He lied to my face, telling me that my cortisol levels were "fine" when he intentionally told me to go get them tested in the afternoon. Apparently, you have to get them tested before 10 a.m. A year later, I got tested again and found I had high cortisol, significantly impacting my diabetes. I am deeply hurt and upset, and he did this because of his assumptions about me. He prescribed me a second-rate medication for my diabetes, when my insurance covered a much better and more efficacious medication. He was rude to my face, insulting me at every meeting. He lied to my insurance company, telling them my BMI is twice what it actually is. This was not malpractice, this was a hate crime. read more

1. Tells an elite athlete suddenly sidelined drastically overnight, that it's just either depression or a sleeping disorder. I know my body. 12 years of training and competition. I am also female, which according to 2 other women I know who've had similar experiences with Dr. Law, means the number one diagnosis is that it's all in our heads. ALSO : IGNORES THE ONLY ABNORMAL RESULT IN MY BLOOD WORK. He says that he doesn't think it's a problem for thyroid peroxidase antibodies to show up. That means my body is attacking its own thyroid. That's A FACT. He doesn't think the number is high enough to be "clinically significant." You know what REALLY isn't clinically significant? Dr. Law's opinion. 2. I said I would get a second opinion: HIS EXACT WORDS: I quote: "I would advise you against doctor-shopping." Just let that one sink in for a moment... 3. His office practice billed me for a "Behavioral Health assessment" that was handed to me by the receptionist at check-in- FOR AN OBGYN visit with a nurse practitioner. They just tell you to fill out the forms. I ask later why the charge on my bill for an assessment that I neither requested or recalled receiving. I am told it's an optional form that I don't have to fill out. How about telling me that up front before I am "assessed" and then charged for something I don't need or want? That violates informed consent, by the way. The informed consent I sign agreeing to treatment at this office does NOT include care that I didn't consent to receiving. Informed consent can be revoked at any time. Except in this case, no consent, because I wasn't informed. 4. His practice decided to keep my credit card on file when I KNOW I did not give them permission. At least they deleted it when I told them to. Given that they want to charge me for things that are optional and unnecessary, but not tell me they are optional, that seems a bit shady. 5. Office assistant casually calls out to the other admin, while the "window" is open so everyone in the waiting room within reasonable hearing can hear: "Did that IUD we ordered come in yet?" Thanks a lot. HEY. Ever heard of something called HIPAA? 6. I had almost a 2 hour wait past my initial appointment time for the privilege of being allowed to see the great Dr. Law. 7. Although I am an athlete and muscular, the outdated one-size-fits-all BMI (body mass index calculator) in their electronic system flags me as OBESE. That is hilarious. AND demeaning. I should post a photo. 8. Because I see the NP for OBGYN care, and opted in using the patient portal to text messaging and emails, and phone calls, I am then harassed for two months by robo call, text message, and email to schedule a ROUTINE appointment in the middle of a pandemic. I think not. 9. I unsubscribe to text messages hitting reply on my phone and typing 564STOP which is what the messages say to reply, in order to opt out. I do this four times, receiving confirmation that I have unsubscribed...and continue receiving text messages. This is actually in violation of the FCC TCPA, I believe.Finally I go in through the Patient Portal to try and stop the harassment. Maybe the account settings for the portal do NOT allow unsubscription from text messages by text reply? I have unsubscribed from everything, and if it doesn't stop, a cease-and-desist letter will be my next step. 10. This is the second time I've been harassed for months by this practice for an OB GYN appointment. The only reason for my going to this office for that sort of care is that Hannah Stevens, NP used to work there. She had to put an end to the harassment once by telling the office manager to stop. She retired, and I thought her replacement was pretty okay. The office practice? NO. 11. As of 7/28/20, one of the super positive reviews here is by Dr. Law's wife. That's a violation of Yelp guidelines, so hopefully that gets flagged and pulled. 12. I like Hannah Cramer, NP, and she provides good care. But given the overall experiences with this practice, I'm letting them go and finding a new OBGYN provider. (Sorry, Hannah, it wasn't your fault!). If you are a woman who wants REAL CARE, AN ACTUAL DIAGNOSIS, AND YOU DON'T WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE CRAP, GO TO PAULA FITZSIMMONS AT CAYUGA WOMEN'S HEALTH. I'm on the right meds, feeling healthy and strong again. Thank goodness I found Paula Fitzsimmons. Dr. Law didn't care about my symptoms or listening to me, so if I hadn't gotten a second opinion I would probably be still sick, nonfunctional and unemployed. Maybe even disabled. If you are female, do NOT bother seeing this doctor. He represents some of the worst aspects of the medical profession: arrogance, sexism, inaccurate assumptions obviously influenced by personal bias, and refusal to listen to patients or truly investigate their symptoms. After waiting about an hour and a half to see him, he told me that: 1) I must be depressed or have a sleep disorder, and that my ONLY abnormal blood test (thyroid peroxidase antibodies) was not "clinically relevant." 2) When I said I was a long-time endurance athlete, and I knew my own body quite well, and my change in weight and energy levels had suddenly and drastically changed, he ignored this and tried to refer me for a sleep disorder test. 3)When I said I would get a second opinion, he said (HIS WORDS) that he would "advise against doctor-shopping." This guy actually said this. The arrogance, the complete refusal to LISTEN, and the dismissal of women as hysterical hypochondriacs is absolutely amazing. Other women with whom I've spoken have had similar experiences. Maybe if you have a penis he might-MIGHT-listen to something you have to say. Doesn't mean he will provide good medical care, though. Fortunately, I found a COMPETENT doctor who LISTENED, ran additional tests, I was accurately diagnosed and treatment has helped tremendously. Wish I hadn't wasted my time with this a$$hole. Dr Law ignored my symptoms because I go to the pain clinic and was taking narcotics for chronic pain. He told me I was " fine" , nothing was wrong with me. I went to a local rheumatologist who diagnosed me with an autoimmune disease and he felt my blood work showed some other issues so he sent me to an immunologist. I was tested and I have Primary Immunodeficiency disease ( PID), IgG and ImG I have to get plasma infusions every 3 weeks other because I don't t produce antibodies to fight infections. I feel so much better under treatment. Dr Law judged me because I went to the pain clinic. He is an idiot. He is a horrible doctor. Run like hell! Don't go to him! Best doc in Ithaca. Those two one star reviews are written by the same person it seems, I'd take them with grain of salt. Dr. Law has saved my life more times than I can count. He's one of maybe 5 doctors in 43 years that actually listens to me, I have a rare auto immune disease most people haven't heard of or kow how to treat, and his listening skills actually made me move back to Ithaca from Colorado because I knew I'd be in competent hands. Adam Law has been my doctor for 20 years. He has saved my life once and prevented a very untoward outcome once. The first time was when, as an aftermath of shingles, I developed trigeminal neuralgia. If you are interested, you can look up the disorder. In my case, the number of paroxysms were roughly doubling every day. Dr. Law went out on a limb, went against the advice of a local leading neurologist, and prescribed carbamazepine. I have never had a trigeminal neuralgia paroxysm since. The second time was when I was bitten by a tick. The standard test for Lyme's disease came back negative. Dr. Law followed up on this negative test, listened to my symptoms, and immediately ordered an EKG. I had heart blockage. After taking appropriate meds for Lyme's disease, I recovered. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Law's for the past 5 years. In 2013, I started meeting with him due to thyroid concerns and in 2014 was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He was very thorough in his recommendations for my treatment and in every appointment took the time to fully explain the condition and my options. He has also been incredibly helpful in all of my follow up appointments in the past 4 years; in each appointment he's taken the time to fully explain blood tests, levels, etc. and answer my questions so that I understand my health and medical care. I am a patient of Dr. Law's. I am a Type 1 Diabetic. I use a CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) system to check my blood sugar levels. The battery in my CGM transmitter died. I asked Dr. Law's office to write me a prescription for a new CGM transmitter. Dr' Law's office failed to provide my health insurance provider (Excellus) with the required documentation. Therefore, Excellus rejected the request for a new CGM transmitter. I ended up waiting over a month before I got a new CGM transmitter. I used Dr' Law's patient portal to complain about the services that I received from his office. He replied, and I quote: "I agree with you - this is hardly a way to appreciate us doing an appeal. I think we can give him Reilly Coch's number when he comes to town." Reilly Coch is an endocrinologist in Ithaca. So let me sum up: I complained about the service I received from Dr. Law's office and he suggested that I find another doctor! Very professional! read more
