I'm so confused with the low ratings from this place. I've…read morebeen seeing Dr. Epstein for years as I have bulging discs in my lower back and they have done nerve ablation as well as steroid shots to alleviate the pain. These work for about a year and want to keep doing this until I absolutely have to get surgery. Everyone is always very nice, polite, friendly, and professional. Dr. Stephanie Epstein has always been very thorough and friendly. Never makes me feel rushed during appointments. Every procedures I've had has gone flawlessly and all the nurses and anesthesiologists have been great. I absolutely would recommend them.

My advice----- if you need compassion, respect, and prompt medical care--STAY AWAY from Florida…read moreOrthopaedic Institute Surgery Center!!!!!! Was given referral for exam and hip treatment from PCP office....called to schedule "already approved" appointment. Had to fill out tons of questions and provide in-depth health info. Received numerous emails and messages. On Friday evening at 4;45 pm received call from this office telling me they could not reach Primary Care Physicians office to receive referral over the wire? I already have an official referral from my doctor!!!! Staff person--Obnoxious....RUDE....and under-trained.Typical "Big Business Medical Office" After explaining my lack of speaking ability due to larynx cancer and radiation....I whispered "Your office simply told me to bring referral with me to appointment!" Not good enough for employee who called me. Trying to speak causes me to pass out from lack of oxygen.....so with my last gasp I cursed and rushed to sit down and get air. I'm aghast at the incompetence...the insensitivity....and the complete lack of communication and compassion displayed by this "practice." Proves there is no more hippocritical oath for doctors to actually treat and care for patients. I'll be filing a formal complaint with the state insurance commission. **Thanks** Florida Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center-------- for your callous treatment of a handicapped senior citizen!!!! *******You should be ashamed!!!!*****

So disappointing…read more Moved to FL and found myself dealing with an old shoulder issue. I was in sooo much pain. Went in person on a Monday and asked about next available appointment. The woman at the desk truly seemed to take pleasure in saying it would be months before I could be seen. Honestly, I've never thought that about any medical office but she was sneering and laughing. I told her I'd been in 10/10 psin since Friday night. I'm not a drug seeker ( or I would have gone to an ER). I wanted a consult and possibly a guided steroid shot to stop the pain. Major mean girl vibes. How about offering to have a doctor call me? A nurse? I told her I had no ortho in FL and this issue had been dormant for years. Edited for typos

He usually spent only a few minutes with me, which I found disappointing for the cost. At my last visit, I arrived before another patient, but he chose to see her first. When it was finally my turn, he spent less than five minutes -- just a quick neck adjustment -- and then left. I was left lying there for about 30 minutes without him checking on me, until I finally got up and left on my own after being in his office for exact an hour. On top of that, when I felt I didn't receive proper treatment, I called and asked for either a reimbursement or another therapy session at no charge since he hadn't done his job. I made sure the receptionist understood that I wasn't going to pay, and she said, "Okay, hold on, let me check with him." When she came back, she told me I could come on a specific date. After driving 35 minutes to the office, she then told me I had to pay $95. I reminded her this was supposed to be a follow-up for the treatment I never received, but she insisted she had never confirmed I wouldn't be charged. Such a disappointing and unprofessional experience -- both with Dr. Lao and his receptionist. For the high prices they charge and the lack of care provided, I cannot recommend this practice to anyone.
