Look, I know we already have low expectations of dmv offices, but when people have to wait 3-4 hours just to get their licensed renewed while there are 10 windows not being used, that's a problem.

Stood in the door way and 2 workers wouldn't get out of the way, there were people coming out more than going in. It was just so rude when they had a wait time. Not only that the men's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. I work at a gas station and my store is cleaner than the da

Clean, well managed, amicable staff. About as good as you can expect from a trip to the DMV.

I called the Franklin office to find out what I needed, and the woman who answered was incredibly pleasant and helpful. She explained that because I'm still making payments on my vehicle, I could only register it for one year instead of two (if you own your vehicle outright, you can register it for up to two years). She also let me know I'd need to bring my current registration, driver's license, and the actual vehicle for a VIN inspection. She suggested making an appointment online before coming in. I figured I'd be waiting several days for an appointment, but to my surprise, I logged onto the website around 2:00 p.m. and was able to book a 3:00 p.m. appointment that same day! Since I wanted to stop by Trader Joe's afterward, the Meridian location made perfect sense. I arrived just a few minutes after 3:00 p.m. The office is tucked away in a corner next to a kids store, so I was a little confused at first, but thankfully I rely on my GPS for everything. Once inside, I scanned the QR code from my appointment at the welcome kiosk, received my number, and found a seat among about 20-30 people in the waiting area. I had barely been sitting for a minute before my number was called. I honestly thought, "Today must be my lucky day!" Travis helped me with my registration from start to finish, and he was fantastic. He explained everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and even helped me with my personalized license plates. The plate combination I originally wanted wasn't available, so he suggested another option that I actually like even more. Now I can't wait for my new plates to arrive! This was my very first DMV experience in Idaho, and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. The office was clean, the process was quick and organized, and Travis provided outstanding customer service. If every DMV experience were like this, no one would dread going! Welcome to Idaho, indeed!

We were at the DMV for title updates three times this past week, and while the popular perception is that Flash from Zootopia is running the place, that's not right. Every staff member was polite, fast, and courteous. Darryl attended to us on the last visit and was very patient with us as we missed a signature on the title document. I also liked how some of the booths were personalized. One booth had multiple sloths. Here are some tips. Book online and save time Show up about 10 mins early Enter your booking ID from your email and get your ticket. You may be called immediately Have the right people attending. If your name is not on the title, whether it's the updated one or the new one, nothing can be done. There is a credit/debit card fee of 2% or something, but there is an ATM in the lobby. Either pay the 2% fee or bring cash or a check. Considering my own experiences with the DMVs in other states, we're very fortunate to have convenient DMV locations with personable folks working there.

The staff was extremely friendly, respectful, and helpful throughout the entire process. Everything was well-organized and moved faster than we expected. Important note for those moving from out of state (especially California): This office only helps with driver licenses and ID cards. They do not process vehicle registrations. For that, you'll need to go to: Ada County DMV Meridian Branch, 1769 N Lakes Pl #100, Meridian, ID 83646 Also, if you're moving from California (and possibly other states), be aware that you must take a written knowledge test on the computer, even if you've been driving for decades with a clean record. No behind-the-wheel test is required, but the written test is mandatory. So be prepared and study beforehand! Overall, this office made what could have been a stressful task feel simple and welcoming. A big thanks to the team for making our transition to Idaho so smooth.

I was pleasantly surprised, that yes, I can just walk up the grand staircase and into the rotunda. The liberty bell is currently being restored so it's not there but the rotunda and statues are all there. You can take the free tour and if not, just walking around and finding pockets of history is inspiring. For instance, the mail tunnels/gold slots are active ones so if you plan ahead, you can mail something out from the capital building (sadly, it doesn't have a special postmark). Also, the Idaho treasurer's office hallway is worth a visit because Spuddy Buddy dressed up as American heroes is just so Idaho. If you start there, you can pick up a 250th year scavenger hunt for kids where they can walk into the house of reps and collect stickers, bookmarks, and other things from the offices there. Also, don't skip out on the historical room with the bank vault doors. If you are into old bank doors (e.g. the bank door and vault at 8 Horses Lounge), they have two here with great random facts. I don't know what parking is like but many people ride Lime scooters and bikes there.
