring your own water and snacks. They need to invest some time and money on the range and clubhouse/trailer. read more

Fantastic course layout and conditions. WAY too many golfers on the course. Waited 10 to 15 minutes on every hole! No rangers. Sold me 18 holes at 2:30 but had to know I would never finish by 7:00. Told me the front gate would be locked at 7:00. It only got the three stars because I thought the course was so nice. Went back and played on 6/17/18. Got to play the full 18. Terrific course! I went this past Sunday and had a 2pm tee time. $35 for 18 with a cart. With the cost being so low I was expecting a shit hole. The course was in beautiful condition. The front 9 is a typical course lay out and the back is more of a links style. I personally think they should have the links first since the holes are so damn long. I was exhausted towards the end of the round and the length of the holes made it even more difficult. At first I attributed this to it being my first time out this year. But after talking to the other 11 people in our party everyone said the same thing. Nonetheless I found it to be a well thought out course and in great shape. I was a little worried when we showed up and the line for the first tee was deep. There were 12 people in our group with a 2pm tee time. I overheard 3-4 guys in different groups also say they had a 2pm tee time. The ranger started a few off at the 10th and we were on our way. Play was quick and we didn't wait at all. I have to agree with the other reviewer that it's truly a "hidden gem". I would definitely go back! read more

This hidden gem is in SE Mass. The course is in immaculate condition with long rough, manicured fairways and top flight greens. The design is a bit unusual with the front nine laid out as a typical course in the pines and a back nine laid out in a links style. The blues play around 6300 hundred yards with 122 slope; the course is challenging but not overwhelming. You are dead if you do not keep your drives in the fairways. The rough is long making the second shot to the green very difficult. Greens are firm and fast. Best to play with someone that knows the course the first time. There are several blind shots on the front where local knowledge is important. Staff is friendly and accommodating. My only real compliant is that they pack the course at times leading to 5 hour rounds. read more

I was visiting my son from FL in July and found this course on the internet. I shoot to a 15 handicap and play golf 2-3 times a week in FL and I've played at a number of private curses in the area during past visits. I was amazed to find this treasure of a public course. The fairways were in great shape, distances well marked and the greens ran true and fast. Staff was very accomodating in getting me tee times and I was pleased to see I got off at my precise time. The course is very well taken care of and a great public course. The issue I had is that on a Wednesday morning and no one was controlling the rate of play. I'm currently still trying to finish my round and am currently on hole 16 waiting to tee off, with 4 hours already having gone by. With an 8:36 tee time I should be finished in no more than 4.5 hours. Impossible to play through because each hole has a group on the green as well as in the fairway when we arrive at the tee box. Shamefully slow. Update: It ended up picking up after 16 and we did finish in 4.5 hours. We found out a league started the back right before we made the turn. read more

This is a really interesting course. In fact, it's really like two course because the front 9 and the back 9 are totally different. The front is more of a traditional Cape Cod style - tree lined, lots of elevation changes. The back is more like a links course. Wide open, long. Always in good shape. I can only think of one explanation for how a public course of this caliber came into existence here: Acushnet is the home base of Titleist! There are (as I recall) five sets of tees, so the degree of difficulty is almost infinitely variable...though I doubt that it becomes a cream puff even from the most forward. Challenging without being depressingly difficult, the challenges here are legitimate (i.e., mostly natural) rather than presenting you with a 'tricked up' course. An outstanding value. There's a driving range, and large practice putting green. Sure, they saved money on the clubhouse - with its limited, but adequate food and drink offerings. But who cares? For a wedding reception, maybe you should look elsewhere! read more

Great local muni! The front and back 9s are night and day-you go from a typical New England woodland course to a "links" style course. The conditions are very good except for the bunkers which are full of rocks. Do your clubs a favor and take a drop! Friendly staff and reasonable greens fees. read more

Good course the back side from 12 to 16 really opens up. The staff is good. 13 is a long par 4 followed by a really long par 5, then 15 is a short par 4 over water if you dare or a lay up to the right if you are not going to carry the ball 260 over water. The biggest flaw to the course is the bunkers, they are in rough shape and need some attention ASAP. read more

Course is in amazing shape and you can't do much better for the price. However, they let us book a tee time for 1:20, knowing the Wednesday night league started at 3:30. When we made the turn we had to wait an hour to tee off on 10 because there were eight groups waiting to tee off. Seems like information we could have used before we paid to play, so we at least knew to get to hole 10 by that time. They probably shouldn't book any tee times after 1PM in general. Went on short notice on a Tuesday no problem getting out good deal 40 with cart before 8. Tee boxes and fairways always in great shape greens were ok sure it be better as season goes on. Only thing today was work being done on one of par 3 off to side of green was an working excavator a little distracted but we manage had my best rd of season so far. oh yeah if you don't hit fairways rough was very thick but that's price you pay. read more

If your looking for a good public course, this is the place to go. When I first pulled into the the parking lot on Saturday a 14 year old worker brought me a cart without having me ask for one. He was a very nice kid who's name is brody. He gave me a score card and a towel and in return I tipped him $5 for the help he gave me. I then drove my cart up to the club house to pay. The golf professional who ran the pro shop was very friendly and gave me tips about the course. I then head down to the range to hit some golf balls. Despite the fact that the balls were a bit out of shape, they still flew well and that's all that counts for a driving range. I was then ready to play. The starter welcomed me to the course and gave me additional tips of how to play here. Overall the course was a true gem. The front nine was all woods and the back nine was wide open like a European course. Despite the slow greens I had a good time at the golf course that day and I will be back again to play another day. read more
