After recently spending weeks visiting Addenbrookes Rosie hospital I have spent an absolute fortune…read moreon parking. My wife was in for 3 weeks before she had the baby, and then the baby was in special care for 3 weeks after. To begin with the staff amde out that my wife would be able to come home within days, so i didnt buy a longer term car park ticket, which would have saved me a fortune. I wouldnt mind but the hospital dont get the money from the car park anyway. The staff at the hospital were great. obviously over worked, but they were doing a great job and were incredibly busy. A couple of times there were mistakes with the medication which the more oblivious patient would not have noticed. The service in the Special Care Baby Unit was awesome. The staff tehre really care about what they are doing and do their best to put you at ease. A bad experience, made easier with the care of the great staff.

During labour/postpartum, the midwife KAY repeatedly spoke to me in a rude and dismissive manner. I did not feel listened to when I expressed concerns, pain, or asked questions. At a time when I was vulnerable and needed compassionate care, I instead felt judged and ignored. One particular issue that upset me was being told to push when my body wasn't ready which resulted in me having a 3C tear. This made me feel anxious, humiliated, and unsafe during what should have been one of the most important moments of my life. I understand that maternity wards can be busy and stressful, but professionalism, empathy, and respectful communication should still be maintained at all times. My experience fell far below the standard of care I expected. The emotional impact of this experience has stayed with me well after the birth. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that no other mother is made to feel the same way. I would appreciate this complaint being reviewed and addressed appropriately. As I feel 17 months late the aftercare has been shocking from The Rosie Hospital.
