I reserved a ride with Addison Lee from Kings Cross to Heathrow Airport. My driver was 30 mins late. I called customer support and they wouldn't help without my booking number, which just wasn't handy at the sidewalk pickup spot. I found the driver's phone number in the app, and called him for his status. All he said was "traffic man, what can I do" then hung up on me. When he did arrive he was clearly in no hurry, almost intentionally, despite how close we were to departure time. It is apparent that these folks don't care. A very similar thing happened on my last trip with them. They used to be dependable, but no more. I recommend finding another option for car service. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY appalling customer service on the 7th June. I had prebooked a taxi with your company to take me and my 80yr old disabled mum I would like to lodge a complaint regarding your appalling customer service on the 7th June. I had prebooked a taxi with your company to take me and my 80yr old disabled mum to the emirates stadium as we were going to see Robbie in concert. I knew transport was going to be issue so chose what I thought was a reputable company, how wrong was I, to PREBOOK and PAY for our journeys to take the STRESS out of the evening, ensuring we would be able to safely get back to our hotel at the docklands. The pick up journey taking us to the Emirates from the docklands, was amazing and the driver was super helpful and professional and I thought I'd definitely made the right choice in booking with your company. However how wrong could I be. We arranged to meet the taxi at Holloway station at 0004 as it gave us enough time to exit the stadium and ensure we could get to the collection point in plenty of time. When it got to 0004 I called the office after fighting past an automated bot to speak to a call handler to ask where our taxi was, as I hadn't had any correspondence from your company since I made the booking, yet for the pick up I had messages to let me know my driver was on their way etc. This woman stated that they didn't have a driver available for our pick up and would keep us updated. Now if I had been calling to book a taxi immediately that made perfect sense, BUT I had PREBOOKED & PAID for collection at 0004. when I asked the call handler what she meant she said, we dont have any drivers free for your booking. Now again this was PREBOOKED on the 6th June 24 hrs before we needed the taxi. I explained that this was for an 80yr disabled lady with a mobility scooter hence why I PREBOOKED so that the vehicle could take the scooter. I then got told to make my own provision to get back to my hotel. So your company were happy to leave 2 women, one of which is 80yrs and disabled, to find their own way across London in the middle of the night. I dont understand how you can get away with scamming people to pay upfront for a PREBOOKING then just not fulfil the booking. I will be sharing this awful experience all across.my social media and especially the disability groups advising them to never use use your company as its appalling that your staff treated an 80yr disabled person like this, what if it was their mother or nan who had been left stranded, would they have been happy. Your company was willing to leave 2 females stranded in London, at that time of night with no care at all, but of course why would you when you had my money in your bank already. Thankfully a traditional London black cabby was able to help us and also confirm that this isn't an isolated incident and that your company is known to only care about the money and not its customers. to the emirates stadium as we were going to see Robbie in concert. No show for an early morning booking for an important taxi to go for a surgery. No communication of any problem, called and got an automated line telling me they were still looking for a car. Eventually called by a person five minutes after the car was due to be there telling me they were still looking for a car for me. Thank god for uber as otherwise would have missed my surgery. Confirmed advance bookings should be honoured but clearly the company is they will do their best on the day according to what cars are in the area - so the huge premium and peace of mind of booking isn't actually real. Not to communicate at all if there is a problem is completely disrespectful. Don't use. read more

Appalling, fraudulent company. They should be called Addition Lee, since they are constantly adding large, unjustifiable charges without consent or notification, often due to negligible "waiting time". On my last encounter their website failed and the courier I'd booked showed up unannounced. This is after I have spent 20 minutes on the phone to them due to a recurring error page, which ultimately failed to register the correct booking time. They refused to acknowledge any issue with their buggy website and I have now been charged in full for a service I could not use. They simply take no responsibility for their failure ever. AVOID AVOID AVOID these frauds! read more
Great experience in London with my family. I initially reached out to other limo companies you find on the web and they all were price gouging an American on vacation simply looking for a car and driver for 5 hours. We booked a ride 3 months ahead of time through the Virgin Atlantic portal. We specifically requested a baby seat for our infant; that's the only reason we book more expensive rides so early, to ensure we get it. The driver showed up in a sedan with no baby seat. He was unaware of the request, and his car was not fit for a baby seat. Time did not allow us to find another solution; with a plane to catch at Heathrow, we felt like being taken hostage by Addison Lee's incompetence. We ended up doing a one-hour ride under heavy rain with an infant not strapped or properly secured in any way. If your ride is booked through a third party like Virgin Atlantic, make sure it is not Addison Lee. Any other service will be much better for cheaper. read more

I did not have an account so they sub contracted to another driver. They quoted me £17.50 from house to railway station showing me route. I agreed. I watched meter and it amounted to no more than the quoted amount . We were out the front ready to be collected. The route was as quoted . The traffic was light. We arrived in the quoted estimated time. We disembarked and tipped driver £2.50 A month later Addison Lee billed us an extra 50% that is £7.50 plus £2 service fee. For additional charges . For what ?I emailed and had a glib response and they took no responsibility. I would not use them and use Uber or flag a cab. read more

Absolutely terrible. I lived with a woman with extreme anxiety that had funding to cover her travel to and work from work everyday. Addison Lee were aware of her condition and agreed to collect her every day, on time. Most days they were 30 minutes - 1 hour + late!!! Shocking. Cancelled the business account with them after just two weeks. They are appaling. read more

Abandoned by a driver half way through the journey so walking home at 3.30 AM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't quite believe this just happened. The driver responded to my 'hello' that my 'home address is not clear' and then started going the wrong direction, at some point when he missed all the turns, I pointed out to him that he was going the wrong way and he assured me he knows what he's doing. I say OK but he kept going and it was really off course so I pointed it out again saying we can't miss our flight so can he please check the destination on the map he is following (He was refusing to go the direction because he was following 'the map')!! He eventually turns back to go the right direction but takes a wrong turn again!! I notify him that he took the wrong turn again, the destination is 1 min away on the left, why did he turn right? At this point he is full on shouting at me saying I can't tell him what to do!!!!! I call the AL team in my panic, the operator had no idea how to deal with this and after I had explained above, she asks me 'well can you not ask the driver to take you where you need go'!!! The driver (who is eating his stinky sausage roll which is making me nauseous ) is shouting at me saying 'you can't tell me what to do'!!!! I hung up the phone, ask him to stop the car and get out finally (after 20min driving the wrong direction)! At this stage I was worried for my own safety in the car and outside the car (it was 3.30 AM)! I run for the airport bus which was missed of course so walking home at 3.30am!! I call Addison Lee again and they say 'they can't authorise a refund and since it's Christmas (it's the 3rd Dec), they don't know when they will be able to get back to me!!!! And I just got a notification that they have decided to charge me £14.70 for this lovely service!!! UNBELIEVABLE! read more

I'm not one to normally write reviews, but I feel the need to share with potential travelers. I booked a 9:00 AM car pickup from Heathrow a few weeks in advance of our arrival in London, and was told the driver would text me when they were on their way. My partner and I set at the arrivals gate for 30 minutes without any correspondence before I had to call the main number for any information. I also asked every other Addison Lee driver I saw at the gate for information, which could not be provided. I was told that he would arrive within 15 minutes, which did not happen. I was also not given any way to communicate with our driver. Ultimately, we set at the arrivals gate for over 70 minutes after our scheduled pick up time (without any communication) before our driver arrived without even the slightest acknowledgement or apology for the tardiness. I would have understood if we could have been told that there was a delay, I know that things happen and there are always variables when dealing with London traffic. However, I was unsure if we were going to have a car. I would have just gotten a cab after the 45 minute mark, but I had already been charged for the ride, so we were stuck in limbo. read more

I booked them to go to the airport from Hilton canary wharf on 7th June 6pm -the chauffeur refused us saying he can't fit mom's wheelchair in though the wheelchair was in as he did put it -but he didn't want to the small suitcase on the seat- He did not even help my elderly mom to go back inside the hotel and left us standing last minute- I'm never using this service again and kindly take action in solving this behavior, it's unacceptable! read more

If zero was an option they would receive a zero. Making a change to a reservation with Addison Lee is extremely difficult and if you are able to reach someone on the phone, expect rudeness, as I experienced. Absolutely terrible experience. When I could not reach a person, the email response from them said they will aim to respond to me within 5 days. Hmmm...since my arrival is in less than 12 hours, I don't think 5 days will be soon enough. You cannot make this up. "Thank you for your email. Showed up at 10 am to pick us up for a flight arriving at 10:40 then charged us for 53 minutes waiting. Also charged for LHR parking (this was not disclosed in advance). It took 10 minutes to find the driver at the Customs exit. He spent all his time on the phone during the drive. Our credit card was hit for 40 pounds extra several days after the ride. The extra charges doubled the cost of the transportation. Avoid them like the plague! read more

DO NOT USE THEM! Was having a lovely day out in London, Addison Lee picked us up from a beer garden and took us to a gig at Knebworth - Jay was a great driver, we tipped him well, so far so good. We had them booked for the return journey from Stevenage that night, nothing to worry about... Was standing in Knebworth Park in the middle of enjoying Liam Gallagher gig which I'd travelled the full length of the UK for - and it basically got ruined by the blunt last-minute text I received at 10pm saying the car had been cancelled. The problems for those at the same gig the previous night were well documented so there was now no way for me and my 5 friends to return to London. Finally got through to their call centre, spoke to operator and then the manager, neither of who were cooperative or willing to assist in any way. Offered multiple solutions calmly, including waiting an extra hour, and even had the driver of our first journey out to Knebworth willing to get out of his bed to come and collect us if the staff would send him a job number, and they refused to do so. Absolutely shocking service!! Almost ruined our entire weekend and would've seen us stranded out in Stevenage. If it wasn't for the kind random bus driver who managed to squeeze us onto his bus we would've been totally stuck on a cold night. I repeat, DO NOT USE THEM! Asked for an apology and some compensation to dish out to my out of pocket friends - neither came, and wasn't surprised. The worst company and people. read more
"Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light." - Yogi Bhajan I now define "light" as being able to move the entirety of your possessions in one or two trips via Addison Lee minicab. This weekend I moved from Kensington to Clerkenwell in two trips but looking back, I think I could've done it in one. Addison Lee is right on, let me count the ways: - They've got my information stored in their system so I simply recite my mobile and they know me. - You can prepay your journey so there are no surprises when you arrive at your destination. - They arrive earlier than they say they will. They quote you seven minutes, they arrive in three. - When the driver arrives, you get a text. - The drivers are always professional and nice. Last night, I somehow got locked INSIDE my flat (you have to live in the UK to understand how such a thing could occur) and I hollered to the driver. Nice guy that he was, he caught the keys I tossed him from the window and came and unlocked my front door so I could escape. I think that pretty much sums up why Addison Lee is my transporter of choice! read more
Beware! Additional credit card charge billing by this company!!! I booked cabs with this company while in London about a week ago using my AMEX. Several days after returning to the states I received fraud alerts from AMEX because 2 new charges had been billed to my card for taxis when I was halfway around the world! AMEX had to immediately cancel my card and reissue a new one. This was my corporate card and was tied to tons of auto pay accounts for travel, all of which now need to be updated. AMEX is investigating. I will be charitable here and state that this *could* have been an honest billing error of some kind, but the charges were completely different than my previous week so this is unlikely. I would advise not using this company if you plan to pay using a credit card. Very disappointing, as they were recommended to me as being very reputable. read more

I feel like Addison Lee are old, reliable friends of mine. I've used them for everything imaginable, from rides to and from work to chauffeur driven cars for parties, oh and for a few drunken night time rides home in between. They are super efficient, txting you when they're on the way and again when they're waiting outside your house. I've never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for a car and I've often kept them waiting after work, which of course does cost, but they've never, ever complained. The cars are all super polished and clean inside whilst the drivers are friendly and helpful (I once moved house and loaded up a pile of junk into one of their estate cars with the help of Barry) and most importantly they know exactly how to do a great job, which for me often means knowing when to cut the small talk and let me snooze in the back. Plus they're much cheaper than black cabs whose meter will often run you up an extortionate bill for a much shoddier service. AL are so fantastic that I wont use anyone else. These guys should be on speed dial in your phone too. read more

Nightmare. Arranged taxi with 24 hour notice for visiting family with two young children. We're supposed to wait at St Pancras arrivals with a sign. 1) didn't show up until 3. 2) Didn't come inside terminal as paid for. 3) didn't answer phone I'm spite of 10 calls and a message stating arrival and to call. Contact centre were completely hopeles and said I had not been charged. Check my account and guess what... I have been charged. Hard to understand how a taxi company can get the ordering of a ... TAXI so wrong. In the end my friends had to wait for a train during the train strikes and in -2 degree weather. Kids are now sick. Can't speak lowly enough if Addison Lee. read more

Addison lee provides a much more cost effective, professional and personal than any other London black cabs can offer. You can either book online and instantly get a quote or call them, then you are updated by texts when you driver is on his way and when they have arrived. The cars are always clean and looking brand new and there is always a newspaper for you to read. The drivers themselves are always polite and chatty which is a bonus. A main advantage is that they are far cheaper than black cabs except Ive found there roughly the same on airport/rail jobs. Nevertheless, Choose Addison lee for a friendly, professional and clean! cab in the future. Also if you have the cash they offer Chauffeur driven services for an extra £10 or so. http://www.addisonlee.com/ read more
Shockingly stupid and incompetent. Check your times prior to listening to the bracingly insipid cadre of morons who work here. Gatwick airport? That's a 45 minute travel time - good news! That's weird because I'm showing it at over an hour. Not when you're traveling sir! Literally the only time I've ever missed a flight in my life. Shame on me for listening to them but, silly me, I figured their business was cars. At least that's what they say. Could not run a popsicle stand - don't ask them to run your car service. Unless you like missing flights in which case, by all means. read more
Used this car service to get to the Harry Potter WB studio tour. Besides the first driver we had (who was driving like he was training for the Indy 500), it was a good service. They were prompt at picking us up and accommodating for our many changes for pick up and drop off. If you're from the US and booking online, I recommend confirming with them when you arrive in London because what we booked online is ultimately not what they showed on their end. Luckily it was an easy fix, but the online reservation system is not reliable. We used this service because although getting an uber to the HP studio was easy, there didn't seem to be too many Uber's in the area for the way back. Considering Uber is cheaper, I would use the uber option if it is available and becomes more accessible. read more

I arranged a car to pick me up upon arrival in London today. The driver showed up more than 1 hour late to my hotel to take me downtown for meetings. He then proceeded to take the most congested route in all of London via Buckingham Palace. The driver was clearly incompetent from the beginning. Went to the wrong location for the pick three different times and then could not pick the most efficient route to get me to my meetings. Was late by more than 1 hour for my initial meetings. Totally unreliable. I booked a car a week in advance to go to Heathrow to catch a flight. Five minutes before the booked pick-up time I received a text to say the driver would be late. Horrible experience traveling with Addison Lee. Booked cars for pick up at train station upon arrival on Eurostar, and from hotel to Heathrow several days later. The first time, the reservation had been inexplicably canceled a day earlier, and when a car was subsequently sent, it was not large enough to accommodate the passengers and luggage I specifically described when making the reservation. In advance of the next trip, I called to re-confirm the reservation, to ensure no repeat of the rogue cancellation. This time, a car appeared on time, but not even close to sufficient for the passengers and luggage noted on the reservation. Addison Lee had to send a second car, which meant the whole family did not leave until 20 minutes past the appointed time. Overall, it's hard to imagine a less satisfying experience. read more

They are prompt considering traffic in London. They are easy to contact -- bookable by phone or online. The pricing is also good, compared to most companies. And honestly, I have so many stories in cabs, especially theirs, that I could write a whole book. Most drivers are friendly, social and good listeners. Once a guy named Gregor gave me an advice that helped me make an important decision. I never got to see him again and thank him. I hope he is doing fine. read more

Horrible and extremely unreliable I booked a wheelchair access vehicle 8 days before my pick up date. Now, 15 minutes before my pick up time, I get a call telling me the driver will be at least 30 minutes late!!!! I told them that when the job was booked, I explained I needed to be there early because a) it was for a show at the West End and b) I am in a wheelchair so it's going to take a while to get settled. They apologised half-heartedly. Luckily, I was able to get an Uber Wheelchair Access Vehicle and got to my show early. Cancelled on Add Lee ASAP. Add Lee! Do better! Addison Lee? More like Addison Fee! I travel around London A LOT and sometime I have to lug big boxes and bags of stuff, so I need the help of a friendly taxi service. Friendly they may be, but fair is rather questionable when it comes to fares. On more than one occasion, I have had extra waiting time added to my credit card. Which I would have no problem with... if there had actually been extra waiting time, and not some fictitious, parallel universe made up time that never occurred. It makes me wonder just how many other people they doing it to - imagining additional times that just never existed. Well actually that's not strictly true. One of the incidents in question, I had to move about 6 boxes from inside Olympia all the way out past the car pack, onto the street where the driver sat waiting. All by myself note and this did take some time, time that I was charged for! What the heck? Am I suppose to magic them into the van? And they have the audacity to tell me I can't speak to anybody, but that I have to waste my time, email my query. I should charge them for my time! There are three things I want to leave you with. 1) If you pay by card, make sure you check your statements. 2) If necessary make them do a full investigation. 3) Tell them you're writing it on here! Bad monkey! read more
Now, I am a lover, not a hater but Addison Lee makes my blood boil. Their drivers appear to believe that they are above the law, paying little or no regard to pedestrians, cyclists and other road users in their desperate attempt to get to their next job on time. Indicating, stopping at zebra crossings and driving with common courtesy are all irrelevant to the Addison Lee driver. It is not as if they are cheap - far from it - in my experience almost every other minicab will do the same journey for less. Consequently their ongoing popularity mystifies me. I can only assume that if you advertise enough (their Ford MPVs are everywhere) the people will come. However, for me, the sooner Addison Lee disappears the better. Hopefully this review is a step in that direction. read more
Oh how the mighty have fallen. This is the first time I've bumped a business from a 5 star to a 1 star and I'm not doing it lightly. I've had a spate of really bad service from them which has prompted this review and I won't be using them again. Firstly - 'wait charges'. They add these onto your bill without any warning so if you're paying by card for Gawd sake check your statement thoroughly for these not-so-little add ons. At one point they charged JB a wait fee when the box was delivered to my house and I personally walked out to the car to collect it from the boot. There was no wait whatsoever only JB wasn't there to witness that so they stuck on a fee. FAIL! Second - the aggressive drivers. I've had a driver not give way on a single-lane road to an oncoming car and instead of reverse, as he should have done, he drove up the pavement. I've had a driver actually shout and swear at other drivers - when it was HIS fault - repeatedly during one journey (always apologising afterwards but then picking another fight within minutes). It was the most frightening and intimidating journey ever. The same driver ignored me when I told him to take a left, got annoyed with me and spun a u-turn into oncoming traffic on a really busy road and then had the cheek to tell the driver who beeped him to f-off. Seriously. FAIL! Lastly - get some frickin' drivers who KNOW LONDON! Half of them are relying far too heavily on sat navs for the simplest of journeys - I don't expect you to know every road in London but I do expect a basic knowledge from someone who is paid to drive them every day. And please hire some drivers who understand the rules of the road - throwing a u-turn on a busy road into fast oncoming traffic is not ok. Swearing at other drivers is not ok. FAIL! FAIL! FAIL! Addison Lee - SORT. IT. OUT! read more
When getting into a dodgy minivan seems a safer bet than a much vaunted "registered" mini-cab, you know something is wrong...oh so very wrong. My first (and most definitely last) experience with this hellhole of a cab company was when we booked one to ferry me, my housemate, and a couple of boxes across Tower Bridge. I literally mean across the bridge as we lived on Bermondsey Square and our destination was next to Tower Gateway. Price? £15. Okay, so maybe that's a fee for the boxes or perhaps traffic is bad. It seems steep but if you don't have anything to compare it to, how can you tell? Well, if you do the exact same trip in reverse in a Black Cab, you'd expect to have to pay more, yes? We flagged one down for the return tip and the fare was an astounding £8. WTF Addison Lee? How can you justify being almost twice the cost of a Black Cab? My second run-in (and I mean that literally) was when I was cycling up a hill and an Addison Lee van decide to overtake another car on the left side where I was. The sideview mirror of said van sent me spinning into the grass, luckily unhurt, but slightly in shock. And from reading the reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who has had a close call. Epic fail Addison Lee. Oh and finally, tell your CEO to get his facts straight. There is no road tax anymore...it's an emissions tax. Which cycles are charged since they have ZERO EMISSIONS. I understand it may be a foreign concept to a man who claims he'd never get on a bike but surely that's common sense? read more
Hmmm, I'm of very mixed frame of mind when reviewing this company. I've used them for corporate transport purposes in the past, and they were a good, friendly, efficient car service (especially when on account and you didn't have to think about the price). Now that they seem to be encroaching on the minicab/black-cab market, I have some thoughts: - I'm glad there's an alternative to black cabs, because I've found in my last few rides that the price is lower, with no upfront fee. And they quote you a price on the phone, so you'll know ahead of time what you'll pay, instead of worrying as you watch the meter click. (Also, you don't need to question the route the driver is taking, and whether he might be running up the fare). -Unlike some mini cab companies, they aren't regionally focused, they'll pick up and take you anywhere. - Apparently people have had good luck booking through the phone app. I haven't tried this, nor have I pre-paid. I've always chosen the cash option when calling in. (I feel this will give me the option of cancelling if they get lost or don't show up within a reasonable time. And I won't be charged a retroactive wait fee on my card, as others have experienced). -I personally don't care too much about their driving style - once I'm in the vehicle, I'm thinking "just get me there." It's a big-city, I expect a little chaos. - I don't think it will last. The last two times the drivers had an attitude. The first time the driver was a bit late, so I called him, and he was somewhat indignant, implying that I was hounding him. He showed up about 10-15 minutes late, and we didn't speak at all on the way. The second time I was on crutches, so I was a bit slow in getting downstairs to the car, although I told the dispatcher ahead of time, as well as the driver when he informed me that he'd arrived (early). That driver didn't help with the car door, wouldn't look at me at all, even, as I struggled to get in ;-). I glean perhaps in going after new business the drivers aren't all on board. Just a hunch. Take advantage while you can! read more

From humble beginnings to London's most trusted business-class car service in just over forty years, Addison Lee have grown with and for the times. And yet, so little has changed about us. We still believe that taxis and minicabs can be so much more than just a means to an end - our clients are right to expect extraordinary standards, and by allying the latest technologies with traditional customer service values, we can not only disrupt the industry, we can revolutionise it. Today, our iconic cars are responsible for getting over 10 million people where they need to go each year in London alone. And with our business expanding every day - across both the UK and worldwide - we will continue to deliver that same executive service consistently, no matter where we are.

Is it possible to rank these people zero stars? I've never had such an awful customer service experience in my life. After moving to London from the USA earlier this year, we booked Addison Lee several times with good results, and then it all fell apart. I was to be picked up July 26 at night at Heathrow, upon my return from the U.S.. I went to the appointed meeting place (the Hertz counter), and found no driver. There was another Addison Lee driver there waiting for another customer. Luckily, he took pity on me, as neither of my mobile phones were working. He helped me phone my husband, and he then spent about 20 minutes on the phone with various Addison Lee contacts, locating my driver. Meanwhile, his own client (whose name I remember, as it's the same as a now-deceased former U.S. president) showed up with his wife, and said that they had seen another driver halfway across the terminal. The other clients were also quite kind, and the wife actually started across the terminal to find the other driver. The other driver then showed up (after I had been waiting some 40 minutes), apologising profusely, saying that he had just started working for Addison Lee that week, and wasn't aware of the pickup point. I chose not to report the incident to Addison Lee at the time, thinking first that they should've been aware of it based on the other driver's multiple phone calls, and secondly not wanting to get my driver into trouble with his new employer. Boy, do I regret that decision now. Some weeks later, my husband finds mysterious charges from Addison Lee on our credit card bill. Some are subsequently explained, but there is one charge that we are told is for WAITING TIME for this driver! We explained, first by e-mail and then by phone to a customer service rep the string of events. She insists that my driver claims that he was at the Hertz counter the entire time, and that they choose to stand behind their employees. I then point out that she could prove that I am not lying by (a) speaking with the other driver, (b) checking his mobile phone records (which include both a phone call to my house and multiple calls to Addison Lee) and/or speaking with the other customer who surely remembers the situation. Both the customer service rep and her supervisor (who claims she's been in customer service for 10 years), refuse to do any of these things, preferring to implicitly accuse a customer of lying (for a GBP 8.00 charge!), lose our business and retain an employee who has repeatedly lied to them, rather than take care of a repeat customer who was on track to bring them at least hundreds of pounds of revenue per year. I've now been told that I can contact the Chairman, but that he doesn't have e-mail (!?) We choose not to waste our time further with this poorly run firm, and will dispute the unbelievably small charge with our credit card company, and happily take our rather larger amount of business elsewhere. To all who use this company, enjoy your free newspaper, but beware of the customer service team, and definitely report any issues immediately, as you will never be believed ex post facto! These people are the textbook example for how NOT to run a customer service operation! read more

As I start this review, I'll be honest .. it is highly unlikely that it will be acknowledged or dealt with in a way that conforms to the essence of good customer service. Addison Lee used to be my default courier and taxi service. Always reliable, always fast, drivers always happy. Then came uber. My last three Addison experiences have been beyond frustrating. After the experience, just to increase your customer frustration, try getting to a resolve for your issue.... it's impossible. I think the experience that tipped me over the edge was getting a courier order out to an important client in Knightsbridge. Customer service offered me a van or a car but never offered the service options. Apparently it's in the customers responsibility to designate whether you want direct or their "multi drop" service. So, hang on, if you're not familiar with their options, they default to multi drop. My order fell into the multi drop option which has ABSOLUTELY no guaranteed delivery time. Could be 3pm and could be 10pm. My slot fell somewhere in between arriving at 7pm ....... oops, loading bay closed. Received phone call from driver saying he'd have to send the delivery back to their hub and we'd have to send it out the following day, but hang on .... you'll have to be transferred to customer service and rebook and pay again. If I'd been offered the service options I could have chosen my service and avoided the nightmare but alas.... Called customer service and was informed that it's in their terms and conditions that the customer must designate the service category. Nothing they could do. It was like speaking to Siri, no emotion and programmed to avoid (at all costs) of compensating your troubles. I type this from an Addison Lee that I waited one hour for on a Saturday afternoon, if you book on the app before you pay it does t tell you the response time. My time was 60 minutes. I was going to call an Uber but thought I'll try Addison again ... called customer service and guess what "if you refer to our terms and conditions section 13, ....." you get the picture. So despite spending nearly a thousand pounds on Addison Lee I guess my spend doesn't quantify a response that makes me feel valued. So ..... do you guys have a section in your customer service that knows how to respond to a customer that valued you and is resolutely never using you again ? I won't wait by the phone. read more

I moved recently to London and used one out of 5 recommended by Expat center taxi companies in London Addison Lee. I have booked a trip with Addison Lee to Heathrow airport. The negotiation price was £68.70. I was flying to Paris with Air France, and had 2 pieces of very HEAVY luggage. There was no terminal indicated on my itinerary, and I asked the driver if he knew what terminal Air France was operating from. He told me that all flights to Europe operate from terminal 1. So, he dropped me at terminal 1 with all my heavy luggage, asked to pay him £85 (I was surprised that the cost went up, but didn't argue with him) and took off. Few minutes later I found out that Air France has been operating from Terminal 4, and was never located in Terminal 1! I had to catch another taxi and pay £15 to go to the right terminal. I arrived 30 minutes before flight and was the last passenger to enter the plane! I asked the Addison Lee kindly investigate this matter, and reimburse me with £30 of extra fees that I had to pay to get to the airport and than, to the right terminal. Especially, since it was not the first time. A few weeks before, the Addison Lee driver tried to drop me at the Victoria Coach while the booking was for Victoria Rail station. It was in the middle of the night, and I was supposed to take the train to Gatwick airport at 3 am in the morning to catch the flight at 6:00 am. Because the driver took me to the wrong place and argued for 5-7 minutes before taking me to the rail station, I missed the train. I had to wait an hour for the next train. It was 3 am, and the station was empty, dark and cold. Addison Lee didn't want to make things just. Though they told me that if the driver was unsure what terminal or station to go to, he should have called the center to confirm, their manager Sara talked to me in a very impolite manner and went into the deep defense. Main reason for this defense was that the driver didn't have any complaints before, and that he was, in her own words, an angel! After this statement I had no further questions. With this attitude toward the client, I no longer surprised that their drivers take people to the wrong place, constantly argue and overcharge. Being a manager myself, I went all the way to throw Addison Lee out of our expat policies. Expat center removed the Addison Lee out of the list of recommended companies! read more

I used Addison Lee a lot over the past 2 to 3 years, usually for medium length journeys (13-28 pounds fares), but occasionally for very expensive 11 pounds 1-2 miles journeys. Usually they were punctual or early, and most of the drivers quite pleasant. However I think such an expensive company cannot be forgiven even for one mistake only, particularly if they do not even dream to issue grovelling apologies (or any apology) for the mistake. For a variety of reasons irrelevant here, I booked a cab for 9 am to take my daughter and I to her nursery, a 10 minutes walk away by myself, but 25 minutes with my daughter (11 pounds fare). At 8:55 am I receive a text that my car has been delayed by up to 20 minutes. I am not pleased, since we are going to be late, but it is still going to be quicker than walking, and it is raining quite heavily. At 9:15 I call, since there is still no car. At this point I discover that, due to the computerised system used by AL, even if I booked the cab well in advance, the computer has only started looking for a car at 8:40, and actually at 9:15 has still not found one. So actually the text that was sent to me earlier is a lie: there is no 'my car', and the delay could be anything. At this point I am fuming, and just dash with my daughter under the rain. At 10:14 I receive a further text that a driver has been allocated to my job, who arrives at my door at 10:28, nearly 1 hour and a half late! at this point I am actually at Earl's Court, from North London were I live (but well inside the A406...). I was greatly inconvenienced by their behaviour, but what would have happened if I had had a plane to catch? And why could they not just let me know that they were experiencing difficulties in finding a car, so that I would have left home much earlier, and I would not have been so late? and a single word of apology would have gone a long way. Anyway, I normally use AL when I need to get to an important appointment on time. Now I shall never dare using them if I need somebody reliable. But if they are not reliable, and since they are deadly expensive, why use them at all? read more

TOTAL NIGHTMARE TO WORK FOR PROS Support from managers and other agents in an around the contact centre is amazing everyone is helpful and pleasant in the night shift especially the condition we work under, the poor recources and tools we have to do the job itself and where google maps can crashes the whole system is pretty stupid considering we work for AL who is basically a posh cab company where something like google maps is ESSENTIAL. CONS In total honesty the Carlyle Group are a joke known for not giving a fish about there employees at the bottom of the food chain, Im just glad that there done with there objective and made there money so they could sell up already and go. This is a very good company heck just the courier service in london is a goldmine, We really need CEO's that would actually come in and make changes that would benefit us by giving us the correct tools we need to do the job with the FAIR wages. I mean I know empolyees in the company that have been there more than 5 years and have never recieved any form of appreciation and then the TCG are wondering why theyre having such a staffing issue. Mate its the lowest paying contact centre in the whole of cambridgeshire and its also one of the highest profited company in the whole of cambridgeshire and you wonder why people are leaving every single day. Advice to Management no advice lol just sell up already please we really need CEO's that want to make the business better. Look you guys clearly dont care about us otherwise you wouldnt be coming out with these very smart ways of cutting down our chances to achieve bonuses with some new brand standard protocol every so often. And if you dont believe me TCG the proofs in the pudding go ask your account holders I believe "taccy" is the word one of them used to describe the company in the recent 5 years which was exactly what she said and exactly how long you guys have been in ownership. read more

I must admit I am still in a state of a shock. Addison Lee charged me for cancelation the same price as the trip was: £12. (for a booking which I haven't made or canceled) What I did was, I found out about Addison Lee and about a promo code for my first booking. I used the code and made a booking but while waiting for the taxi I wondered if my promo code was applied. It wasnt. And then I canceled the booking. The driver calls me after that and tells me that it was applied (which he was lying). After another 8 minutes the driver arrives and I ask him how to do in order to apply the promo code to the booking and then make another booking, and what he does is, he calls the operator from Addison Lee to send the booking again to him and then he acts as he just forgot asking about the promo code. And then when he call again I ask if I will be charged a cancelation fee if he cancel this second trip which still doesn't have the promo code to it. And, the driver confirms that I will be charged, and gave me a rough idea of £4-5 cancellation fee. I said, OK, just cancel it cos I will never use Addison Lee anymore. But I was charged £12, (around 90 pence more than what I was initially quoted for my journey). The problem was that the second booking which was eventually canceled by the driver himself, was not even made by me, or my hands, it was sent without my consent to the driver from the operator of Addison Lee. I will take this much furher, to Ombudsman, Watchdog and TFL. UPDATE 7th of Feb 2017 They contacted me after making a complain and they refunded me the 12 pounds and also gave me a 10 pounds voucher for my next trip. Great. Thank you Adisson Lee. read more

Absolutely disgusting company. I have used many times before and have rarely had a pleasant driver. I request that they wait in a certain place (which is clearly sign posted and easy to park in) as I don't like walking far at night being a young lady. This evening I got a call from them, after booking a cab for later in the evening, saying I can't dictate to drivers where they must wait and because of my unreasonable request I must pay the driver in full before my journey. I explained my reasons for requesting where they park, which is partly due to a disability of mine too which I don't really feel comfortable discussing with one of their heavy london accented unconcerned call centre workers whos only intent was having a petty argument and taking advantage of the little power his job provides him with. I let the little guy have his moment as he proceeded to shout and throw a barrage of insults at me for over 10 minutes. The pleasant drivers I have had recently have said work is quiet at the moment, which is hardly suprising as the company employs so many numpties and the fact they chargeway more than black cabs doesn't help. A few years ago the drivers were polite and on time, and if there were problems they apologised and dealt with them efficiently. Now they are best avoided, especially for women due to the sexist drivers who shout at you when you dare complain that they weren't at the right address and that you have had to walk half way down your road to find them (I very much doubt they'd shout at a man - again, the small person/low wage syndrome again). London buses are more reliable and you are less likely to get hassle on your journey too! read more

We ordered one taxi with 4 drop off to: Chiswick, Ruislip, Edgware and Watford. We were told that it will cost £117. The next day the person who would have gone to Edgware said that the best is to get 2 cabs because she is a bit more north than west and she would spend around 2 hours in the cab before she gets home. We modified the order and were told that in that case the cost is about £15 cheaper. Great we thought. No written confirmation arrived, no invoice was sent. Before we left the party the person who would have gone to Watford did not come at the end but we had space so we got someone else who was going to Chiswick as well, to share the cab with us. So at the end we had 1 cab going to Edgware and 1 cab going to Chiswick (2 drop off) and Ruislip.Addison Lee did not just reduce the cost of the fare with £15 as discussed on the phone but still charged me £117 which I believe is overpriced and not fair as they did not need to go the same distance as in the original order. We ordered the cab for midnight but the cab driver arrived 15minutes earlier so later I was charged with £5 waiting time. I had also been charged around 5 differnt costs against my credit card and around 5 different annulations have arrived based on my complaint. At one point they charged over £200. I advise everyone to keep away from them. The worst company ever: they are overcharging and bad customer service. read more

Addison Lee....do any of your drivers hold a drivers licence? Do any of your drivers have any knowledge of the highway code? I suspect not. I am constantly amazed by the lunatic and frankly dangerous actions by your drivers. Every time I see an Addison Lee driver travelling the same direction as me I love to watch the lunacy unfold before me,how you guys are still driving people around is some sort of miracle or perhaps divine intervention. Arrogance, ignorance and a total disregard for other road users, as a professional driver myself i would be ashamed to be a driver for this organisation. I don't suppose Mr Griffin really cares as long as the cash keeps rolling in. Its interesting to see that the reviews on here are either excellent or very poor. If you're a cyclist please beware, Addison Lee hate you and i have no doubt you are all in a great deal of danger as Addison Lee are still continuing to use bus lanes illegally and they really do not care if you are there. And this is all sanctioned be the boss who really doesn't care, remember its all about ££££££££££££££££££££££ read more

Signed up for the Heathrow pick up by credit card. When I got the bill they had added substantially for "wait time" and "parking fees". It took two requests for them to acknowledge they wrongly charged me for "wait time". They still refused to remove the parking fees despite my pointing out that they did not mention those at all at confirmation, and in the fine print of their terms and conditions it only says that parking charges may occur if there are "route deviations" from the booked route. I had no route deviations. Further, they could not explain to me how they determine what parking charges should be - if you book a cab with them, they seem to feel they can charge whatever they please, and you won't learn what it is until you get a credit card bill weeks later. I used to believe they were a quality firm, but competition is intense in the taxi business, and this company has decided to play dirty with the customer in order to raise profits. read more

This company's attitude and public behaviour is one of recklessness, arrogance, and law-defiance. The company's chairman and founder, John Griffin, supports his cab drivers in encouraging them to illegally drive on bus lanes (and indemnifying them of any fines incurred). He also recently stated that cyclist deaths in the streets of London are justified because cyclists don't pay as much as motorists to be on the road (!) and that a motorist killing a cyclist is excused under the Sorry mate I didn't see you umbrella. His business regularly donates to the conservative party to lobby for laws making it easier for him to make more and more money out of this unacceptable and disappointing service. As a cyclist I have experienced the recklessness of Addison Lee car drivers, and as a former Addison Lee user I have seen the low quality of their services (drivers can't go anywhere without tomtoms). read more

Dreadful. I agree with everything previous reviewers have said about greed. Their online booking system is great but service is awful. Used them in South London/Kent as my husband needed picking up at hospital (two broken arms, dmanaged shoulder and leg). They kept him waiting an hour, driver admittted he was in wrong place when he called (the wrong number) on arrival. They failed to contact my husband to say they were cancelling the booking, and drove off, stranding him! We also later discovered that they were over twice as expensive as local mini cab companies (to which we have now switched). Their customer service area is anything but helpful. They expect us to pay the full fare depsite them disappearing. My sister in law has also had several disputes with them in the past about lateness, service. They just refuse to budge and see the customer viewpoint. read more

DONT EVER USE THEM. I can not handle the driver's attitude anymore. I ordered taxi for 12.55 but driver received the job as 'asap'. He soon arrived at 12.45. It is NOT my problem they came early. When I got into the car, he was so angry and said that I was late and had to pay extra money or he would not drive. He said how he wasted his time and he could have got better job and money while he was waiting. He made me so angry and I called Addisonlee while I was still in the car with him. As soon as I said he was 'angry' and explained what he said to me, he smiled and said 'I was never angry'. COME ON, YOU RAISED YOUR VOICE AND EVENS STOPPED THE CAR TO BLACKMAIL US BY SAYING HE WOULDNT DRIVE IF HE WONT GET EXTRA WAITING FEE. It is not about money. I can pay £2.50 extra money but I would not pay a penny for his service and attitude. NOT HAPPY. read more

Addison Lee is a company with poor standards and appalling management. As a cyclist (and former Addison Lee user) I can safely say that Addison Lee are some of the most dangerous cabs I have encountered, numerous times stopping right in front of me or overtaking dangerously. John Griffin, founder and chairman, of Addison Lee, recently openly encouraged his cab drivers to break the law and drive on bus lanes (saying he will cover any fines incurred). He further released a text on Add Lib magazine saying that cyclist deaths are justified because cyclists has fewer expenses than motorists. Inconsiderate, reckless, borderline illegal - certainly not respectful towards cyclists who make London cleaner, less noisy, and less wasteful - I would never recommend their services. read more

Was over charged on my CC card for a cancelation last year, did not notice till looking at credit card statement. Callled up customer services who admitted they had over charged me, told me to write an e-mail with my query. They took 2 weeks to write back to me to say it was impossible to look into my query as stated in terms and conditions it had gone over the 15 days since being charged and that they had no access to job number. This was a lie as they had quite clearly looked at it when i phoned up. Really poot customer serviecs and this came from one of the managers, who just kept repeating hereself stating Terms and Conditions, when quite clearly they had over charged me. Will never ever use them again. read more

I have never ever use this company in my life I always use black cabs, it was rainy day so I had decided to try this company, from belgravia to kings cross station. I was charged £22, I normally pay £16,£17 in taxi. Driver couldn't find the mews where I live. It was long till he got there. Obviously didn't t know the way to station, following his noisy sat nav going around to come back up, I was trying to show him quickest way but unfortunately that was language barrier. That was the worst journey I've ever had. Never ever use this again, I love London taxi very reliable the know exactly where iam going, I can relax while they drive me home, and in my experience is much cheaper than this crappy company. read more

A 5 minicab firm with professional well dressed drivers and immaculate cars!! Always on time and never charge more regardless of time of travel or route taken and the fare is the same over Christmas and New Years!! However NEVER pay on account, PayPal, Credit/Debit Card as the passenger will pay extra and the driver will only receive 40% of the fare! Many drivers have told me that they prefer cash work of which Addison Lee only receives a commission of £3 per cash job regardless of the journey taken compared to the 60% AddLee takes for just taking down a 16 digit number or when paid on Account, PayPal, Credit/Debit Card via app or online!! ALWAYS PAY CASH!!! read more

Avoid this company - (they are deliberate law breakers & hostile to cyclists) as reported in today's Evening Standard: "Protester Richard Beenham, 40, from Roehampton said: "Addison Lee drivers have a terrible reputation." Software engineer Jolyon Wharton, 39, from Camberwell, said: "I've been run over three times by Addison Lee cars -- always in exactly the same way. They pull up alongside you and turn left. I've had a broken shoulder, my nose broken four times. I've dislocated my thumbs and had my knee smashed. Bus lanes are our sanctuary." http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/london/300-cyclists-stage-diein-at-minicab-firm-7674969.html read more
